ECOsine® Active with GL approval
The quality and reliability of the electrical supply is crucial to almost any application nowadays.
But it is even more crucial for systems in the marine and oil and gas sector. Achievements such
as energy efficiency, lower costs of operation, less maintenance and lower emissions have been
realized mainly with the increasing use of AC and DC electric drives. Besides the significant
benefits of these technologies, it is poor power quality due to harmonic distortion which has
become a critical safety issue. ECOsine® Active harmonic filters deliver a reliable remedy. They
provide the system with an opposing corrective current immediately, compensating harmonics,
phase shift and load-unbalance at the same time. They dynamically adapt to changing grid and
load situations, providing an optimum compensation performance at all times.
The German Lloyd approved ECOsine® Active, based on state-of-the-art power electronics
technology for active harmonic filters, fulfills all requirements for harmonic mitigation
equipment and meet the needs of oil and gas, marine and offshore applications. It reliably
ensures the fulfillment of strict harmonic standards issued by regulating bodies. Together with
the well known compact design and high reliability ECOsine® Active FN3420-100-480-3-GL and
FN3420-120-480-3-GL are the ideal choice to enable safe, reliable and enhanced performance
in versatile projects and operations in this range of challenging applications.
ECOsine® Active uses intelligent digital technology. Its flexibility is obvious, as it can be
connected to the power line on the load or grid side with numerous current transformer-
ratios. Once configured with just a few clicks, the present line current will be permanently
measured and all harmonics and phase displacements are actively compensated. To do this,
ECOsine® Active calculates the appropriate compensation currents within microseconds,
which are then generated and fed into the network. This is possible due to full digital control
and fast high performance computing.
