Bio:
Voice Media was originally The Longmont Voice. Voice Media is a new is a
new publication that was first developed by an idea that Sarah had when we were
talking one day. She said that she thought that there was too much negativity in
newspapers. I was looking into an opportunity with a publisher who was looking for
a manager. They said that they developed local publications for homeowner associa-
tion neighborhoods that were in an upper class community. I asked why they chose
select neighborhoods and was told that it would be easier to obtain advertisers be-
cause you would be marketing to well off neighborhoods.
I disagreed with this logic because I felt that it was profiling people and was
not the type of ethics I wanted to use. After thinking about what Sarah said and this
job opportunity, I decided to merge the two ideas together. What if we established a
magazine that was local and provided a positive voice for the community? The idea
sounded great.
I personally have been self-employed for some time working in computer pro-
gramming, design, online marketing as well as business branding and consultation. I
have also done animation and visual effects. I had all of the programs for making the
publication digital, as well as the know-how of how to make a digital magazine suc-
cessful as I have consulted and worked with print magazines on how to go digital.
This was how The Longmont Voice was developed. We put ideas together and when
we were finally ready, we launched the announcement that The Longmont Voice was
going to come into existence.
I am a business owner and have been for years. Sarah and I both own business-
es together besides The Longmont Voice and we know how expensive advertising and
marketing is. This is why we have made the Longmont Voice business friendly in our
advertising within this publication. Two people run this entire operation along with
many other operations that we run.
So get involved with Voice Media. Send us your articles. Let us know
something good and we will publicize it for you for free. Whether it’s a birthday, an-
nouncement or you just had something really good that you wanted to share. This is
your magazine America.
Sincerely, Voice Media
We wanted to make another announcement regarding the new advancements
of Voice Media as well as new products that are going to be associated with
what we are currently doing with our digital magazine. Many people doubted
this magazine when we were first starting The Longmont Voice, which was the
first publication before we changed the magazine over to Voice Media. Since
then we have expanded the magazine to be more than what we ever could
have imagined.
We originally had the idea to make an audio show called Talk Longmont. Well
since we changed the name of the magazine, we had to get rid of Talk
Longmont and now we are in production for a new audio show called
MyVoiceLink.info, which is an audio version of our show. However, unlike our older show, we are going to bringing to life helpful
articles that are not found within our magazine. These will be fresh articles that are provided by us that will be informative, educa-
tional segments.
This education segment approach is where we are taking Voice Media. We want to inform, educate and show you our loyal readers
something new. We want our articles to inform and to enlighten. This is why we are going to be reaching out to many companies
and brands throughout the United States and world and ask them to participate in our new approach. The benefits for them is that
they can reach you, the consumer and teach you something new and show you why their brand is different from the rest.
For example, let us say Clorox wants to show you how to keep clean on the go. Well they can write an article about how the Clorox
bleach pen can keep your shirts clean and give you some tips on how their product is easy to carry and can be taken anywhere.
Another example is some companies can inform you on how they are helping in the community and give you real world examples
of how they are making a difference.
Unlike other publications and media outlets, this is a public relations type of project so it does not cost the companies anything.
We want to connect consumers with businesses and make it a true community project, so nay business large or small can partici-
pate in this new approach. It helps us by getting fresh content with a new approach while helping businesses connect with consum-
ers in an informative format of delivering their message.
We also are going to create our own social network where we have people who can connect with one another. So come October of
2013, you will once again begin got see a new Voice Media. By 2014 we plan to have this new approach in full effect.
What is even more exciting is that we are also revamping our advertising opportunities and making it affordable for brand new
startup companies all the way to Fortune 1000 companies. We will have ¼ page ads now starting at $50, half page articles at $100
and a full-page article at $150. We also are going to be redesigning our website to display articles not seen in our magazine. These
articles will also be cost conscious being $30 per sponsoring an article, which is only $1 a day and should be affordable for any busi-
ness. Our audio cast sponsor articles will also be only be $50 and will be limited to three sponsors be episode maximum. We also
plan to have our app developed and launched by January of 2014. Get ready America, Voice Media is growing and implementing
new changes.
Most of the time when it comes to organizing I sometimes feel like I don’t know where to begin! Have you ever felt this way? Well the next
time you feel this way, use this easy to do list.
Make a List:
The first thing you need to start with is a list of all the rooms in your home that need to be organized.
Prioritize:
Now take that list and prioritize it. For example, you need to prioritize your list so you can start on the one room that will have a big, posi-
tive impact for you and your family. Remember one room at a time will kept you from being overwhelmed.
To keep from getting overwhelmed as yourself how will my life be better when I’m more organized?
Impact: Now you need to list all the benefits you will have when you are organized throughout your home. Ask yourself how you feel in your new organized home?
Cost:
Now don’t get discouraged when you think about how much this may cost you just remember every step you take to get more
organized will minimize these costs. However, do take a minute to face these costs. Now consider what your experiencing
being less organized. Do you feel stressed? Are you paying late fees? Are you missing important deadlines? Are you short or
cross with your family? Are you unable to have people over or do activities that bring you joy? Do you have difficulty sleep-
ing? Now look around your home and see if you have things you can reuse to help you become more organized this will help
relieve the cost.
Time:
Now you need to consider the time you have for this project. Think about how long each room of your home will take to get organized. Now start with the room that will take less time and benefit you the most.
Pick Just One:
Now pick your starting point that will have the biggest positive impact on your life. By going through this to do list, you will know and feel like you’re working on improving every room in your home that will positively impact your life and the lives of your family members. In addition, this is how easy it is to get started on organizing your home.

were listed on the pizza girls website. This restaurant of the month was selected by drawing
the name out of a few different restaurants here in West Palm Beach, Florida. However,

To develop a happy, healthy bird, we recommend the following practices:
1. BOUNDARIES The step-up command: The step-up command is the foundational command for all other training. This allows an owner to safely handle and move a bird. This lets your bird know you are the boss and helps curb a number of inappropriate behaviors. For example, it is like the basic you teach your dog, sit" or "stay"
2. 1-PERSON BONDS The step up command needs to be taught to every member of the family. This will help avoid a single-person bond with the bird, which can become a troubling behavior in which a bird may act aggressively to handlers other than the primary caregiver. To prevent a one-person bond you need to get your entire family involved in bird care tasks.
3. ATTENTION You need to start your bird out with the amount of interaction you expect to continue once he is trained and familiar to your home. However, make sure you do not ignore your bird during the first weeks you bring the bird home this will establish a se-cure bond with the bird. Therefore, do not give your bird more attention when you first bring the bird home because when you cannot do this anymore the bird may become vocal in an inappropriate way trying to get your attention,
4. HEALTHY DIET Food to birds offers comfort. Therefore, when you first bring home your bird you need to offer the bird foods that provide him comfort while he is adjusting to his new home. However, you need to establish a good nutritional foundation. Make sure you do not spoil your bird with to many seeds, or to much of any type of food this can cause bad habits to form.
5. BIRD-PROOF Birds delight in the visual, audio, and olfactory stimulation that playtime outside the cage provides. But, birds use their mouths to explore and want to taste everything at least once. Make sure your home is bird-proof. Electrical cords and outlets, water sources, other pets, plants, toxic substances, chemical fumes, and much more can all be harmful to your bird. Read up on bird-proofing your home and make it safe before you even bring your new bird home.
6. RESPECT Though you expect many things from your bird, he too deserves respect. Know when enough is enough. Lights, conversation, or television after your bird's bedtime is a sure way to invite behavioral problems. Because birds often seek hiding spots in the wild, honor your bird's need to seek retreat within his cage. Avoid teasing your bird. And, when you first bring him home, make sure it is a quiet, peaceful experience; avoid holidays or other hectic times in your schedule.
7. INTERESTING Switch the toys and perches in his cage frequently. Present treats in challenging ways to sharpen his wits. Let him travel with you in his carrier when possible. Put a perch in the shower and let him join you. Play soothing music or a speech-training CD regularly. Give him social interaction with people other than your family members. Offer him a variety of healthy foods. Your bird’s life will be richer for it.
Ideal for children 14 & up
Easy to tame; natural clowns
Smart and easily trained Lives 10 to 15 years
Things to remember:
Nutrition: Feed her 3-4 teaspoons per day of a pellet or seed-based, fortified parakeet diet.
Long-term companions: Before purchasing, be aware that a parakeet requires a long-term commitment of approximately 10-
15 years.
Supplements: Be sure to provide a cuttle bone or mineral block in your parakeet's cage at all times.
Habitat: Your parakeet's cage must be large enough for her to comfortably stretch her wings, climb and play with her toys.
The bigger the cage, the better. The cage should provide a secure area where she feels safe, but she should also be allowed out
of the cage for socialization.

Home maintenance:

change the filter.
Clean your air ducks.
Clean your gutter. Install gutter protectors.
Examining your chimney for any damage.
Covering up your air conditioning unit to protect it
from ice and snow.

Inspecting washing machine hoses for bulges, cracks or splits. Replace them every other year.
Checking the dryer exhaust tube and vent for built-up lint, debris or birds' nests.
Turn over your mattress and wash all of your bedding.
Beware of bugs!!!!
Bugs and mice are looking for a warm place to stay for the winter. Now a good time to look for rotted, cracked or dam-
aged wood around the house, which is the perfect entrance for critters into your home.
It is important to keep wood on a home painted, sealed and caulked. Replacing wood trim with PVC material trim that
requires no maintenance and can be painted.
Energy-saving fall ideas:
Caulking around windows and doors will keep the chilly air and bugs out, and keep the heat in.
Installing ceiling fans, the fan blades tipped to push warm air down, homeowners can help save on heating bills and make
themselves more comfortable.
Using a hot water heater blanket.
Insulating and wrapping pipes.
Checking the attic insulation and adding more if necessary.
Replacing windows, which, if you can afford it now, can really help save with energy cost. Have an energy audit done, which will tell you where heat is escaping your home and costing you money.

These are a few general guidelines when it comes to makeup clean out. The number one tip to
makeup clean out is to use the “see and sniff" test: If it looks “off” or starts to smell, it’s time to
toss it. If you’ve had an eye infection or another type of viral infection, it’s safest to throw out any
makeup you used. NEVER SHARE YOUR MAKEUP, this is how eye infections get spread from per-
son to person. Reminder: to make your makeup last longer keep it in a cool dry place.
Mascara: Replace your mascara every three months. Eye and lip liners: These can last up to three years. Just sharpen them often to help
them stay sanitary and fresh. Lipsticks and gloss: These last about a year. Foundation: The shelf life for these varies according to the formula, but in general,
cream-based foundation lasts about six months to a year, and foundation with SPF tends to go bad even quicker. Eye shadow, blush and powder: Eye shadow, blush and powder usually last about two
to three years. Nail polish: These can last up to a few years. When the color starts to separate, shake
it. If it doesn't completely mix, it’s gone bad. Moisturizers: Because of the vast differences in formulas, it depends on the brand.
You should check online to see what the company recommends.
Brushes: Wash your makeup brushes. You can buy brush cleaner, however, you can
use baby shampoo and conditioner for natural-hair brushes and dish soap for nylon brushes. Lay your makeup brushes out on a hand towel or paper towel to air dry.

TIPS on when to throw away your makeup:
Fall Cleaners:
Here are some cleaners you can make at home: Spotless Dishwasher Rinse • 1 to 1 ½ cups white vinegar Add the vinegar to the rinse compartment of your automatic dishwasher, being careful not to over-full. Wash dishes as usual. Shoe Deodorizer Sprinkle the insides of your shoes with a small amount of powdered chamomile every day. Make sure to brush out the powder before wearing. Another trick is to fill a spare pair of socks with a mixture of coarsely crushed dried herbs and spices: Rosemary, bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, orange peel, lemon peel, thyme, lavender, and pine needles. Now tie the socks at the top and leave them in the shoes between wearing. Room Fresheners
Put Lavender or southernwood pouches into clothing and linen drawers this will repel moths as well as keep contents smelling clean and fresh. Put a drop of your favorite essential oil directly onto the wood of your dresser drawers. The wood will absorb the oil and will re-lease the scent gradually. Hang pouches of fragrant herbs from door knobs or in a sunny window sill. Pack a small decorative pillow with pine needles; put it among the sofa pillows to freshen the den or living room. Place an absor-bent pottery jar filled with essential oil near a sunny window. The heat from the window will dissipate the oil, releasing the scent. Replace oil often. Simmer a blend of cloves, cinnamon sticks, and dried orange peel in 4 cups of water to give a warm spicy scent to your home on winter days. Top a light bulb with a drop or two of your favorite essential oil or scent. The heat from the bulb will release the aroma for hours.
Air-Freshener Spray This spray is strong and needs to be applied judiciously. •1/4 cup isopropyl alcohol • 25 drops bergamot essential oil • 8 drops clove essential oil • 5 drops lemon essential oil • 1 cup dis-tilled water 1. In a spray bottle, combine the alcohol and the essential oils and shake well to disperse the oils. Add the distilled water and
shake for a minute or two more to thoroughly blend all the ingredients. 2. Let sit for at least a few days before using, to allow the fragrance to mature. A quick spritz is usually all that is needed to
freshen a room.
Herbal Carpet Freshener
To freshen carpets, opt for this natural formula instead.
•1 cup baking soda • ½ cup lavender flowers
1. Crush the lavender flowers to release their scent. 2. Mix well with the baking soda and sprinkle liberally on carpets.
3. After 30 minutes, vacuum carpets
Nontoxic Toilet Bowl Cleanser
For a no-scrub convenience, simply pour in and leave overnight.
•1 cup borax • ½ cup white vinegar 1. Flush the toilet to wet the sides of the bowl.
2. Sprinkle the borax around the toilet bowl, then drizzle with the vinegar. Leave for several hours before scrubbing
with a toilet brush.
Non-streaking Spray Glass Cleanser Use crumpled newspaper instead of paper towels for lint-free results.
¼ cup white vinegar • 1 tablespoon cornstarch • 2 cups warm water
Mix the ingredients in a spray bottle and shake well to dissolve cornstarch. Spray liberally onto glass surface. Wipe dry with a clean cloth or newspapers, buffing to a streak-free shine.
Natural Stain Stoppers
Stubborn stains need extra care such as blood, Chocolate, or Coffee Soak soiled articles overnight in this solution:
• ¼ cup borax and 2 cups cold water.
Wash as usual the next day. Grease Apply a paste of cornstarch and water. Let dry, then brush away the powder and grease. Red Wine Sprinkle stain with salt; let sit for several hours. When dry, brush away salt and wash, or clean im-
mediately with club soda or seltzer. Grass Soak stain in a 3 percent solution of hydrogen peroxide, then wash. Ink on a White Shirt Wet fabric with cold water and apply a paste of cream of tartar and lemon juice one hour before wash-
ing. Scorch Marks Rub area with a cut raw onion. After the onion juice has been absorbed, soak the stain in water for
a few hours. Pine Floor Cleanser Washing soda, available at grocery store laundry sections, is an inexpensive yet effective cleansing agent that quickly cuts grease and removes stubborn stains. Mixed with soap and salt, it makes an excellent cleanser for most hard floor surfaces.
•½ cup soap flakes • ¼ cup washing soda (sodium carbonate) • 1 cup salt • 2 cups water • 2 teaspoons pine essential oil (available at health-food or aromatherapy stores) 1. In a saucepan, place the soap, washing soda, salt, and water and heat gently, stirring until soap, soda, and salt have dissolved. 2. Cool the mixture to lukewarm, then add the essential oil. Stir well and pour into a jar. 3. To use, pour two to three tablespoons of the mixture into half a bucket of hot water, stirring well. For large areas, you may need to double the amount. 4. After cleaning, rinse the floor with half a bucket of clean water into which you have poured a cup of white vinegar.
Mildew Remover
Stubborn mildew on material often resists ordinary washing. DO NOT USE IT ON DARK OR COLOURED ITMES.
•2 parts salt • 1 part lemon juice 1. Wash the fabric in warm soapy water, then mix salt and lemon juice, enough to cover the mildewed area, and ap-
ply it.
2. Place the article in full sun, rinsing it after several hours. If the stain persists, repeat.
Materials Needed:
Kool-Aid packets – $0.17 a packet at Wal-Mart
Vaseline
Container for lip gloss storage – use a
small empty spice container, or any
small jar will work.
Directions:
1. Put a cup of Vaseline into a
small microwavable bowl.
2. Heat until it is easy to stir,
about 30 seconds. Be careful not to
let it turn into liquid. (The Vaseline in
the very bottom may liquefy, but the key is to just get it warm enough to stir.)
3. Sprinkle Kool-Aid into Vaseline and stir.
4. Transfer to container and enjoy!

Weather:
The autumnal equinox is the
first day of fall!
The autumnal equinox is one
of the two days of the year
when the north and south
halves of the world face the
Sun in equal amounts!.
Nature:
Evergreen trees like pines, ce-dars, spruces, and firs, stay
green all winter because their leaves are covered with a thick wax, and their insides hold materials that help them not to freeze!
Birds: The Arctic Tern bird journeys about 11,000 miles each way for its annual migration. When flying south for winter, the Bar-Headed Goose flies as high as 28,000 feet to go over the Himalayas. Animals like bats, hedgehogs, and many kinds of fish all hibernate during winter.
