The summer provides us with an opportunity to be proud of all the great things that the NWC does to enhance life in Norwich. The NWC garden was more beautiful than ever this summer. Mary Ann Holbrook and her gardening gurus were often seen weeding, thinning, planting and otherwise keeping the garden in glorious bloom. Please remember to thank her when you see her. Did you notice the plantings around our town sign? The NWC provided funds and were involved in choosing the plants. The summer Friday night concerts on the green, arranged by Rita Lajoie, provided wonderful free entertainment for so many Norwich folks. And of course, I hope you noticed how effectively the new bandstand is being used. With summer just about behind us, lots of planning has already taken place to make this another banner NWC year. We hope to continue increasing our visibility and adding new members to our club. Our Monday morning monthly coffee and conversations hours at the Norwich Inn will be starting up again on September 10. These informal, drop-in events provide an opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones. If you have a friend or neighbor who you think would be interested in learning more about the NWC, why don’t you invite them to join you at the Inn next Monday morning? How many of you were at the Spring Gala last March? Were you as frustrated as I with the inability of the sound system to let people be heard over the din of the crowd? Thanks to the NWC, and all the people who supported the Gala, that won’t happen again. With community project funds, the capacity of the sound system in Tracy Hall has been upgraded, and a new sound system for the multi-purpose room has been purchased. This will be available for all Tracy Hall functions. Please check our website, www.norwichwomensclub.org . It is constantly being updated with new events, as well as fun pictures. I hope that you will all take advantage of our programs as well as the opportunities for volunteering. Being a part of the NWC will enrich your life as well as enhance our town. I hope to see all of you soon. The summer provides us with an opportunity to be proud of all the great

things that the NWC does to enhance life in Norwich. The NWC garden

was more beautiful than ever this summer. Mary Ann Holbrook and her

gardening gurus were often seen weeding, thinning, planting and

otherwise keeping the garden in glorious bloom. Please remember to

thank her when you see her. Did you notice the plantings around our

town sign? The NWC provided funds and were involved in choosing the

plants. The summer Friday night concerts on the green, arranged by

Rita Lajoie, provided wonderful free entertainment for so many Norwich

folks. And of course, I hope you noticed how effectively the new

bandstand is being used.

With summer just about behind us, lots of planning has already taken

place to make this another banner NWC year. We hope to continue

increasing our visibility and adding new members to our club.

Our Monday morning monthly coffee and conversations hours at the

Norwich Inn will be starting up again on September 10. These informal,

drop-in events provide an opportunity to catch up with old friends and

make new ones. If you have a friend or neighbor who you think would be

join you at the Inn next Monday morning?

The fall Nearly New Sale is rolling our way. Hot pink announcements

will be in your mailbox the end of the first full week in September and

will also be available by visiting the NWC website and clicking on the

Nearly New Sale link (www.norwichwomensclub.org).

Please answer email recruitment notification soon as it hits your inbox

on September 19th even if you are not available this sale. The sale is a

team effort and your volunteering for a shift (or more??) is needed for

the success of this bi-annual event that benefits the Norwich Women’s

Club Scholarship Fund.

A warm welcome to new members Julie Ackley, Janilee Bishop, Carol

Boerner, Mary Louise “Mike” Trammell, and Susan West.

We would love to welcome more new members. If you have a friend

who is thinking of joining, I am happy to answer any questions: 802-

649-2662. You and she will also find more information on our website –

www.norwichwomensclub.org.

Many of you have already paid your dues for this year (June 1st, 2012 -

May 31st, 2013). If you have not, we’d be most grateful if you would pay

promptly. If you’re not sure if you’ve yet paid, I’d be happy to let you

know - [email protected]. Members’ dues cover the Club’s

fixed costs such as rental on its post office box and website. Remember

also that your dues entitle you to discounts on the Book and Author

lunches and the Museum trips!

Join the NWC as we explore a treasure in

our own backyard. Mark your calendars

for Tuesday, October 2nd.

The NWC is heading to the Shaker

Museum in Enfield. We will meet at 9am

in the Huntley Field parking lot to carpool

in our own vehicles. A special tour of the

museum has been planned for us from

10-11am followed by "time on our own."

Then we will join together again at noon

in the Museum meeting room for

sandwiches and social hour. We'll head

back to Norwich at 1pm.

Price to be determined.

Look for more information on the NWC

website soon!

Or contact the programming committee

with any questions:

Dana Ireland ([email protected])

Debbie Carter

[email protected])

or Holly Sateia

([email protected]).

We are offering coffee and conversation

with friends old and new at the Norwich

Inn – we do hope you will join us on

September 10th, from 10am to 11am.

This is a fun way to make new friends,

and it’s open to anyone whether or not a

member of the Women’s Club, so do

bring an old friend or a new neighbor.

However, to help us best plan, please

RSVP to [email protected].

We thank the Inn for their warm

welcome.
