2020 STUDENT PLACEMENT REQUESTS Classes at The Basin Primary School are formed to ensure the best climate for social, emotional and

academic learning, within the constraints of the resources the school has available.

Determining student placements in classes is a complex task where staff members undertake a

lengthy process to ensure the best possible placement is made to meet each student's educational

needs. Factors that we take into consideration when making class placements include: academic

achievement, personal / interpersonal development, friendships, learning styles, gender balance,

straight and composite classes and other individual learning needs. It is important to understand that

with so many factors to consider it is not possible to accommodate every parent request.

Over several weeks, teachers discuss, reflect and review their decisions. Please be aware that each

and every factor in the decision as to where a child is placed for next year is given our utmost atten-

tion.

If you have any information based upon ‘education grounds only’ that should be considered in relation

to the placement of your child, that information needs to be sent to me in writing no later than FRIDAY

1st NOVEMBER. Please mark your letter CONFIDENTIAL

Parents should note that REQUESTS FOR INDIVIDUAL TEACHERS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

As situations change, requests from previous years should be resubmitted if the reason still exists. Af-

ter Friday 1st November, requests will not be considered as the class placement process will have

commenced. Parents will be notified of placements in the last few days of term 4.

FOOTY DAY Congratulations to Mr Goldie and Mr Thomson for organising a fabulous Footy Day for our students last Monday. The activities in the gym were great fun and enabled the children to experience and or practice the basic skills of our great game. May I take this opportunity to congratulate our wonderful and amazing students on the great progress they have achieved in this very busy term three! Congratulations also to our dedicated hard working staff who do so much for all students across the school. I wish everyone a relaxing and safe holiday and hope the AFL Premiership is won by a Victorian team. See you all back for the start of term 4 on Monday 7th October.

STUDENT EYECARE PROGRAM

What a wonderful response we have had to the Student Eyecare Program. We have 90 students who have been referred for optometric assessments. Our school is next in line for the

program and it will commence in term 4, immediately after assessments at the previous school are completed. If you would like to refer your child please collect a permission form from the

office.

WALK TO SCHOOL 2019

The Basin Primary School has registered for “Walk to School

2019”. Students are encouraged to walk, ride or scoot to and/or

from school for as many days possible. The program begins on

the first day of term 4, Monday 7th October and finishes on

Friday 1st November. If families live too far from school parents

could even park nearby and walk the remaining distance. The

program is aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of

students. Where possible it is recommended that students walk

with parents and no student should walk alone. All classes will

record their results on a chart and each student will have their

own calendar on which they place a tick for each walk to, or

from, school. These calendars will be submitted at the end of

October and will be eligible to be awarded some great prizes

from Knox City Council.
