Marijuana and the WorkplaceSeptember 9, 2020 | VIRTUAL ZOOM EVENT
Michigan and Illinois recently legalized the recreational use of marijuana. This patchwork of laws, coupled with federal law that still criminalizes marijuana, leaves many employers wondering what they can prohibit and test for in the workplace. The enactment of marijuana laws is only one of the many recent developments impacting employers’ drug and alcohol policies. For example, the opioid crisis, recent OSHA rules and the EEOC’s targeting of common policy provisions all have an impact.
As we adjust to the impact of COVID-19 and look to our Wellness Council of Indiana and Indiana Workforce Recovery programs, we have decided to conduct the event virtually.
This timely event is sponsored by Gibson and is presented in partnership with Barnes and Thornburg LLP. As an attendee, you will hear perspectives from safety compliance, human resources professionals and an employment law attorney on:
• how to manage the evolving risks related to your drug and alcohol policies;• how state laws legalizing recreational or medical marijuana impact your policies and
practices;• the process of developing practical policies and practices to address these issues; and• different state laws that have legalized marijuana, focusing on Midwest states.
