1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne,

and the hem of his robe filled the temple.

2 Seraphim were standing above him; they each had six wings: with two they covered

their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew.

3 And one called to another: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Armies;

his glory fills the whole earth.

4 The foundations of the doorways shook at the sound of their voices,

and the temple was filled with smoke.

5 Then I said: Woe is me for I am ruined because I am a man of unclean lips

and live among a people of unclean lips, and because my eyes have seen

the King, the Lord of Armies.

6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, and in his hand was a glowing coal

that he had taken from the altar with tongs.

7 He touched my mouth with it and said: Now that this has touched your lips,

your iniquity is removed and your sin is atoned for.

8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord asking: Who will I send? Who will go for us?

I said: Here I am. Send me.

9 And he replied: Go! Say to these people: Keep listening, but do not understand;

keep looking, but do not perceive.

10 Make the minds of these people dull; deafen their ears and blind their eyes;

otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears,

understand with their minds, turn back, and be healed.

11 Then I said, “Until when, Lord?” And he replied: Until cities lie in ruins without inhabitants,

houses are without people, the land is ruined and desolate,

12 and the Lord drives the people far away, leaving great emptiness in the land.

13 Though a tenth will remain in the land, it will be burned again. Like the terebinth or the oak

that leaves a stump when felled, the holy seed is the stump.

God’s Word - Devoted to Him

He has left footprints for us to follow.

Make no footprints of thine own!

PENNED PRAYERS

The LORD God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, and He will make me walk on my high hills.

Habakkuk 3:19

When was the last time you wrote a prayer with pen and ink? We have many methods of prayer, and we should

try all of them. But we have two great encouragements to add written prayers to the mix—our Bibles and our

hymnals.

In the Bible, many of our heroes wrote out their prayers. Study the Psalms, for example, and notice how many

are written prayers. The prophets, such as Jonah and Habakkuk, left us with recorded prayers on the printed page.

The apostle Paul composed prayers for most of his congregations.

In the hymnbook, many of our great songs are prayers written to

God and designed to be read and sung to Him. Think of the

hymn “How Great Thou Art.” The words aren’t written about God

but addressed to Him: “O Lord my God, when I in awesome

wonder . . .”

Sometimes we have trouble focusing our thoughts in prayer or

harnessing our emotions. In such times, it’s often

helpful to write out a prayer and perhaps then share it verbally.

God can read as well as He can hear; He knows

your scribbling as well as He knows your soul.

Robbery Without a Weapon “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse.” Malachi 3:10

The purpose of bringing the tithe is to further the work of Christ through the church in bringing salvation to men and women. This is our good and godly purpose given to us by the Lord Jesus Christ in the great commission. Note the Proposition. “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse that there might be meat in my Father’s house, and PROVE ME.” This is unbelievable! God is saying to you, “Put me (Almighty God) on trial. Prove me, try me, with the tithe!” This is one directive in the Scripture that can be put on a trial basis. We are challenged to return to Him the one-tenth that is rightly His and see whether or not He will let us be the loser. This is amazing condescension that God allows Himself to be put on trial by us in such a manner. If there is any doubt as to God’s existence, here is the way to prove Him. What a proposition—prove me, put me to the test! God’s appointed program for us is definitely the tithe. The tithe is a great place to start, but a miserable place to stop in our stewardship. In fact, in the purest biblical sense, a tither is simply a reformed thief. From Money Talks by O.S. Hawkins
