Feed the Hungry Friday: Bring in a canned good on non perishable item tomorrow and earn an Eagle Ticket for your Character Counts! Pillar.

Curriculum Night: Curriculum Night is scheduled for tonight from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm. This is an event for the parents to visit the school, meet the staff, and learn about the teacher and curriculum for the school year. The Bloomingdale Park District offers a Kids Curriculum Night with age appropriate games, activities, crafts, and more.

Go Orange Day: Please help feed our hungry neighbors by donating food at Erickson Elementary School. There is a box located in the front lobby for students to donate non perishable food items.

Spirit Day: Be BOLD and wear BLUE & GOLD tomorrow. The second Friday of the month is always designated as Spirit Day. Help your class win the Spirit Eagle & earn a prize from the PTO.

Donuts with Dad: We are inviting all dads to a special “Donuts with Dad” event sponsored by the PTO. Please look for the Donuts with Dad RSVP form coming home with students soon. Please let us know if you are coming so we order enough donuts. Dad can’t make it? No worries, invite another special adult in your life to attend.

Early Release Day: The first Early Release Day of the school year will take place on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. Students will be dismissed at 1:40 pm. During the afternoon, teachers will be working in grade level teams on Standards Based Grading & Reporting. Teachers from Erickson & DuJardin will collaborate on grade level standards, assessments, & instructional practices.

Pillar Day & Eagle Nest: We ask students to wear their Pillar Color on Wednesday as we celebrate PILLAR DAY at Erickson. Students will also participate in the first Eagle Nest of the Year. Students in second - fifth grade will remain in the same Eagle Nest as last school year. First grade students will meet their new Eagle Nest group on Wednesday. Students are placed into groups of 8-12 students from different grade levels to build more community & support for student social & emotional needs at Erickson Elementary School.

Fall Fundraiser Begins: The PTO Fall Fundraiser begins next Thursday. The Fall Fundraiser runs from September 19th - October 3rd. Product pick up will be during Parent Teacher Conferences.

From the Nurse: Immunizations, physicals, and eye exams for kindergarteners and students transferring in from out of state were due on the first day of school. Immunizations and physicals for new preschool students were due the first day, as well. Also, kindergarteners and 2nd graders must have a current dental record on file. These health, eye, and dental records should be given to Erickson’s nurse, Ms. Natalie Dykas. Parents/guardians of children for whom we do not have the proper health and eye records will receive a letter indicating the area of deficiency. These deficiencies should be cleared up by Monday, October 14th. Children for whom proper records are not on file will be excluded from school beginning on Tuesday, October 15th, 2019.

After School Clubs: There are many outside organizations that offer clubs at Erickson Elementary School throughout the school year. Click here to view flyers & info for clubs offered after school.

Picture Order Forms: Picture order forms should come home with students soon. Please check student backpacks for information. Parents can order pictures online or return the order forms on Picture Day, which is scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, 2019. Click here for order forms.

ENTREE KITCHEN: We have partnered w/ Entree Kitchen to provide quick & easy meal prep for our busy families. There are many different options to meet your family’s needs. Order online by 9/21 & have it delivered to your home or Erickson. Orders come frozen. See flyer for detailed info.

PORTILLO’S DINE OUT: Thank you families for joining us at our dine out event. It was great seeing the family support while supporting Erickson!

FALL FUNDRAISER: We have once again partnered with Charleston Wrap for our fall fundraiser. We hope you will join us to continue to raise funds for our students and school. Packets will come home with students September 19th. Thank you in advance for your support!

PTO DUES: If you have not paid your PTO dues, please submit envelope marked Erickson PTO, with family last name and student first name. Please remember, dues are $20 per family. Dues go towards costs for classroom parties, help to provide the many activities throughout the year and more.

PICTURE DAY: Picture Day is September 25th. Forms have been sent home with your students.

DONUTS WITH DAD: The PTO is sponsoring a Donuts with Dad event on 9/26 from 7:45 am - 8:35 am. Donuts with Dad is a fun time to share a donut and some special time before school. Donuts and juice will be served.

BOX TOPS: Box Top collection is underway! Clip & save Box Tops to send into school with your child. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents. The classroom that collects the most will win a treat from the PTO. There are three contests per year - the first one ending 10/23. There is also a NEW BOX TOPS APP that you can download & simply scan your receipt to earn money for the school. It’s easy to use! Eventually clipped Box Tops will be phased out so download the app today. See attached flyer for details. AMAZON SMILE: Don’t forget you can support the PTO when you shop on Amazon. 7:10 pm - 7:25 pm: Visit Fine Arts, Literacy, Special Education (Fine Arts Presentation in the Library)

7:25 pm - 8:00 pm Classroom Session 2

Curriculum Night is for parents to visit the classroom, meet the teacher, and learn about the curriculum and expectations for the school year. Each teacher will present information for the first portion of the session and leave opportunities for questions regarding curriculum towards the end.

Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place on November 25, 2019 and November 26, 2019.

Online sign up will be open from September 12 at midnight to November 20. After November 20, please contact the school office.

In order to register on the PTC Wizard parent website, please proceed with the following:1. Open the link (https://er13.ptcwizard.com/parent/) and click on Create Account! button 2. Fill out the form you are redirected to: type in your first name, last name, email address

and a password you would like to use to log in to PTC Wizard 3. Once you click on Register, you will be redirected to Add A Child form - fill it out and hit

SaveIn case you would like to add more than one child, you will be able to do so in Account settings once you log in (right top corner of the screen).

● After you hit Save, you will be prompted to give your consent to receive letters from PTC Wizard system via email (schedules, notifications about appointments being booked/canceled, etc.).
