Dear Friends in Christ,

On this Labor Day weekend, we are grateful to our loving God for the blessings given to us, especially the gift of work. We are co-creators with God as we use our minds, hands and feet to make a living and provide for our families. The church professes that work is a right of every person. Governments are charged with the duty to provide work for their citizens, as well as, fair pay and benefits/conditions for one to do their jobs. Please, join me in praying for the dig-nity of human labor with the following prayer taken from the USCCB.

Lord God, Master of the Vineyard, how wonderful that you have invited us who labor by the sweat of our brow to be workers in the vineyard and assist your work to shape the world around us. As we seek to respond to this call, make us attentive to those who seek work but cannot find it. Help us listen to the struggles of those who work hard to provide for their families but still have trouble making ends meet. Open our eyes to the struggles of those ex-ploited and help us speak for just wages and safe conditions, the freedom to organize, and time for renewal. For work was made for humankind and not humankind for work. Let it not be a vehicle for exploitation but a radiant expression of our human dignity. Give all who labor listening hearts that we may pause from our work to receive your gift of rest. Fill us with your Holy Spirit that you might work through us to let your justice reign.

Queridos amigos en Cristo:

En este fin de semana del Día del Trabajo, estamos agradecidos con nuestro Dios amoroso por las bendiciones que nos brinda, especialmente el don del trabajo. Somos cocreadores con Dios mientras usamos nuestras mentes, manos y pies para trabajar y proveer para nuestras familias. La iglesia profesa que el trabajo es un derecho de toda persona. Los gobiernos tienen la obligación de proporcionar trabajo a sus ciudadanos, así como, salarios justos y beneficios / condiciones para que uno haga su trabajo. Por favor, únanse a mí para orar por la dignidad del trabajo humano con la siguiente oración tomada de la Iglesia.

Señor Dios, Maestro de la Viña, qué maravilloso que nos hayas invitado a trabajar por el sudor de nuestra frente para ser trabajadores en la viña y ayudar en la edificación del mundo que nos rodea. A medida que buscamos responder a este llamado, haznos atentos a aquellos que buscan trabajo, pero no pueden encontrarlo. Ayúdenos a escuchar las luchas de aquellos que trabajan duro para mantener a sus familias pero que aún tienen dificultades económicas. Abra nuestros ojos a las luchas de los explotados y ayúdenos a luchar por salarios justos y condi-ciones seguras, y tiempo de descanso. Porque el trabajo fue hecho para la humanidad y no la humanidad para el trabajo, no permitas que sea un vehículo para la explotación, sino una expresión radiante de nuestra dignidad hu-mana. Provee a todos los que trabajan corazones que escuchan para que podamos detenernos de nuestro trabajo para recibir su regalo de descanso. Llénanos con tu Espíritu Santo para que sigamos cumpliendo tu voluntad de buscar justicia para todos. Amen.

Today, we hear Jesus say to us, “…when you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame and the blind; blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” With love for your neighbors who are poor, crippled, lame or blind, look around your house to see what fur-niture, household items, and clothing you no longer use…and give it to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Hoy escuchamos a Jesús decirnos: “... cuando celebres un banquete, invita a los pobres, a los lisiados, a los cojos y a los ciegos; Bienaventurado serás por su incapacidad de recompensarte. Porque serás recompensado en la resu-rrección de los justos”. Por amor hacia los prójimos pobres, lisiados, cojos o ciegos; busque alrededor de su casa y vea qué muebles, artículos para el hogar y ropa que ya no usa... y done todo eso a la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul.

The Catechists of St. Peter’s invite you to join us and share in our joy as we present our Level 1 Atrium to our parish. The Level 1 Atrium is for children aged 4 - 6 and is located in the Parrish Office building. Sunday, September 15th, after the 9:00 Mass, 10:30 Mass, and 12:00 Mass. We are looking forward to seeing you soon.

LET US SERVE YOU BETTER If you have difficulty walking up for Holy Com-munion, please sit in the FIRST PEW or in the SPECIAL NEED PEWS, which are located in the middle of the church, and Holy Communion will be brought to you.
