Annapolis Watercolor Club September 2012 PRESIDENT’S VIEWPOINT Sept 2012 Welcome back! As you know the Annapolis Watercolor Club begins its fiscal year in September. As such, for the first time you have received a statement regarding your membership status. Thank you to all those who have so promptly sent in your club dues. We have an exciting year ahead with new exhibition venues, a great variety of dem- onstrators and workshops, plus our annual trip to New York. Thank you to all our volunteers for keeping our club going strong! We do, however, have a current need to fill some of our most critical positions. First, we need a Recording Secretary; the secretary at- tends the monthly board meetings and records the minutes of the meeting. This is an important position and a great way to keep up with everything that is going on with the club! Second, our Trip Chair position is open; the trip chair organizes our annual trip to New York city and other trips closer to home throughout the year. This job requires or- ganization and careful planning but is extremely rewarding! Many thanks to Nadine Vauthier for taking on the web- master position from Annette Uroskie. Annette did a wonderful job keeping our site current but decided it was time to allow another to fill this vital position. Nadine has proven to be quite capable and responsive and I know she will do great things for us! There are always less involved volunteer jobs available. Volunteering is a sure way to get to know other members and contribute to the success of our club. Please contact me or any of our board members if you can fill any of these positions. Thank you for your consideration! And finally, I’d like to acknowledge the hard work of Brenda Larson and Dave Murphy for the success of our Annual Juried Show at the Maritime Museum. The show was beautiful and I’m proud of everyone who entered and perhaps stepped outside of their comfort zone with the theme, Best of the Bay. We sold 9 paintings; 20 percent of all the paintings that hung in the show! There were a huge number of attendees at the reception; thanks to the AWC SEPTEMBER MEETING: Featuring Brenda Will Kidera Ms. Kidera is a classical realist painter, moving freely between oil, watercolor and acrylic in a variety of subject matter: land- scape, still life, floral, portrait and wildlife. PRESIDENT’S VIEWPOINT Sept 2012 Welcome back! As you know the Annapolis Watercolor

Club begins its fiscal year in September. As such, for the

first time you have received a statement regarding your

membership status. Thank you to all those who have so

promptly sent in your club dues. We have an exciting year

ahead with new exhibition venues, a great variety of dem-

onstrators and workshops, plus our annual trip to New

York. Thank you to all our volunteers for keeping our club

going strong! We do, however, have a current need to fill

some of our most critical positions.

First, we need a Recording Secretary; the secretary at-

tends the monthly board meetings and records the minutes

of the meeting. This is an important position and a great

way to keep up with everything that is going on with the

club!

Second, our Trip Chair position is open; the trip chair

organizes our annual trip to New York city and other trips

closer to home throughout the year. This job requires or-

ganization and careful planning but is extremely rewarding!

Many thanks to Nadine Vauthier for taking on the web-

master position from Annette Uroskie. Annette did a

wonderful job keeping our site current but decided it was

time to allow another to fill this vital position. Nadine has

proven to be quite capable and responsive and I know she

will do great things for us!

There are always less involved volunteer jobs available.

Volunteering is a sure way to get to know other members

and contribute to the success of our club. Please contact

me or any of our board members if you can fill any of

these positions. Thank you for your consideration!

And finally, I’d like to acknowledge the hard work of

Brenda Larson and Dave Murphy for the success of our

Annual Juried Show at the Maritime Museum. The show

was beautiful and I’m proud of everyone who entered and

perhaps stepped outside of their comfort zone with the

theme, Best of the Bay. We sold 9 paintings; 20 percent of

As our President, Cathy Newman, mentioned, AWC needs a few members to step up to the plate and volunteer for some key positions. We need someone to act as Recording Secretary, and we need someone to volunteer to coordinate trips for our membership, as “Trip Chair” Won’t you consider volunteering your time and talents to our club? It is rewarding and interest-ing, and you get opportunities to get so much better acquainted with our talented membership. Thank you in advance for being willing to volunteer! The AWC is always looking for volunteers to help with our regular meetings, at workshops, paint-outs, exhibits and social events. The AWC officers do so many things to keep the Club going – it is much appreciated when others help by stepping up “for the greater good”! Here is a list of positions which need to be filled, if we are to function as a viable club: If you are inter-ested in helping in any way, please speak with any of our offi-cers. We are more than willing to find a place that fits your time and interest – be it a one-time event or something on an ongo-ing basis. AWC is a fun and easy group to work with – PLEASE JOIN US! - Karen McGady, AWC Newsletter Editor

If you enjoy the Wyeth family’s art, tours are now open for the Andrew Wyeth studio (NC's - his dad's studio) has had tours for many years now. As far as I know, this is the first time it has been opened to the public. The tours are offered through the Brandywine Museum. Here is the link for the info: http://www.brandywinemuseum.org/awstudio.html The tours end in October. It doesn't say if they will restart in the spring. –Trish Doty, Past AWC President
