    Respect for the Aged Day (

    Keir no Hi?) is a Japanese holiday

    celebrated annually to honorelderly

    citizens. A national holiday since 1966this was previously held on Septembe15. Beginning in 2003, Respect for th

    Aged Day is held on the third Mondayof September due to the HappyMonday System.

    This national holiday traces its origins

    to 1947, when Nomadani-mura (laterYachiyo-cho, currently Taka-cho),Hygo PrefectureproclaimedSeptember 15, Old Folks' Day(Toshiyori no Hi). Its popularity spreadnationwide, and in 1966 it took itspresent name and status. Annually,

    Japanese media take the opportunityto feature the elderly, reporting on thepopulation and highlighting the oldestpeople in the country.

    The Military Family Life Consultants (MFLC)

    program provides support for a range of issues

    including: relationships, crisis intervention, stress

    management, grief, occupational and other individual

    and family issues. Through the MFLC Program,

    licensed clinical providers assist service members

    and their families with issues they may face through

    the cycle of deployment.
