Police kill coyote or dog ... or both Bob Bauder Times Staff ALIQUIPPA — Aliquippa police killed an animal resembling a coyote this week that had been report- ed roaming the area of Baker Street. Police Chief Ralph Pal- lante was unsure whether the animal killed in woods off Baker Street Tuesday was the coyote that attacked one of his officers last week- end during a traffic stop along Route 51 near the Aliquippa-Hopewell Town- ship line. The coyote charged Sgt. Douglas Edgell around 9:30 p.m. as he was talking with a driver he had pulled over for speeding. Another offi- cer shot the animal, and it ran into the woods. Police could not find it afterward. Pallante said the animal killed Tuesday, weighing 30 to 40 pounds, had a reddish tint and could have been a coyote, a dog or a coydog — a coyote-dog mix. More flights added here Bob Bauder Times Staff FINDLAY TWP. — Three air- lines are planning addition- al daily flights from Pitts- burgh International Airport to cities on the eastern seaboard, the Allegheny County Airport Authority reported Thursday. Starting Wednesday, US Airways will add a flight to LaGuardia Airport in New York City. The airline also added one flight to LaGuardia last month, according to airport spokes- woman JoAnn Jenny. She said Southwest Air- lines has added one flight to Philadelphia.
