August Monthly Sunday Lunch – Youth Day Celebrations Six young couples wonderfully attired in traditional costumes got the afternoons‘ events going when they swayed and hopped to two beautiful traditional Portuguese folk dances, ‗Cama sha‘ and ‗Regine Do‘. A truly inspiring performance by Caitlin De Souza, Shoshanna Beins, Jess Shanks, Peter De Mello, Chad Beins Jnr, Brent Simons and Jermaine Beins. Caitlin (2006), Shoshanna (2009), Peter De Mello (2007) and Jermaine (2010), were all winners of the Ida De Silva Music Award in their respective years. A band of 11 talented young musicians and singers then took to the stage and belted out songs by Mi-chael Buble, Red Hot Chillie Peppers, Michael Jackson & Katy Perry and finished the afternoons‘ enter-tainment with their amazing rendition of ‗In The Mood‘....brass instruments and all!!! Well done. You were all MAGNIFICENT!! There is no better way to highlight a celebration than with a grudge soccer match between the Youth and Veterans. Once again the winner was decided by a solitary goal in extra time. The day ended with a sausage sizzle and drinks while the Winners Trophy was handed to the triumphant Youth Team. Con-gratulations….again! My grateful thanks to Thelma Minjoot who taught the youth the Portuguese Dances, our sponsors and donors who provided gifts and lunch for our participants and the sausage sizzle. A big thank you to eve-ryone who helped make the day a truly enjoyable celebration for all our Youth.
