The coronavirus pandemic is a major threat to our entire global society. To help slow the spread of COVID-19 and mitigate the danger of overburdened health systems, country-wide lockdowns have been implemented worldwide.

CovidDeep uses a neural network trained to recognize patterns in obtained biometric data via deep learning.

To fully enable the neural network’s capabilities, we need to provide it with enough data to distinguish between healthy, asymptomatic, and symptomatic patients. We need your help to support this study.

No wires, no needles, no pain. It simply involves placing a smartwatch/smartphone on the individual for an hour. Data are initially needed only from 120 individuals (30 in each of four categories - healthy vs. asymptomatic vs. symptomatic but not severe vs. severe) for a total of 90 hours of data collection.

Thus, with 10 smartwatch/smartphone pairs collecting data in parallel, this would only take 12 hours of data collection. It will take approximately 2-3 days to train the neural network after all the data have been collected. Within two weeks after that, the neural network can be placed on the smartphone and tested in the field to enable widespread adoption. This would allow us to relatively safely open the economy in a very cost-effective way.
