Iwas at North Topsail Island, North Carolina. It was time to go to the Gulf Coast where our family gathers each July for vacation, but my car had a problem that the dealer could not

figure out. I was debating on whether to fly or rent a car to drive down, when I received a clear word from the Lord to ride my motorcycle.

I love riding, but I had never traveled even half that far on a motorcycle before, and the weather forecast predicted almost continual afternoon storms along the route. Riding a motorcycle is much more fun than driving a car, but much harder too. Motorcycle miles are to car miles about what dog years are to human years—a hundred miles in a car can be like several hundred miles on a motorcycle. From North Topsail to our place on the Gulf Coast is about nine hundred miles. However, the word from the Lord was

enjoyable. The Lord was speaking louder and clearer than I could ever remember outside of a prophetic experience. It was like He was riding on the back of my bike. It was a hot, southern, summer day, and the storms were so refreshing I started hoping for more.

LESSON #1: When you are directed by the Lord and stay close to Him, you can go through anything. He will turn even your darkest storms into times of refreshing.

Don’t we usually approach the storms of life with dread? James said to “count it all joy when you fall into various trials” (see James 1:2 NKJV), because the testing

of our faith is more valuable than gold. How many of us really value our trials like great treasures? A renewed mind that is a heavenly-minded perspective will see every trial as a great treasure. This is a mark of spiritual maturity that looks at everything from an eternal perspective.

clear, so I planned the trip expecting to make three to four overnight stops along the way.

My first stop was Charleston to see my daughter Amber’s new house and to join my son Ben and my wife Julie for Ben’s birthday dinner. The next morning I left at about 9:30 hoping to get as far as Jacksonville, Florida, or maybe Lake City, before having to stop for the night. By noon I had been through two storms. I considered stopping for each one, which is normally a given on a motorcycle, but I heard the Lord say to keep going. I did.

It was easy going through those storms. I passed dozens of other bikers hunkered down at gas stations and under overpasses, staring at me as I went by. What

Paul said in Acts 14:22 that it was through many tribulations that we enter the kingdom. This is because in every tribulation, or trial, there is a gateway to the kingdom. When we start looking at trials in this way, we will start counting them as joy, seeing them as the great opportunities they are.

NOTE: I must add a word of caution here. If I had not heard the Lord’s voice so clearly, I would have parked somewhere just like everyone else. I do not enter obvious dangers without clear guidance. To do otherwise can be presumption, which is a form of pride, and “God resists the proud, but gives His grace to the humble” (see James 4:6 NKJV) I’m just sayin’….

Even though the ride had been so enjoyable, it took a lot of concentration. As I passed Jacksonville, I was about as tired as I wanted to get while riding. When I stopped to eat and look online for local hotels, I heard the Lord say to keep going. It was another hour or so to Lake City, so I took off

again thinking that would be a good place to spend the night.

Again it was like the Lord was riding on the back of my bike. He was speaking more clearly than I ever remember hearing His voice in conversation. We talked, but not about anything serious or strategic. It was more like two friends on a road trip. When I asked Him

about the transition into a new phase that some of my prophetic friends had told me I was about to enter, He said that day was the beginning of our new relationship. He said that I was no longer a servant, I was now a friend.

I knew the Scripture well when the Lord told His disciples that they were no longer servants, but friends (see John 15:15). I have been teaching for years on being a friend of God. However, I knew instantly that I had not really had that relationship with Him, regardless of how well I had been able to teach it. My whole relationship to Him had been as a servant. When I came before Him, it was as a servant seeking instructions, or as a soldier coming to receive orders.

This was very different than I had ever experienced. It was honestly hard for me to relate to the Lord as a friend. I felt awkward. I kept reverting back to seeking what He wanted me to do. Finally He said, “Labor is cheap. Friendship is expensive, but sons are priceless.”

Whenever I started to talk about something I was working on for Him, He would gently but firmly chastise me. He said that He could get many others to do the work, but He did not have many friends. This was very troubling, and I was deeply convicted. I had taught for forty years how we are called into fellowship with the Son, and about being the friend of God, but I had not done it very well, if at all. Like many, I had been trapped in the delusion of thinking that because I knew something and taught it, I was therefore doing it. I was not.

I thought that I was actually in danger of being one of those who had done many things for the Lord, yet might hear those terrible words, “I never knew you” (see Matthew 7:23). I asked Him if this was true, and He said that it was, just as it is for many of His hardest workers. He said that His pleasure in us is not just in what we do, “labor is cheap,” but His greatest pleasure is in what we become. He repeated that He had many workers but not many friends. For all

of the works I’ve done, the prophetic experiences, and even the visitations I’ve had, these are not the fellowship with us that He seeks. They are important because we are here to do His will. But nothing we do will ever be a substitute for what we are called to be.

The Lord said that He would need to deliver me from my slave mentality for me to really grasp the deepest issues of His heart. Becoming a friend was a start, but becoming a son was the goal. He also said that one cannot come to the place of being His friend or a son without first becoming a good servant.

To my amazement, I was not getting more tired, but my knees were hurting. I asked the Lord to heal them. He said, “Keep going.” By Lake City I had already equaled my longest ride in a day, over 320 miles. Then the Lord again said, “Keep going.” So I determined to go on even though there were no more major towns along the route until Tallahassee, almost 200 more miles. I got off the Interstate and onto

Highway 90 which I knew would be slower and had to be more interesting than the Interstate.

Highway 90 was stunning! I could not believe how beautiful the farms, ranches, lakes, and fields were. It should be a scenic highway. Every town was unique. Some were amazingly beautiful. Except for going around major cities, I decided I would not get on another Interstate, if at all possible. I immediately recognized that my fellowship with the Lord was much greater on Highway 90. We discussed the farms, churches, towns, and had time to enjoy them. The Interstate had not only been boring and uniform, it represented a pace that was not conducive to this fellowship.

I also felt that my knees were getting better, and I was feeling stronger. I know this had to do with the presence of the Lord, but it also had to do with slowing down so that I could recognize and enjoy His presence. I began to see how much of my life was run at such a speed that I


was not seeing Him in most of it, or walking through it with Him as I should.

The best part of all was how the Lord began to speak to me about almost everything that got my attention. Throughout the whole trip, we did not discuss any great prophetic revelation, no strategy, just conversation—fellowship.

I tried to thank the Lord continually for things like the weather, the creation, people who came to mind, etc. When we passed a baseball field, I thanked Him for baseball, and He told me why He liked the game. I have for decades wondered what the Lord thought of sports. But in all of the experiences in which I had seen Him, it never entered my mind to ask Him. I did not have that kind of relationship with Him then. That day I asked Him what He thought of sports and was really surprised by His answer.

Now you need to get your own relationship with Him and ask Him things like this,

but I will tell you generally what He said. He loves the things we love and have fellowship around, if they are not morally or spiritually harmful. He enjoys us enjoying them, as long as they do not become idols that eclipse Him and other important relationships in our affections.

Yes, I did ask Him if He would help some of my favorite teams win, and I got a quick “no.” He said He sometimes uses sports to speak to us because they have so much of our attention, but He will not violate the

principle that success comes from hard work, diligence, study, perseverance, and such things.

Also, here is an interesting thought: What we call “luck” is not random, but a reaping of what we sow. If we cheat, we have stored up bad consequences. If we play our sport with integrity and the higher ways of “loving our enemies” or opponents, then we store up good consequences. These are spiritual laws that are as sure as natural laws, and they do have consequences, even in our games.

These are my words, not His, and there are other factors that can have implications, but as we live under the domain of the King, which is to live in His kingdom, these laws apply and will prevail in every situation. The key to the kingdom is to seek first the kingdom, which is to do everything putting kingdom interests first.

I cannot describe how much I enjoyed this change from being a slave to being a friend, but I had a hard time getting my head around it. It was wonderful, but hard

at the same time. I have many really good friendships, but this fellowship with the Lord was the best I have ever experienced with anyone, even though it was so awkward for me. He is the most wonderful, enjoyable Person we can ever be with, but He is also Almighty God.

I have often thought about how Judas was familiar with Jesus, but John was intimate. There is a difference. As intimate as John was with the Lord, even after many more decades of walking with Him, when he had the Revelation and saw the Lord,

he fell down at His feet as a dead man. It is not easy to be an intimate friend of the Lord if we see Him the way He truly is, but it is our highest calling and what we were created for.

I also think my difficulties with this are often because of the carnal nature I still possess and the earthly human nature I am more in touch with than the new creation I am supposed to be. I know now more than ever I have only tasted the new creation life we are called to live. I have only visited it, but have not lived it.

Using the biblical metaphor of the Tabernacle of Moses, most of my life has been spent in the Outer Court where the work is done. When you enter behind the first veil into the Holy Place, the walls are all covered with embroidered angelic majesties, which represent that when we enter here, we enter the heavenly realm. I have only made a few visits there, but have spent most of my life in the Outer Court doing the hard labor.


A prophetic friend called me last year to verify a prophetic experience I had. He said that I was now called to live “beyond the veil.” I think he was talking about this first veil. I have much to learn about living there before going into the Holy of Holies, though I have had a couple of visits there too. The Lord will visit many places He will not dwell in, and I think we visit many places we do not dwell in either. Having experienced something does not mean we are living it.

Most of what we call ministry today is Outer Court service. What takes place in the Holy Place is not ministry to people, but ministry to the Lord. What takes place beyond the last veil is not ministry to the Lord, but union with Him. I am just now starting to grasp what that means, when a month ago I thought I not only knew this very well, but was living it. Not so.

I am now a brand-new baby friend of the Lord. I’m trying to learn to be a better friend every day. I am

learning to minister to the Lord, not just for Him. It is a huge stretch and not easy, but far more fulfilling than anything I’ve ever done.

I still have a lot to learn about being a better servant. That work is by no means finished in me. There is far more for me to learn about the humility He gives His grace to. Even though He has shown me how I can approach Him differently now, I will never be able to approach Him without His blood.

Now that He has said I am no longer a servant, but a friend, I can grow in the grace of God by humility, and a true relationship will always result in becoming more humble, not more arrogant or proud. If I ever attain to what it means to be a son, it too will come by greater humility, not greater arrogance. The more we live in that relationship, the more it will result in greater humility, because walking in greater grace requires greater humility.

On that motorcycle ride, the Lord began to show me

the different kind of authority I now have as His friend. He also showed me some of the authority that comes with being a son. Many distorted teachings and heresies about these things are being promoted now, but much of this is the result of the rejection of the clear biblical truth about them. This truth must be recovered because the time is near. I will have more to say about this later.

This was not only the best motorcycle ride I have had, but one of the best days I have ever had. When I reached Pensacola, and neared Perdido Beach, I had already gone more than twice as far as I had ever ridden in a day before, and I felt that I could easily keep going. I was more refreshed than before I began the journey. For years I had not been able to run, dance, and often just stand up without pain. I felt like running around the house. It’s amazing what being with the Lord will do.

LESSON #2: When we dwell in the presence of the Lord, we have far more endurance than we would

otherwise. We can go much further than we might even be able to imagine, as His Spirit will “quicken our mortal bodies” (see Romans 8:11 KJV).

I got up the next morning to do my usual routine: pray, read, and write for several hours. I am very close to finishing what I think will be an important book, and I felt that I could finish it while on vacation. However, His presence was so strong that I knew this would be different. It was. He asked me to put the work away, repeating that “labor is cheap.”

I obeyed, but it was harder than I could have imagined. It was almost like a physical reflex all day as I kept on wanting to work on the book. As I persevered, the fellowship with the Lord was as good as during the ride the day before. I felt like I had been born again, again. It was a new beginning. Even so, I felt guilty because I had not accomplished anything. He said that what I accomplished that day was far more valuable than anything I could have written. I saw

clearly how much I thought my value to Him was for what I could do, not who I was. This is really wrong, but I’m still fighting it.

Usually during July when we take a sabbatical month, I have some of my most extraordinary dreams and prophetic experiences. For this reason, this has long been the most exciting month of the year for me. I did not have any of these types of revelations this July. What I had was hours of conversation with the Lord.

I feel like Job when, after the Lord appeared to him, he said he had only known the Lord by “the hearing of the ear, but now I see you and repent in dust and ashes” (see Job 42:5-6). Now obviously I have known the Lord, but only in a very shallow way. He also only had a very shallow part of me.

One day the Lord let me feel, in some measure, the grief that human conflict causes Him. It radically changed the way I pray for everything from war, to the conflict between

political parties, and even arguments between people. I now understand His love and appreciation for the peacemakers like never before. This was very painful, but it is a part of being friends. I want to feel what He feels, at least to the degree that I can.

He also showed me why He is a warrior, and why I have been called as a spiritual warrior, living in some of the times of the greatest conflict to come upon the earth. Even so, why we fight is critical. He showed me how I had revenge in my heart on one issue I am now involved in—a court battle. I had not seen it that way. I just thought I was seeking repayment for the way our rights had been violated. He said that He had no revenge in His heart, and that if I was going to have His heart, there could be no revenge in it.

The purpose of His warriors will always be to fight for what alone can bring true peace. Our basic ministry is that of reconciliation to Him, and by this, to one another. I now


have a much greater vision of what our ultimate peace is and the paths that lead to it, which are often

battles, as contradictory as this may seem.

I’m sure much of this sounds elementary.

I have known these things too. I taught them and thought I

knew them well, but they were not in my heart or in many of my actions. There can be a big difference between what is

in our minds and what is in our hearts.

As I have taught often, and correctly, not many Christians are true bondservants of the Lord. Many may claim to be, but they are really just living for themselves. Most try to use the Lord as their servant, rather than become His. A bondservant is not their own, and they possess nothing of their own. Even their time belongs to Him. Few grasp this and begin to live this life. Those who do will ultimately find the most fulfilling life they could ever have, as well as the greatest liberty they could ever know. There is no freedom like we find when we become His slave. He is the most wonderful, loving Master we could ever have. Even so, being a bondservant is a life of learning to do His will and to sacrifice our own will in everything, and this is just a beginning.

I would never claim to be a perfect bondservant, or even a good one. I’m thankful that He grades on a curve based on grace and mercy. However, I did try to make the sacrifices He

called me to make and to

do the hard things He called me to do. I must have done this well enough that I got a “promotion.”

The foundation of servant-hood must be laid before we are called to friendship. The better we have been at being servants, the better we will be at being His friends. Only His best friends are brought into the family as sons and daughters. Even those must mature in being His joint heirs and carrying the authority of a son or daughter. This is what the Apostle Paul was talking about in Philippians chapter 3, when he said near the end of his life that he did not consider that he had yet attained. He was not talking about eternal life, which he had the day he believed in the atonement of Jesus. He was talking about what he referred to as “the high calling of God in Christ” (see Philippians 3:14 KJV).

I have just begun to walk in the second, elementary level of the relationship to Him that we are called to. Several weeks ago I did not know what true friendship

with the Lord was. Now I want to be the best friend I can possibly be, but I also want to keep getting better at being a faithful servant too. Once you lay a foundation, you do not quit using it, but you walk in it every day.

When I told the Lord I felt that I still had much to learn about being a good servant, He said that it was only by keeping this attitude that I would escape the pride that would cause me to lose my reward. To lose our reward is not the same as losing our eternal life. However, there are rewards that we do earn and must learn to seal them. Having a calling is not the same as having a commission. We must make our calling and election sure.

LESSON # 3: If I had not obeyed the Lord to do this ride, I would have missed this calling.

This is not to imply that I would have missed it forever. I may have gotten other chances, but that is not guaranteed. Many of the ancients have written about

receiving a revelation that if Moses had not turned aside to see the burning bush, he would have missed his calling. There is something about being sensitive enough to the Lord to hear His call and obedient enough to respond that is required for the call. There is also something about being more sensitive to Him than we are to our daily routines and personal preferences that is required to hear His call. We have a confirmation to this in the Song of Solomon 5:2-6:

“I was asleep but my heart was awake. A voice! My beloved was knocking: ‘Open to me, amy sister, my darling, My dove, my perfect one! For my head is drenched with dew, My locks with the damp of the night.’

“I have taken off my dress, how can I put it on again? I have washed my feet, how can I dirty them again?

“My beloved extended his hand through the opening, and my feelings were aroused for him.


“I arose to open to my beloved; and my hands adripped with myrrh, and my fingers with liquid myrrh, on the handles of the bolt.

“I opened to my beloved, but my beloved had turned away and had gone! My heart went out to him as he spoke. I searched for him but I did not find him; I called him but he did not answer me.”

Here we see that the Shulamite maid, a type of the bride of Christ, was too comfortable to respond to her Love when He first knocked on the door. Therefore, by the time she repented and responded, He was gone. Are we too comfortable? Do we esteem our comfort more than responding to Him? He will almost never call us at a convenient time, because this is a part of the test of our love.

T he Day of Pentecost was the transitional

moment in human history. The Spirit of God was poured out on His people to inaugurate them as a different kind of humanity. According to Acts 1:8, the power of the Spirit was given to these people that they could be God’s witnesses. This means that their lives would represent and reveal Him to the earth. Their lives would testify that God and

His kingdom were near or “at hand” (see Mark 1:15).

In the previous two “True Theology” articles, we examined several aspects of salvation theology, or soteriology. In the next two articles, we will explore various facets of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. The theology of the Holy Spirit is called pneumatology.

The Spirit-filled church is meant to be a community of “kingdom people,” representatives of the kingdom of God. To appreciate our identity as kingdom people, we must have a basic understanding of what the Scriptures mean by “kingdom of God.” The biblical teaching of the kingdom of God is usually interpreted in one of two ways. First, the kingdom of God may refer to God’s authority and dominion over the kingdoms and powers of this age (see Matthew 12:28; Mark 9:1; Luke 10:8-11). Second, the kingdom of God may refer to a future age in which Jesus will reign bodily as King over all creation (see

Mark 14:24-25; Luke 13:28-29, 22:28-30). Whichever of these interpretations is correct, as “kingdom people” we somehow disclose God’s kingdom (either His present authority or His future kingship) to the earth.

The Authority of the King and the Age of His Dominion

It seems that there is significant biblical evidence for both of these interpretations and both are valid. The kingdom of God refers to His power and authority in this age and His literal reign in the age to come. Further, it is clear from Scripture, as we will see, that the kingdom of God manifests by His Spirit through His people.

The Holy Spirit enables God’s people to exercise His dominion over the powers of this age and to bring the age to come into our present day. When Jesus commissioned His followers to “preach the kingdom of God” (see Luke 9:2) and “heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead,


cast out demons” (see Matthew 10:7-8), He made a connection between the nearness of the kingdom of God and the miraculous powers in which believers are called to walk. In other words, the presence of the kingdom of God manifests through His people in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus’ first-century audience would have been acutely sensitive to His language of the immanence of the kingdom of God. They were waiting for the kingdom of God to come (see Luke 23:51). To them, Jesus meant that Messiah would soon come to set up the kingdom of God on earth. He would vanquish their enemies, throw off Roman political oppression, become their king, and initiate a new age of the presence of God on earth.

For Jesus to say “the kingdom of God is at hand” (see Mark 1:15) meant that the defeat of their enemies and the reign of God on earth were about to begin. Further, for Him to say, “But if I cast out

demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you” (Matthew 12:28) meant that the reign of God on the earth had already begun through Him. They would have understood Jesus to mean, “The age to come, which you have been waiting for, is already here. I have brought the age to come into the present moment.”

An Eschatological People

Jesus gave His followers simple instructions. His commission to the seventy was the same as His commission to the twelve: perform miraculous signs by the Spirit of God and preach the immanence of His kingdom (see Matthew 10, Luke 9–10). His commission to believers today is no different. When we walk in the power of the Spirit, we announce the coming of His kingdom. We walk in dominion over the powers of this age because, by the Spirit, we impose the powers of the age to come into the present day. In this sense, we are an “eschatological people” who bring the future

into the present. Eschatology is the “study of last things” or the theology of the future.

In Gordon Fee’s excellent book; Paul, the Spirit, and the People of God, he expounds the identity of the church as an eschatological people. Fee explains that the Holy Spirit “enables us to live as a radically eschatological people in the present world while we await the consummation [of the ages]. All the rest, including fruit and gifts [of the Spirit]… serve to that end.” Fee goes on to explain that this is the primary reason the Spirit of God has been given to the church, to inaugurate us as an “eschatological people.”

Spirit-filled believers live in the present age as citizens of the age to come. We walk in authority over sickness, because in the age to come, there is no sickness. We walk in authority over demons, because in the age to come, demons have no dominion. We carry the presence of God, because in the age to come, the presence of God dominates the atmosphere.

The Morning Star

In Scripture there is a prophetic picture which illustrates these realities, the Morning Star. Throughout antiquity, the Morning Star was an astronomical indicator of time. For thousands of years, men measured time by the position of the sun during the day and the position of the stars at night. Therefore, late in the darkness of night, the Morning Star would shine over the horizon and announce to the earth “the night is coming to an end and a new day is dawning.”

The prophetic significance of this phenomenon is that the Morning Star is not a star, it is the planet Venus. As a planet, Venus has no light of its own; it merely reflects the light of the coming sun. In Scripture, the church is promised to display the characteristics of the Morning Star (see II Peter 1:19; Revelation 2:28). Further, in the Word of God, the sun is often a picture of Jesus, the Son of God (see Malachi 4:2; II Samuel 23:4) and the sun

shining above the earth is a picture of the Son (the King) reigning over His kingdom.

As the church steps into the Morning Star identity, we begin to shine brightly in the midst of the night. We reflect the glory of the Son Who is coming, and our very lives announce that the night is ending and a new day is breaking forth. Sennacherib’s Threat

“A nd when Hezekiah saw that

Sennacherib had come and that his purpose was to make war against Jerusalem…” (II Chronicles 32:2).

The challenges before us today, regardless of how numerous and frightening they appear, can only prevent us from accomplishing the will of God if we place more faith in their ability to stop

us than in God who has called and positioned us for this hour.

Bursting with arrogance and pride, Sennacherib, the cruel and wicked king of Assyria, defiantly boasted in his ability to gain control and bring down Jerusalem as well as the entire nation of Judah. The king declared, “Who is there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed that could deliver his people from my hand, that

your God should be able to deliver you from my hand?” (II Chronicles 32:14)

Sennacherib’s true intentions were becoming more and more apparent to Hezekiah, his leaders, and the people. Sennacherib, whose name means bramble of destruction, had come to make war against the cities of Judah. Anyone who would not submit, or who stood in his way, would have to be removed or destroyed, which included Hezekiah,

After making preparations strategically and militarily, (see II Chronicles 32:5-6), Hezekiah gathered the people and encouraged them with this advice: “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles” (see II Chronicles 32:7-8).

Those who followed Sennacherib rose up in defense of their king and angrily spoke out against the Lord God and His servant Hezekiah. They called out with a loud voice in the language of the people of Jerusalem, “to frighten them and trouble them, that they might take the city” (see II Chronicles 32:18).

Later we get a clearer picture of the situation facing Hezekiah and how

the king of Judah. The future of an entire nation and that of future generations were hanging in the balance.

Yet Hezekiah did what anyone facing the prospect of captivity, tyranny, and destruction should do. He called upon his God, who alone could deliver them from any conspiracy, plot, or evil strategy of a wicked and ambitious king whose hunger for power and hatred for God dictated his every move.


he responded, when we read, “Therefore wrath was looming over him, (Hezekiah) and over Judah and Jerusalem” (see II Chronicles 32:25). Sennacherib had already gained much territory and was pushing hard toward Jerusalem. The situation looked hopeless.

Yet the Scriptures declare, “Then Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the Lord did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah” (II Chronicles 32:26).

King Hezekiah stood face to face with the evil king of Assyria who was doubling down in his effort to destroy Judah. But Sennacherib’s threat was not overcome with Judah’s military might or by their negotiations or compromises. Hezekiah, along with the people, humbled themselves before the Lord their God. Hezekiah and Isaiah the prophet prayed and cried out to heaven.

Hezekiah’s leadership in this looming crisis opened the door for the following to occur: “Now because of this King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah, the son of Amoz, prayed and cried out to heaven. Then the Lord sent an angel who cut down every mighty man of valor, leader, and captain in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned shamefaced to his own land. And when he had gone into the temple of his god, some of his own offspring struck him down with the sword there. Thus the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all others, and guided

them on every side” (II Chronicles 32:20-22).

Darkness arises in every generation as a bramble of destruction. Yet history confirms that salvation and deliverance come from where they always have come—from above.

Restoration of America:Education Part I

S ecularism is the malformed child of the dalliance

between Protestantism and the Enlightenment. The American institutions of education delivered this heretical ward of Christianity to the populace. Essentially, Protestant control of American education ran amok and produced secularism. Understanding how this happened will help Christians to no longer see themselves as victims of secularism. It will also change the debate allowing Christians to wrestle with the issues of influencing education in a post-Christian world.

The long held view of evangelical Christians is that the secularists wrested control of education away from Christians by removing The Bible and prayer from our nation’s schools. The truth is that Christians lost much of their influence of education in the nineteenth century, and it was fully divested by the turn of the twentieth century.

The Puritans of New England established America’s

first college merely six years after settling in the New World. In fact, for several decades thereafter they had the highest per capita university-educated men. The early American colleges such as Yale and Harvard carried the New England Puritan ethic and worldview. They saw the purpose of education as a support to civilization and aimed to create virtuous citizens.1

In the early 1800s, most college builders were heirs to the Great Awakening, classicism, enlightenment moralism, and formal Christian practices. Presbyterians and Anglicans were the dominate influencers of the educational sphere. After the Second Great Awakening, Yale became the birthing place of cultural reformation further spreading the New England Puritan heritage.2 University historian, George Marsden, recounts that, “by the 1830s the combined budgets of the agencies of this ‘united

evangelical front’ rivaled that of the federal government.”3

The New Englanders were writing the nation’s textbooks, and founding colleges, towns, and hamlets. Clergyman Lyman Beecher championed the charge of preparing America as a nation to lead into the millennium.4 Since America had no state church to civilize the nation as a whole, education was seen as the method in which to reach this end. The Protestant/Whig ideal was to create a universal public system that encapsulated the New England worldview. 5

However, this process was highly sectarian and other groups were beginning to protest. Catholics were excluded from this process along with any other denomination that did not share the Presbyterian or Anglican doctrine prevalent in the colleges. Attempts for state funding of alternative schools were denied, and parochial school education was generally ostracized in 3 Ibid, p. 834 Ibid, p. 845 Ibid, p. 87


favor of the leading sectarian doctrine. In order to appease a greater constituency, the schools began to shift toward nonsectarian teachings.

They looked for universal doctrine that could appeal to all groups with a focus on teaching The Bible without theology that may be particular to one group over another. The new focus elevated morality over theology. The schools would remain Christian and appeal to the broad base of Christian Americans. Notwithstanding, the biblical teachings began to drift as is evident in a comparison study between McGuffey’s first Eclectic Readers and the later editions.6

Finally, the education molders gave way to the myth of common sense. Morality now devoid of theology created the assumption that moral virtues and Christian practices were common sense and not derived only from special revelation. Even more, science was the new fashion. Since science was a study of God’s world, 6 Ibid, p. 89

it was then thought that it should be free to lead in the discovery of truth. Science became preeminent over, and unrestrained by, theology. The common belief was that science would enhance the learning of truth about God’s world. Moreover, it was not conceived that it could produce anything less than truth. Meanwhile, European science had become unmoored from its Christian heritage, and its conclusions were drifting away from biblical truth.

Vishal Mangalwadi professes that, “secularism is a Christian heresy.”7 Reading Marsden’s work, The Soul of the American University, it is easy to see this truth. Secularism is Christian morality devoid of God. It is also a deification of science. It has become the dominant cultural molder of our modern world. However, it became so because Christians abdicated their role as cultural shapers to promote a more palatable universal philosophy removed from any framework

of theology. The result was a culture that valued morality as a human idea and science as the way of truth.

Princeton University stood as the last bastion of Christian Presbyterian education in the mid-1800s. They held onto the infallibility of Scripture amid the Darwinian critiques of the day. The irony is that they affirmed the position of their critics by making their stand without changing the

debate. Princeton President Dr. McCosh, and his protégée Warfield, appealed to science and reason to prove the reliability of The Bible. Warfield believed that if Christianity was true, as he believed it to be, science would prove it to be so. Essentially, they were looking to science to validate God’s revelation, rather than to God’s revelation to validate science. Instead of changing the debate and restoring the authority of God over science, they let science

reign as supreme and saw it as the eventual savior of Christianity.8

Secularism had a quiet rise to influence because, during this time, colleges were transitioning from a liberal arts education to a special skill education to establish authority credentials for professionals. Remanding theology to the divinity schools left a black hole of influencing philosophy on all other subjects which secularism soon filled. Still advocating their universities to be Christian, the educators saw no necessity to apply The Bible to the sciences, history, or special skills of the industrial era. They did not see any relevance of The Bible to training engineers for the steam engine, steel industry, or electrical revolution. The age of New England Puritan influence retreated quietly into history and the modern age dawned.9

Moral values prevailed because they had been borrowed by secularism. The Christian character still

shaped Americans to a large degree, but the theology behind that character was now only taught in church, parochial schools, and in the home.

Christians began to see America as Babylon, rather than a nation set apart to God. The mission of the church was no longer to create a great nation, but to wait for the Lord’s return. For a time, the Religious Right attempted to charge back into culture and stand up against the secularization of America, but that stand failed to create a sustainable reformation.

Christians are once again realizing their mandate to disciple nations. Knowing where we went off road in the past helps us not repeat the same mistakes in the future. The debate we need to have must be how to influence education without the problems of sectarianism in a nation that has grown into a culture of many religions rather than many denominations. How do we honor the free expression of beliefs without falling into the same quagmire?

Ironically, just as Protestant education dominated the market, now secularism dominates the sphere. The Protestant-dominated education never found a way to foster inclusion without compromise, and now we are the ones excluded. Instead of creating an open marketplace of ideas, it created a stronghold of one idea that prevails to this day.

We now find ourselves, by our own doing, on the outside of cultural influence. We know we cannot force a stronghold of secular dominance to stand aside for our way of thinking. We also cannot sit on the sidelines and blame secularists for developing philosophy in the absence of Christian influence. That would be like a parent blaming a child for its illegitimate birth. Except here we are, speaking of a philosophy rather than a created being.

Instead, we need Daniels, Josephs, and Esthers to serve in the high places of influence within the educational institutions.

It is interesting to note that in reading the history of American universities, only a handful of people in each generation were the dominant players driving the philosophical shifts from the top. It does not take a mass movement of Christians to change American education; it only takes a remnant of people willing to serve in close proximity to the mind molders of education. It takes a few people, full of the Holy Spirit, who are willing to serve the nation from within the nation’s schools. This time, instead of imposing strict doctrines, we must demonstrate a kingdom that cannot be shaken.

There are three storms you will encounter: The

storm God sends, the storm that bad decisions create, and the storm the enemy sends! Each storm is navigated differently.

Storm #1

The storm God sends is intense but designed to get you to the other side larger and more liberated than you ever would have been if you avoided the sea and played it safe. God sent a storm to chase Jonah out of resistance and into the perfect will of God—in Nineveh, the place he was avoiding.

From the belly of the great fish Jonah cried, “Those who regard worthless idols forsake their own mercy” (see Jonah 2:8). (And the fish spat him up on location.) An idol is something keeping you from God’s greater thing—His mercy, His undeserved blessing. An idol is anything you love more than God. Many a storm is sent to break a hidden attachment from your life. It may be the

fear of man, an addiction, or a person or influence that does not belong there. The idol is almost always seeking something more than what pleases the Lord. Jonah made his own agenda greater than God’s. He was delivered when he yielded; and the entire time he was in distress, the fish was taking him to his destiny.

Storm #2

The storm of bad decisions may be due to choices you made or that others made that affected you. Paul was nearly drowned in a decision made by others to sail when they should have stayed in harbor. Many Christians are downright frustrated with the choices of leaders in government because they know the end result will be loss of cargo (economic)


and the very ship of state (shipwreck.) Paul, however, prayed and fasted until an angel got involved, and the ship was rerouted to an island where Paul took over and made it safely to Rome, adding new territory that wasn’t even in the original plan (see Acts 27:9).

God will overrule bad decisions to bring forth wisdom and get you where you need to be. Look at how Solomon, the wisdom child of David, came forth out of the disastrous decision David made to sleep with Bathsheba.

The storm you create becomes a storm God is in, once you let Him take over the ship.

Storm #3

The storm the devil sends is an attack that is designed

to stop you, overthrow you, and destroy God’s purpose for your life. When Jesus was with the disciples, a great storm arose that threatened their lives. As experienced fishermen, this was a type of storm they had never encountered before. Jesus arose and rebuked the manifestation in the wind and the sea, and there was an immediate calm (see Matthew 8:26). Disease, financial attack, theft, and violence are all works of hell.

Jesus challenged His disciples, “Where is your faith?” (see Luke 8:25). The thought of their ship sinking while Christ was on board provoked Him to challenge what they were focusing on. He told them, “Let’s go to the other side.” His Word was sufficient to give them leverage over the devil. Find the Word God is giving you in your satanic assault and speak to the situation—Jesus talked to the wind and waves. He talked to things, to trees that did not produce and to spirits invisible to the human eye. Thoughts are “things” when they take on the power of fear.

Speak what God says and watch heaven back up your utterance.

God is on board in every storm, and each storm will be made to fulfill God’s Word over your life! “Fire and hail; snow, and clouds; stormy wind, fulfilling His word” (Psalm 148:8). The Holy Spirit knows the way through every storm, and He is on

the inside of you. Hence God will never leave you nor forsake you to the stormy elements.

All three storms are common to man, but you, my friend, are an uncommon vessel. What you come through becomes a testimony to others. You are a storm-riding child of the Most High God.

Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth. And deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. “Lift up your eyes all around, and see: They all gather together, they come to you; your sons shall come from afar, and your daughters shall be nursed at your side. Then you shall see and

become radiant, and your heart shall swell with joy; because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you, the wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you. The multitude of camels shall cover your land, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all those from Sheba shall come; they shall bring gold and incense, and they shall proclaim the praises of the Lord” (Isaiah 60:1-6 NKJV).

This is a time of light and darkness, each waging war against the other. This war will be waged in many fields.

Financial

In the financial sphere, there will be growing unrest and distrust in the financial markets. There will be an economic collapse in Russia that will affect the United States economy. In the U.S., there will be a distrust of financial leaders. Those who are at high levels in key

financial institutions know the danger and are terrified. Some will appear to go insane as a tactic to escape their leadership position before the financial crisis hits.

The light, though, will stand against this darkness. The Lord has placed men like Noah in financial institutions who will seek the Lord to find stable ground in this time of crisis and provide a safe place of shelter. The Spirit will lead churches to demonstrate how to live simple lives of peace in the midst of a financial crisis.

War and Rumors of War

War, disease, and bloodshed are coming from the enemy. These wars will be distractions the enemy is bringing into the world to draw attention away from Israel. The enemy is causing distractions because the key to everything that will be happening in the world is Israel. The war in Israel will escalate, with U.S. involvement, though no ground troops will be deployed. U.S. aid will come through airplanes and ships

that will be deployed before the year is out. We will see Americans volunteering to fight for Israel.

The Christian church is receiving revelation to pray that this battle will be like the Six Day War, ending quickly with the least amount of bloodshed possible.

Spiritual Warfare and Awakening

“Brace yourselves.” Near the beginning of October there is a shaking coming to America and a powerful spirit of deception being released in Eastern Europe. At the same time, we will see a great revival in Africa and Asia. There will be the beginning of a revival in France that will be met with a vehement resistance that threatens religious freedom in that country.

But do not be discouraged. This is a time for the church to dive deep into the Lord. There are hidden gems set aside for this time which are the promises of God for this generation. The church will begin to


see a release of supernatural power and angelic encounters as we search for the depths of the Lord and grow in relationship with Him.

Angels are being sent from a command center in heaven where a sleeping giant is about to wake up that will move in the Spirit. This sleeping giant is the body of Christ. God is grooming this body into the bride of Christ, increasing the church with wisdom for this time as we grow into His likeness.

God’s bride is about to embark on exploits and move in power. These adventures can only be accomplished through community. Watch as the anointing moves from individuals to corporate gatherings. Prophetic gifts and prophets are going to be key workers to help assemble the body of Christ to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. This unified church will go out into chaos, but come back in peace.

The Shift is Here

The church is entering into a time of redefining who we

are and what we do. God is changing the way we see and do things. This is a paradigm shift like we have never seen before. We must examine our traditional terminology to ask if we are using God’s definition or definitions derived from the traditions of men. We must ask ourselves, “If this doesn’t mean what I’ve always thought it means, then how does God define it?” If we miss this time of redefinition, we will have missed a major opportunity. This paradigm shift will cause us to look and act differently.

The grounds at MorningStar will reflect this paradigm shift. In the next five years, MorningStar’s property will physically look different, so much so that if a person were to leave and come back in five years, they would not recognize it as MorningStar.

Expanding Vision

God is birthing a new vision in the church—we have a new and expanding capacity to dream with Jesus for our individual calling and for the body of Christ’s

calling. This is a time to intentionally prepare for authority, responsibility, and purpose. Each person should take inventory of their desires and search for their calling, becoming assured of who the Lord has made them to be. With a strong belief in who God has called each person to be, the church can take steps towards this new expanded vision.

Find Your Place

The church is going into a season of establishing individuals into their proper place. There is an urgency in the Spirit to release each one into destiny. There is a growing call to create an atmosphere for individuals to find their place and operate from the place of their calling.

This is necessary because the church is being called into a greater unity. This unity is required for the new places God is taking us. Our authority will come as we move together; authority will no longer belong only to a singular person but increasingly to a unified

body of people. In this time, we have a call to grow in character and depth, choosing who to associate with and how to set aside distractions. Our corporate anointing will be led by groups of strong individuals who have devoted time to develop their character.

Activating the Body

The church is entering into a highly active time of doing the things that we have only dreamed about. As we strengthen our individual identity and corporate congruence, we will see our ability to have breakthrough into areas of calling. God will be highlighting to us the limitations that have been unjustly placed on us, either by ourselves or other people, and God is showing us how to break free of these limitations into a new freedom and authority. This anointing will be streamlined and powerful as we move in unity.

The church is on the edge of a great release of signs and wonders. As we

enter into the wholeness of our corporate body, we will experience a powerful ability to affect the natural world. We will be able to supernaturally step into distant places and make prophetic declarations that change people, places, and spirits in places we have never been.

The corporate church is becoming the bride of Christ and is going to step into power, signs and wonders, and supernatural influence as we grow in individual character and in unity.

Testimonies from Healing Teams and Jesus Teams

What a privilege to partner with the Holy Spirit and witness God’s hand of power and love for His children.

We had a wonderful time ministering to a woman in a wheelchair who had a degenerative bone and muscle condition in her neck and had endured many surgeries. As we prayed for her, she began to cry and laugh, feeling heat in her neck and shoulders. After we commanded the bones to be regenerated, she reported that all the pain and the swelling were gone. She had been in so much pain earlier that she almost didn’t leave home that morning. She was glad she did!

A man came for prayer about a migraine headache he had for days. It was so painful that he could not even eat. He was totally healed from pain. A few days later, some team members saw him at a conference, and he said his appetite had returned and he still was pain free.

A team prayed for a lady with a knee issue. As they prayed, her knee popped. Then she walked all around the room testing out the healing she received.

A woman who was manifesting anxiety in her heart and chest area came for prayer. She was not only healed of the anxiety, but also of a 25-year planter wart!

A person came for prayer because of sickness in the throat and chest area. After prayer, all symptoms disappeared.

A woman who received prayer came back to the healing teams to report that God had set her free from sleeplessness and anxiety regarding an unresolved issue. The situation had been resolved, and she was full of the joy of the Lord.

Parents came for prayer, standing in for their son who lives in another state. He was experiencing extreme pain. Later, they happily reported that their son’s pain had ceased and he would soon be returning to work.

A lady complained of an annoying pain that she described as a “bubble” inside her throat. After prayer, the pain and pressure lessened. We prayed again and all the symptoms left.

A healing team member was healed of a bump on the side of her knee that she had for a year. She reported that it is totally gone.

A person with a sore and strained arm was healed of pain after prayer.

A man who contracted Hepatitis C from traveling overseas was prayed for. The next time he went to the VA hospital and got his liver enzymes checked, everything was perfect. He no longer required treatment to his liver. He was healed!

A woman came for prayer because of a stiff neck and shoulder from a car accident. Arthritis was setting in. She had this condition for two years and was not able to move her neck around on one side. After prayer, she was able to turn her neck fully both ways.

A man had problems with swelling in his knee and tibia bone that limited his motion. He had been going to a chiropractor. As the team prayed, he felt heat and reported seeing (in the Spirit) something being stitched. He reported that he had increased movement and absolutely no swelling.

Two people received healing from the Lord for their backs. One of them was experiencing pain in the groin area and had been to a couple of doctors with no results. A team member received a word of knowledge that the root of the pain was a problem with a nerve in his back. So she put her hand on that part of his back and prayed, and his pain was gone.

Jesus Teams

As teams ministered at the downtown bus station, six people gave their hearts to Jesus.

A team entered a local barbershop in the ghetto; its doors were wide open. Their intention was to give out chips and candy and also to prophesy and pray. The team ministered to employees and the manager. Then they asked if they could openly announce to everyone in shop that they would pray for anyone in need of healing. After stirring up faith with testimonies of healings, they were invited to pray for more people. It was a wonderful experience for the team to go in with great anticipation and see how the Lord moved so greatly!

was invited to a Christian businessman’s lunch meeting, and while I was eating, a message came that the main speaker would be delayed until the next day. There

were about thirty people waiting for this inspired Christian to download ways to walk in business and walk with God. I was there strictly as a lunch guest.

Then the meeting administrator asked if I would fill in and teach one of the sessions. I answered, “I don’t have any business skills, and I am a poor money manager.”

“You could share your testimony,” he said, while I pondered if this was a good idea or not. I agreed a little apprehensively.

A young ministry school student was beginning to lead the group in praise. I took this time to look over those in the room. Praise will identify a lot of things in people. Are they interested

in praising God? Are they looking for the meeting to start and get this praise interruption out of the way? Are they just flatterers or do they truly love God? They all seemed more like crazy lovers of Jesus than business people, so I settled down with a sigh of relief as I watched my Master being praised.

After some tears and raised hands fixed on heaven, the announcement came that the main speaker would not be coming today but tomorrow. I could feel people’s disappointment, and when I got up to speak, I decided to borrow the guitar the worship leader was using. I wanted to recapture the spirit of praise that was just there and hope to move into testimony without too much of a jolt. I had a hard time playing this borrowed guitar which was already being borrowed by the worship leader.

The session went well and, at the end, a young couple came to me saying, “I believe the Lord is instructing us to buy you a guitar.” I quickly answered, “Oh, this isn’t my guitar. I borrowed it. I have some really great acoustic guitars at home.”

“Yes, I’m sure,” the young man continued. “I still believe the Lord is wanting us to buy you a new


guitar.” Again I insisted I didn’t need a guitar, as I have too many now.

Has God ever tried to give you something you didn’t think you needed? This is what was happening to me. As they continued to insist, I was persistent with reluctance. I couldn’t imagine the kind of guitar they might be talking about. I know that any quality acoustic guitar starts at $1,500 and quickly progresses to $3,000 to $5,000. I didn’t really want just another acoustic guitar.

Then the young man said, “I want to buy you a McPherson guitar.” I had seen a McPherson but had no idea of the quality or price, as I was already satisfied with my own acoustic guitar. I went online and discovered McPhersons are all handmade to order, and you can get whatever you want in an acoustic guitar.

However, they are expensive and that really set me off on my second round of resistance. I wrote an email to them and said,

“These guitars are very expensive. Are you sure you want to buy one for me?” Once again they insisted and recommended I order what I wanted soon, as it takes six months to receive one.

For years I had been on a vigil to find one guitar that could do everything I wanted. I decided that my original handmade acoustic guitars were too delicate and old to take on the road. That is a nice way of saying this guitar has been played a lot, and it’s time to let it rest from its labors. However, I wanted an acoustic sound that was perfect and an electric sound that was great as well. No small task to accomplish in one guitar.

I wanted all that in one guitar, but there are problems with that idea. I would be constantly compromising something. And compromise is exactly what I have been living with for at least fifteen years, as I play fine guitars but just not fitted to me. I have been fitting them and “shape-shifting” to compensate for the little issues each one has.

To sum up this parable of life, I have been trying to fit into a life that was not made for me. I have had some success along the way, to be sure, but that was from reshaping myself to fit the situation. Of course, this seems to be in violation with the Apostle Paul’s statement. “I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some” (see I Corinthians 9:22). Paul is not talking about compromise, but relating to people on all levels as to not cause a feeling of condescension when he presented the gospel. In verse 24 of I Corinthians 9 Paul goes on to say, “So run [your race] so that you may lay hold [of the prize]” (Amplified). This means there are a lot of ways to run a race to win, but compromise is not one of them.

There are many names for God Almighty: Elohim, Adonai, Jehovah, Yahweh, Maccaddeshem, Rapha, and many more. Why? Because the God of healing is not the God you call on when you need sanctification. The God of divine salvation (Yahweh)

is different from the God of recompense (Gmolah). This means God Almighty meets our needs with a perfect fit, if we are wise enough to call on that God. I believe the same applies to what life God has designed for those who trust in Jesus. It should fit you perfectly without you striving to fit it.

I placed the McPherson guitar order with details I wanted to have in a guitar such as neck size, body style, body depth, certain woods for the top, and specific woods on the back and sides etc. All these things were different from the first “custom made” guitar I bought over forty years ago, and though it is still a wonderful guitar, I had changed in that time. Now my older guitars didn’t really fit me anymore, but I was trying to fit them.

When the new guitar arrived and I began to play, it was so much more than I expected. The workmanship was impeccable. The shape fit my body. The sound was smooth, almost creamy. I was more and more surprised, as I

thought I had already owned the best of the best.

The neck fit my hands perfectly. I could close my eyes and play without consciously watching the neck to be sure my fingers landed in the right place during chord changes. I also noticed that I wasn’t clenching my jaw when I played. After playing it for a week, my teeth didn’t hurt anymore, and my jaw was not set in pain as I played.

Previously, I had been to the dentist with broken and chipped teeth from setting my jaw tight when I played. I had to have three teeth capped and a wisdom tooth pulled because of this.

Teeth spiritually represent relationships and with a twice-infected wisdom tooth, my wisdom was now infecting my relationships. I was no longer running in a way as to win the race, but to compete instead.

By trying to fit into what we were not meant to be, we begin to compromise or find ways to hide our incompetence in that area. Others sense something is

wrong but may not be able to articulate it, so the situation ends in rejection.

For example, it can be like having a bad musician in the band. He gets rejected by the others, when all along he was just playing the wrong instrument. He hoped to fit in by fulfilling a need in the band, but because it was a bad fit, he ended up rejected instead.

This is not God’s best for those He loves. Though it took me several years to recognize that I was compromising with the idea of fitting into every situation presented, I finally got a hold on what fits me and what God can do with someone who is not striving to fit in.

If you are a worship leader or musician trying to fit into a situation not made for you, then you may have already damaged some relationships. Ask the Lord to reveal how you may have been doing this and watch how He will show you what fits you in ministry, church, and life itself.


INSIDE ADVANCING ART

Beauty, a much contended subject in the consideration of current visual arts, is most pleasantly a surprise when encountered without anticipation.

It follows that often we get what we expect. If we think abstraction is just an excuse to be messy in a painterly sense, then each time we encounter even the term abstraction, we align with our predetermined messy vision (thoughts).

My works are more often abstract, without the messy assumption. That is not because

I reject the potential of a messy aesthetic, as much as I understand enough to know it will not, by itself, convey my intentions.

I have the same concerns that artists have had for hundreds of years: vision, subject

matter, scale, materials, light, and color aligned in a unity of purpose. Additionally, there is the interaction of the Spirit as the Helper in all we do, which includes art. With that help, we are able to advance visual language (painting), less the messy examples of the past.

Special Forces MissionsSpecial Forces (SP) Missions is a program offered within MorningStar University.

It is an intense training program based on a biblical worldview designed to prepare individuals physically, mentally, and emotionally with purpose and exposure to real world situations.

I’m a firm believer that praise can shift any atmosphere.

Remember when Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God? It says in Acts 16:26:

Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody’s chains came loose (NIV).

It’s amazing that their praise shifted the atmosphere and set Paul and Silas, along with other prisoners, free.

My question to you is where do you need freedom in your life? Try praising the Lord and watch what happens next. I believe you will shift the atmosphere around you and ultimately end up with a victory!

I’d like to encourage you to praise your way into your next season. If you are transitioning or stepping into something new, begin to praise Him. You will be amazed at what He will do for you.

To take this one step further, let’s praise Him together here at MorningStar next month! I’d like to personally invite you to our annual Harvest Fest gathering.
