REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics or Mathematics ; and A minimum of 3 years of work experience in statistical work in a regulatory organization such as a financial services regulator or Central Bank, or in the financial services industry, public sector or with an international financial organization. Knowledge of monetary and financial statistics and a working knowledge of the principles and recommendations for the compilation of National Economic Accounts. Ability to analyse and interpret data, arrive at sound conclusions and to present insights and recommendations. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office’s standard applications (in particular, Excel and PowerPoint). DIVISIONAL PROFILE

The Policy & Development Division (the Division) focuses on research in the area of financialsector regulation and supervision. The Division has a cross-functional role and providessupport mainly to CIMA’s four supervisory divisions: Banking, Insurance, Investments & Securities and Fiduciary, by providing 1) information, 2) advice on policy issues, and 3)recommendations on required changes to policy and legislation for the financial sector.

POSITION ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Statistician, the Senior Statistician is responsible for conducting and orsupervising statistical officers in, the collection, collation, evaluation, interpretation andpresentation of quantitative data on the financial industry and financial entities regulated byCIMA.

KEY RESULT AREAS

The following are the Key Result Areas and Primary Functions of the position. Other dutiesand tasks may be assigned. Performance evaluations are based on the position requirementscontained in this position description, policies and procedures of the organization and thedivision and specific goals and objectives set for each employee.

1. Development, compilation and dissemination of Statistics

a) Collects, processes, analyses and disseminates relevant statistical data internally andexternally;

b) Coordinates the routine updating and publication of Regulatory Division statisticalinformation on CIMA’s websi te;

c) Develops comprehensive, effective and well documented statistical systems to collect,process, analyze and disseminate relevant data based on identified needs;

d) Develops licensee guidance notes for new statistical reporting methods/systems andupdates existing guidance notes as methods are revised;

f) Develops and updates internal data processing manuals; and

g) Provides statistical advice to regulatory divisions to ensuring a smooth and accuratedata processing operation within the Statistical Unit.

2. People Supervision

a) Provides ongoing coaching, technical advice, and guidance to assist the Statistician(s)in performing their duties optimally;

b) Reviews and supervises the work prepared by Statistician(s) to ensure compliancewith all policies, procedures and guidelines; and

c) Provides the Statistician(s) with constructive and ongoing feedback, identifies andaddresses/escalates any first stage performance issues, and offers inputs for theprobationary assessment, annual performance appraisal and individual learning anddevelopment plans.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job are as follows:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Statistics or Mathematics; and

Three (3) years of work experience in a regulatory organization such as a financialservices regulator or Central Bank, or in the financial services industry, public sectoror with an international financial organization .
