Parents’ Handbook 2020/2021St Edward’s Senior & Sixth Form

Boys’ Uniform for Years 7 - 11• School blazer with badge• School tie • Charcoal grey trousers• White shirt (optional short sleeves for summer)• Pullover - navy V neck with parallel gold stripe• Grey socks• Shoes - black leather • School scarf (optional)• Overcoat - plain dark blue/grey or black• Apron for Art (or Boiler Suits for GCSE/A Level) (These are purchased by the Art Department and charged to the school bill)

Additional notes: Jewellery should not be worn other than a small crucifix/St Christopher on a chain worn inside the shirt.

Hair should be neatly combed, short at sides and the back and off the collar. It should not appear closely shaved. Hair should be its natural colour.

Please ensure all garments are clearly marked with name-tapes. Name-tapes should be sewn on the inside of garments.

Girls’ Uniform for Years 7 - 11• School blazer with badge • Trutex Oakley Tartan Kilt• Blouse – yellow revere collar• Pullover - navy V neck with parallel gold stripe • Tights or knee length socks – plain navy blue/ black opaque or flesh coloured• School scarf - optional • Overcoat - plain dark blue/grey or black • Hair-bands/ribbons - blue or black• Shoes - black (formal - solid heel max 5cm)• Apron for Art (or Boiler Suits for GCSE/A Level) (These are purchased by the Art Department and charged to the School bill)

Additional notes: Year 7 through to Year 11 inclusive, make-up is not allowed. Jewellery should not be worn, except for a stud or small sleeper in each ear lobe; ‘cuff studs’ and any other piercings are not allowed. A discreet crucifix/St Christopher may be worn inside the blouse.

Girls’ shoes must have a solid (i.e. not pointed) heel no higher than 5cm at the back. Skirts must be knee length.

Hair should be neat and appear brushed. Hair should be tied back neatly off the face in a ponytail, bun or plait. Hair should be its natural colour.

Summer Wear

• Blouse – yellow short sleeved revere collar • Short socks or lightweight tights - navy blue or flesh coloured

Boys’ Uniform for Sixth Form• Suit Single or double- breasted. Black, navy or grey (Subtle pinstripe allowed)

• Shirts - White

• Jumper - Black or dark navy (V-necked)

• Tie - Sixth Form

• Overcoat - Dark navy blue or black (smart) – for outdoor use only. (Subtle logos allowed)

• Socks - Black or dark grey

• Shoes - Black leather (not suede)

Additional notes: Boys may not wear make-up or earrings, but they may wear a ring. Scarves should be either plain black or navy or the school scarf. Students should not wear scarves inside School.

Sensible hairstyles of moderate length, off the collar and natural in colour.

There are various items of School Sports clothing including sweatshirts and team tops. These are not to be worn around the School or to lessons. They are specifically for use during Games, PE and Sporting activities.

All items of uniform must be purchased from the School Stockist unless otherwise stated. Games kit is purchased online from Academy Sports and Leisure (contact details on page 18).

• Sixth Form Girls’ Trousers - Navy

• Sixth Form Jacket - Waist length navy blue wool jacket with subtle pink/purple square check and moleskin collar (only available from School)

• Striped Blouse - Blue/white

• Jumper - Dark navy (V-necked) to match skirt

• Overcoat - Dark navy blue or black (smart) – for outdoor use only. (Subtle logos allowed)

• Shoes - Black leather (no kitten heels). Heels no higher than 5cm

• Tights - Plain (opaque) navy/black or flesh coloured

Additional notes: Girls may wear subtle make-up and discreet earrings (maximum one per ear and placed in the lower lobe). Girls may not wear nail varnish. Scarves should be either plain black or navy or the school scarf. Students should not wear scarves inside School.
