Dear Parents and Seniors: CONGRATULATIONS! The beginning of the senior year marks the pinnacle of your high school experience. High school graduation is a milestone in everyone’s lifetime. On behalf of the Edison High School staff, we commend you for the hard work, patience and perseverance in pursuing the goal of high school graduation. This year is very important and exciting for parents and students as we move toward the Class of 2018 Commencement Ceremony on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the Save Mart Center. The senior year is filled with several events, and the following information is designed to assist and inform students and their parents in regards to upcoming senior events, estimated costs, and policies and expectations of Edison High School’s Graduation. We provide a variety of organized and enjoyable activities for the senior class during their senior year and encourage all seniors to participate. The senior year is busy, but we want to remind you of the importance of maintaining good attendance and grades. Most colleges will conditionally accept students, and submission of the final senior transcript will determine final admission. In most cases, students will be required to maintain a certain GPA in order to keep their acceptance status. Seniors need to stay focused on their coursework. Although the senior year is an exciting year for our students, please remember that it is also a year of change. Many senior students begin experiencing a variety of emotions that range from excitement and pride to anxiety and uncertainty. It is extremely important that seniors and their parents keep an open line of communication with their family, friends, and teachers. As times in our society may seem fractured or splintered, I look forward to launching the Class of 2018 into society, as I know that this is a group of individuals who won’t tolerate polarization and who embrace the beauty and strength of diversity. Socrates stated, “the secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” I have watched the Class of 2018 continue to develop a community that is focused on positive social change. Each class has their own energy and personality. This class has been quite, methodical, and focused. I expect that as they work to come together collectively this year, we will see them lead social change that is about building up a community rather than tearing it down. I have already seen glimmers of what the class officers’ priorities are for their class by the thoughtful act of giving each senior a small item at the opening of school, and they have already mapped out the class announcements and some additional senior activities for the year. This is a class that will not be “fighting the old”; they will be forging positive change one person, one act of kindness, and one day at time. I look forward to congratulating our students on the completion of their first important step “on building the new” Tuesday, June 5, 2018. With Gratitude, Lindsay Sanders, Principal

June 1st, 2018

On the morning of June 1st seniors will report to the tables located outside of the Science Building to pick up their final check out form. Edison will be on a regular schedule that day and will check out their classes as they attend them during the day, staying in their classes the full time.

Once students have checked out and all bills are paid, students will take their completed form to their counselor for final clearance. Counselors will then hand them a ticket to pick up cap and gown in Cafeteria. Students who attend CART will staple their CART check out form to their EHS check out form. PM CART students can pick up their check out form from the Counseling Office once they arrive to Edison for their courses.

This nondenominational senior honor service will be held on

May 21, 2018 at Edison

Baccalaureate is a more personalized service to celebrate the accomplishments of both the graduates and families of the graduates. Attendance is not mandatory, however all graduates are invited and encouraged to attend.
