HAROLD THOMAS CRAWFORD 1914-2012 PARIS: Harold Thomas Craw- ford, 97, died September 29, 2012, at Paris Healthcare Cen- ter. A graveside service for Mr. Crawford was held Sunday, Sep- tember 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Bro. Fred Morris officiating. He was born October 27, 1914 in Puryear to William Franklin Crawford and Maude Willeford Crawford. Mr. Crawford served in the Navy during World War II from 1943-1945. He was a gradu- ate of Toler’s Business College in Paris and LaSalle Exten- sion University of Chicago and received a certificate in tax accounting from the Walton School of Commerce of Chica- go. Throughout his schooling he specialized in higher account- ing. He practiced accounting for 56 years beginning in 1950 as the owner of H.T. Crawford and Co., which had offices in McKenzie, Paris, and Camden. Both he and his wife Cathryn also served as McKenzie city clerks. He served from 1954 to 1958 and she served from 1976 to 1982. Mr. Crawford was an avid country and bluegrass song- writer. Although he played a number of stringed instru- ments, the dulcimer and har- monica were his favorites. He was a member of the First Bap- tist Church. Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by his wife, Cathryn Crawford; two broth- ers, and two sisters. He is survived by: a brother, William Crawford of Decatur, Il- linois; two sons, Larry (Sandra) Crawford of Paris, and Jerome (Diana) Crawford of McKenzie; grandson David Crawford of Paris; two granddaughters, Kim (Sammy) Cox of Paris, and Jes- sica Crawford of Nashville, two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Wesley Cox of Paris of Paris; and 11 nieces and nephews. The cool nights and mornings are a welcome change to the hot humid days and nights of the summer months. We begin the month of October with the Senior Choir singing at Lifecare Center in Bruceton on the 1st at 2:00 p.m. The Se- nior Choir sings each Monday at 2:00 p.m. at one of the retire- ment homes in Carroll County. On October 8th they will sing at Lakeside Retirement Com- munity in McKenzie, on the 15th they perform at Harmony Hill in Huntingdon, you can hear them at McKenzie Healthcare on the 22nd, and enjoy them at Magnolia Manor in McKenzie on the 29th. As you can see the Senior Choir members stay busy bring- ing joy to all that hear them. A trip to the Reelfoot Lake Craft Fair is scheduled for Octo- ber the 5th. The van will leave Hunting- don at 8:00 a.m. and will return around 5:00 p.m. The cost is $7.00 to ride the van plus the cost of your food. We have a few seats left, so call soon if you would like to go. The October add-a-dish lun- cheon will be held on the 11th at 11:30 a.m. Bring a favorite dish and join us for a delicious meal and good fellowship. If you haven’t attend- ed one of these luncheons, we would love for you to join us. Medicare open enrollment will be October 15th through Decem- ber 7th this year. Representatives with the State Health Insurance Assistance Program will be at the Carroll County Office on Aging on November 1st and 2nd from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. to help those wanting to change plans or looking for a plan for the first time. If you would like to talk with a representative you must make an appointment by calling 1-877-801-0044. Band night will be October the 18th at the Carroll County Civic Center. We ask that those attending please bring a favorite finger food for the meal which will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Trailblazers will perform beginning at 7:00 p.m. There is no charge to attend, however we will pass the hat to help the band members pay for their gasoline. We really do appreciate the Trailblazers for entertaining us. The meals on wheels luncheon will be held October 24th. This meal is catered in from Valley Foods in Milan. The Northwest Tennessee Human Resource Agency sponsors this luncheon. We ask that each person make a $1.00 donation for their lunch. The meal will be served at 11:30 a.m. If you plan to attend we must know by no later than October the 18th. A white bean plate fundraiser will be held on October the 26th from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The plate will include white beans, slaw, cornbread, drink and des- sert. The cost is $5.00 per plate. If you plan to attend please give us a call by no later than October 24th. Halloween is always a fun time for kids of all ages. We will host a Halloween party for senior citi- zens on October 31st at 1:00 p.m. A costume contest will be held with trophies given to the win- ners. Last year we had some re- ally original costumes that took a great deal of imagination to come up with. We expect even better costumes this year. We will also have a pumpkin decorating contest. You bring your pumpkin already decorated and those at- tending the party will judge them. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. We will also play Ghost Bingo and serve refreshments. Please call by October 29th if you plan to attend. Please don’t forget the other activities we offer that include Rook, Silver Threads Quilt Guild, knitting classes, bowling, High Five, billiards, Seniorcize class, and our weekly blood pressure checks. Beginning in November we will be offering oil painting on canvas classes. The classes will be held each Monday from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Mrs. Sylvia Whitaker will be teaching these classes. There will be no charge to take the class, but you will be responsible for purchasing your supplies. Class size will be limited, so call soon to get your name on the list. Miss Belew was bor n on March 14, 1960 in Jackson. She was a member of the Clarks-burg Church of Christ. She was

preceded in death by her father, Charles William Belew.

She is survived by: her moth-er, Linda Faye Belew; two sis-ters, Robin (Spud) Luther and Janice Lewis, all of Clarksburg; three nephews, a niece, and a great niece. She also leaves four aunts and uncles and a host of cousins.

neral services for Ira McIver, 54, of Cordova, for merly of McKenzie, were held at Carroll Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 with Bro. Jim Roberts officiating.

Mr. McIver died Saturday, September 29, 2012 at his resi-dence in Cordova. Ira was the son of the late Ira Justin and Ruby Elizabeth Pinkley McIver of the Greenfield Highway com-munity near McKenzie.

He is survived by: a sister, Vera (Randy) Beckham, of Mis-souri.

JOE H. HEATHCOT1928-2012

MCKENZIE: Joe H. Heathcot, 83, of McKenzie, died Sunday, September 16, 2012 at McKen-zie Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home of Gleason with Gene Price offici-ating. Burial followed at Butler Cemetery in Gleason.

Mr. Heathcot was bor n in Gleason on September 17, 1928 to the late Arthur and Lydia (Yoman) Heathcot. He formerly worked as an Engineer for the U.S. military.

He is survived by: friend Ma-rie Allen, of McKenzie.

PARIS: Shirley Anne Pres-son, 74, of Paris, died Friday, September 28, 2012 at her resi-dence. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 1, 2012

at 11:00 in the LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Dr. Lynn Ford Paschall officiat-ing. Burial followed at Boothe Cemetery in Paris.

Mrs. Presson was born on De-cember 21, 1937 in Buchanan to the late Fred and Gertie Snow Roberts. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by: two sons, Michael Presson and Da-vid Ray Presson; three sisters, Lela Gallimore, Joyce Jackson and Francis Dinkins; and three grandchildren.

She is survived by: husband Orby Phillip “Phil” Presson, of Paris; three daughters, Deb-bie (Dale) Casterline, Lorrie Kall and friend Mike Swanner, and Sheila Ross, all of Paris; two sons, Randal (Heather) Presson, and Danny (Laura) Presson, both of Paris; four sisters, Lucinda Dinkins of Kodak, Doris (Jerry) Pounds of Puryear, Fredda (Bill) Sh-uart of Sevierville, and Donna (Kenneth) Overcast of Dresden; four brothers, Brooks (Helen) Roberts, and Onain (Willena) Roberts, both of Gleason, Paul Roberts of Texas, and Danny (Diane) Roberts of Dresden; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

HAROLD THOMAS CRAWFORD1914-2012

PARIS: Harold Thomas Craw-ford, 97, died September 29, 2012, at Paris Healthcare Cen-

ter. A graveside service for Mr. Crawford was held Sunday, Sep-tember 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Bro. Fred Morris officiating.

He was born October 27, 1914 in Puryear to William Franklin Crawford and Maude Willeford Crawford. Mr. Crawford served in the Navy during World War II from 1943-1945. He was a gradu-ate of Toler’s Business College in Paris and LaSalle Exten-sion University of Chicago and received a certificate in tax accounting from the Walton School of Commerce of Chica-go. Throughout his schooling he specialized in higher account-ing. He practiced accounting for 56 years beginning in 1950 as the owner of H.T. Crawford and Co., which had offices in McKenzie, Paris, and Camden. Both he and his wife Cathryn also served as McKenzie city clerks. He served from 1954 to 1958 and she served from 1976 to 1982.

Mr. Crawford was an avid country and bluegrass song-writer. Although he played a number of stringed instru-ments, the dulcimer and har-monica were his favorites. He was a member of the First Bap-tist Church. Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by his wife, Cathryn Crawford; two broth-ers, and two sisters.

He is survived by: a brother, William Crawford of Decatur, Il-linois; two sons, Larry (Sandra) Crawford of Paris, and Jerome (Diana) Crawford of McKenzie; grandson David Crawford of Paris; two granddaughters, Kim (Sammy) Cox of Paris, and Jes-sica Crawford of Nashville, two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Wesley Cox of Paris of Paris; and 11 nieces and nephews.

Ruben Rudolf Vasquez went to play his guitar for the Lord on September 19th 2012. He died peacefully at his home in Mc Kenzie Tennessee. Ruben was born on Novemeber 4th 1956 in Ionia, Michigan. Ruben was an avid guitar player and honorary member of the local Long Shot Band. He en-joyed spending time with his grandchildren, camping, and tuning his guitars. Rubens love for the Lord was evident in everything he did. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Survived by his girlfriend of 14 years, Sherri Lynn Fulcher, Sons Ruben Vasquez, Talon Vasquez, Josiah Vasquez (Jason Vasquez), Daughter Brandy (Vasquez) Stath, Ashli Springer, Aimee Rogers. Senior Citizen NewsIt’s beginning to look and feel

a lot like fall. The cool nights and mornings are a welcome change to the hot humid days and nights of the summer months.

We begin the month of October with the Senior Choir singing at Lifecare Center in Bruceton on the 1st at 2:00 p.m. The Se-nior Choir sings each Monday at 2:00 p.m. at one of the retire-ment homes in Carroll County. On October 8th they will sing at Lakeside Retirement Com-munity in McKenzie, on the 15th they perform at Harmony Hill in Huntingdon, you can hear them at McKenzie Healthcare on the 22nd, and enjoy them at Magnolia Manor in McKenzie on the 29th.

As you can see the Senior Choir members stay busy bring-ing joy to all that hear them.

A trip to the Reelfoot Lake Craft Fair is scheduled for Octo-ber the 5th.

The van will leave Hunting-don at 8:00 a.m. and will return around 5:00 p.m. The cost is $7.00 to ride the van plus the cost of your food.

We have a few seats left, so call soon if you would like to go.

The October add-a-dish lun-cheon will be held on the 11th at 11:30 a.m.

Bring a favorite dish and join us for a delicious meal and good

fellowship. If you haven’t attend-ed one of these luncheons, we would love for you to join us.

Medicare open enrollment will be October 15th through Decem-ber 7th this year. Representatives with the State Health Insurance Assistance Program will be at the Carroll County Office on Aging on November 1st and 2nd from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. to help those wanting to change plans or looking for a plan for the first time. If you would like to talk with a representative you must make an appointment by calling 1-877-801-0044.

Band night will be October the 18th at the Carroll County Civic Center.

We ask that those attending please bring a favorite finger food for the meal which will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Trailblazers will perform beginning at 7:00 p.m. There is no charge to attend, however we will pass the hat to help the band members pay for their gasoline. We really do appreciate the Trailblazers for entertaining us.

The meals on wheels luncheon will be held October 24th. This meal is catered in from Valley Foods in Milan. The Northwest Tennessee Human Resource Agency sponsors this luncheon. We ask that each person make a $1.00 donation for their lunch. The meal will be served at 11:30 a.m. If you plan to attend we must know by no later than October the 18th.

A white bean plate fundraiser will be held on October the 26th from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The plate will include white beans, slaw, cornbread, drink and des-

sert. The cost is $5.00 per plate. If you plan to attend please give us a call by no later than October 24th.

Halloween is always a fun time for kids of all ages. We will host a Halloween party for senior citi-zens on October 31st at 1:00 p.m. A costume contest will be held with trophies given to the win-ners. Last year we had some re-ally original costumes that took a great deal of imagination to come up with. We expect even better costumes this year. We will also have a pumpkin decorating contest. You bring your pumpkin already decorated and those at-tending the party will judge them. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. We will also play Ghost Bingo and serve refreshments. Please call by October 29th if you plan to attend.

Please don’t forget the other activities we offer that include Rook, Silver Threads Quilt Guild, knitting classes, bowling, High Five, billiards, Seniorcize class, and our weekly blood pressure checks.

Beginning in November we will be offering oil painting on canvas classes. The classes will be held each Monday from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Mrs. Sylvia Whitaker will be teaching these classes. There will be no charge to take the class, but you will be responsible for purchasing your supplies. Class size will be limited, so call soon to get your name on the list.
