Protein Foods & Nutrition Development Association of India (PFNDAI) under the leadership of Dr Sesikeran B., Chairman of PFNDAI Scientific Advisory Committee has decided to organise a seminar on Exploring Wholesome Ingredients for Holistic Health on Friday October 18, 2019 at Hotel Kohinoor Continental in Mumbai. Dr. B. Sesikeran & CFTRI Director Dr. Raghavarao have already confirmed to address the audience. Indians are becoming quite aware of needs of not only safe and high quality foods but also the essential nutrients that are needed for healthy and active life. They realise that they need more proteins as well as avoid excess of fats, salt and sugar. They have been told that trans fats are unhealthy and should also be avoided. In their hectic lifestyle it is difficult for people to get all their requirements through meals prepared and consumed at home. They need to eat outside foods and they also need to rely on many foods and ingredients prepared and processed. FSSAI has introduced new regulation which became effective in 2018 through which Food or Health Supplements, Nutraceuticals, Foods for Special Dietary Uses, Foods for Special Medical Purpose, Functional Foods, and Novel Foods became available for manufacture and sale. This will not only offer new opportunities for food business operators but also health professionals and consumers trying to ensure that they get all the nutrients and health ingredients through different foods and products and supplements to not only maintain their body without nutrient deficiencies but also reduce the risks of many diseases which they may face because of their diet, lifestyle and environment. We will be discussing some of the state of the art science available for such ingredients and foods and discuss their availability and application in our foods and diets in our modern living. We have invited eminent scientists and industry leaders to discuss the subjects which will certainly benefit not just the R&D and marketing professionals in food and ingredients industry but also the nutritionists, dieticians and other health professionals who all are involved in the recent developments in science and technology of wholesome food and ingredients that ensure our holistic health.
