CBS Supplementary and Assessment Extension Examinations

    (formerly Deferred Assessment Examinations)

What is a Supplementary Assessment or Assessment Extension?

An Assessment Extension (formerly a Deferred Assessment)is where permission has

been granted for a student to delay the completion or submission of an assessment task

after the original or due date/time.

An assessment extension must be requested by the student, on or before the

date/time of the assessment task (or on or before the officially scheduled date/time of

a test or examination), using the form prescribed by the Academic Registrar.

If this date cannot be met, an application may be accepted up to 5 working days from the

date/time of the assessment or officially scheduled time of the final examination, provided

there is an acceptable explanation as to why the application was not able to be submitted on

time. Supporting documentation should be provided to substantiate these claims.

Original or certified copies of relevant supporting documentation must be provided by

the student with all assessment extension applications. If your doctor has stated you

are unfit for the day you should defer all exams scheduled on that day.

A Supplementary Assessmentis the formal approval by the Board of Examiners for a

student to undertake an additional assessment task in order to provide an opportunity for the

student to demonstrate the prescribed learning outcomes for the unit. Students cannot

request or apply for a Supplementary Assessment as they are awarded by the Board of

Examiners. Students granted a supplementary assessment will receive an interim grade of

X for the unit. Further information can be found at

When are the Supplementary and Assessment Extension

    Examinations for Final Examinations?

in Semester 1, 2013 will be held from Monday 22nd July to Friday 26th July 2013.

Exam sessions will be scheduled in the morning, afternoon and evening throughoutthis week.

If you do not sit your Supplementary and/or Assessment Extension examinations you

will receive a FAIL Grade. No further consideration will be given to approving any

further opportunity or extension of time for you to sit your examinations on the basis

that you were not available or did not arrive in Perth prior to the commencement of

the scheduled examination period as advised. You are not able to request further

deferral of Assessment Extension Examinations or your supplementary exams.

When will I be advised if I have been granted a Supplementary or
