    21. Once the Hybrid has been installed open the following folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In

    Motion\Shared\Loader Files\[Device OS Folder]

    22. You should see a folder that looks like this:

Now its time to customize our OS.

    Alternative Guide

    9/23

    23. Open the Java Folder

    24. Depending on the version of the hybrid, there are two ways to do this. Most of the BB Tweaks hybrids willbe pre-shrunk, meaning we have done some of the work for you. We have pulled the files out that you cannot

during loading without shrinking the OS yourself. With this version you will see files inside the java folder Like

    this:

    25. The other type would be a full OS package with no extra folders. This would be just like you are installing a

    normal OS.

Well discuss the pre-shrunk hybrid file first. Like I said before in step 21, we have pulled files out for you and

you will need to move the files of the apps that you want from their folders and put them in the main Java

    folder.

You need to copy the files inside of each folder and paste them into the main Java folder for them to be

installed. For help on this see the following tutorial: How to Customize Your Hybrid OS. Once completed, youmay skip to step 30 to continue.

NOTICE: Ring tones have been removed from the main files to save space. Most of our hybrid users have

downloaded the ring tone files from the forums and put them on their memory card. If you want to add ringtones back in you will need to follow the directions in the How to Customize Your Hybrid OS section.

If you have downloaded a full OS package you can still customize the OS and remove stuff that you do notwant be using Shrink-a-OS.

NOTICE: BBHybrid Tool, Shrink-a-OS will remove most things that you may not want (and some things that

  • 8/3/2019 Self Installing Hybrids

    10/23

you might), but may not get all of the files that you may not need if you are not planning to use certain apps, soI suggest you use the pre-shrunk OS if possible.

    26. Locate the Shrink-a-OS file in the main OS file. It was installed as a convenience with the hybrid (this doesnot pertain to 8330 hybrids, if you are installing a 8330 hybrid it has been preshrunk and you may skip to step

    30).

    Open the Shrink-A-OS.exe file.

Make sure you check the box at the top that says: Shrink-a-OS is in my current OS folder

    27. Now you may select the apps that you do not wish to install.

    28. Select Shrink my OS at the bottom

    29. Close Shrink-A-OS.

Now we are ready to install our new hybrid OS

    30. Open BBSAK (should be on your desktop if you installed at the beginning) Learn more about BBSAKhttp://www.bbtweaks.com/SMF/index.php?topic=6.0

    31. Select Backup Apps from the Backup/Restore tab

    32. Select OK
