Personality: - When we talk of personality, we don’t mean that a person has charm, a positive attitude towards life and a smiling face. When psychologists talk of personality , they mean a dynamic concept describing the growth and development of a person’s whole psychological system.

Personality refers to “ the sum total ways in which an individual reacts to and interacts with

others”.It is often described in terms of measurable traits that a person exhibits.

Personality Traits :- Popular characteristics include shy, aggressive, submissive, lazy,

ambitious , loyal and timid. Those characteristics , when they’re exhibited in a large number

of situations, are called personality traits.

Some approaches for testing the traits are as follows:-

Big Five(5) Model :-

Extroversion: - Extraversion reflects how much you are oriented towards things outside

yourself and derive satisfaction from interacting with other people. High scorers are said to

be "extroverts" while low scorers are said to be "introverts. Introverts will tend to become

tired out by socialization, while Extroverts will be energized by it. Introverts value down time

while extroverts value stimulation. Due to their disposition, extroverts will usually be good at

social interaction due to lots of experience, introverts tend towards the socially awkward.

In my case, I am moderate in activity and enthusiasm. I enjoy the company of others but I

also value privacy . as I have taken a test for this activity ,I got 3.2 on the scale of 5.so I can

say that I am an average person for extroversion and depends on situation.

Whenever I meet someone first time I am little introvert sometime but when the time goes on

…,I really enjoy the company of that person and ready to share my thoughts with that

person..

Agreeableness : - Agreeableness is a personality trait manifesting itself in individual

behavioral characteristics that are perceived as kind, sympathetic, cooperative, warm and

considerate. In contemporary personality psychology, agreeableness is one of the five major

dimensions of personality structure, reflecting individual differences in cooperation and

social harmony.

In my case, I am generally warm ,trusting , good natured and eager to cooperate and avoid

conflict but sometimes competitive. As I have taken a test and in that I got 3.7 points on the

scale of 5.So in this activity, I am good at agreeableness. I am ready to cooperate anyone

whether I know him or not.

Conscietiousness :- Conscientiousness is the trait that denotes being thorough, careful, or

vigilant; it implies a desire to do a task well. It reflects how careful you are, both in respect to

organization and rules.

In my case, I am dependable and moderadtely well organized. I generally have clear goals

but are able to set my work aside. In the test ,I got 3.1 on the scale of 5. It means that I am

very careful about the rules but find difficulties in applying to it.

If any work is given to me ,I ready to do this work in full desire but I find difficulties to

follow the rules for completing this work .

Emotional Stability : - This dimension taps a person’s ability to withstand stress. People

with positive emotional stability tends to be claim, self confident and secure. Those with

high negative scores tend to be nervous anxious, depressed and insecure.

In my case , I am very emotional person . if anyone is in sad mood or dilemma happen to

him. I am also involve with that person in his sadness. But it depends, If the person is very

near to me then I really think about that person in both cases i.e. happiness and sadness.

I am generally calm and able to deal with stress, but I sometimes experience feelings of guilt,

anger or sadness.

Openess to experience : - This personality dimension that characterizes someone in

terms of imagination ,sensitivity and curiosity.

In my case , I am not having a high level of imagination but having a great curiosity of doing

new things and ready to grasp new technology and new ways to learn

But in terms of creativity, I am not able to think out of the box ,in this I am lacking this trait,

but I am working hard on imagination and creativity . I want to improve a lot in this trait.

Major Trait’s influencing Personality

Locus Of Control :- A locus of control orientation is a belief about whether the outcomes

of our actions are contingent on what we do (internal control orientation) or on events outside

our personal control (external control orientation) .

As far as my locus of control is concerned ,I have both internal and external control but I

strongly believe that if anyone having strong external locus of control i.e hardworking person

,ready to take up challenges & full determination , then internal control help him to achieve in

life internal means luck and all religious things that help a person to achieve in his life .

As I have clear my mat exam with 96 percentile, the reason behind this – firstly the hardwork

in preparing for exam i.e. external locus and behind this some internal ia also works so I

achieve this.

Self – Monitoring :- Self-monitoring is a theory that deals with the phenomena of

expressive controls. Human beings generally differ in substantial ways in their abilities and

desires to engage in expressive controls.

In my case , I am staying true to myself and are unwilling to modify my behavior just to get

the approval of others. I probably do not like to be the center of attention very often. I can

only argue for ideas for which I already believe.

I would not change my opinions (or the way I do things) in order to please someone else or

win their favor. I rarely seek the advice of my friends to choose movies, books, or music.

Even if I am not enjoying myself, I often pretend to be having a good time. In different

situations and with different people, I often act like very different persons.

Machiavellianism :- Machiavellianism is also a term that some social and personality

psychologists use to describe a person's tendency to be unemotional, and therefore able to

detach himself from conventional morality and hence to deceive and manipulate others.

It is a degree to which an individual is pragmatic, maintains emotional distance, and believes

that end can justify means.

In my case, this trait is very less as I am emotional person I can not detach myself from

conventional morality ,to pursue or achieve my goal but in my professional life , I want to

side my emotionalism because in professional life , no emotions are there we have to be

practical so I am unemotional & tends to deceive and manipulate others to a limit .

Authoritarian :- Favoring or enforcing strict obedience to authority at the expense of

personal freedom. Authoritarian personality is a state of mind or attitude characterised by

one's belief in absolute obedience or submission to one's own authority, as well as the

administration of that belief through the oppression of one's subordinates. It usually applies to

individuals who are known or viewed as having an authoritative, strict, or oppressive

personality towards subordinates.

In my case, I have rate it down as an authoritative person . I can’t enforce something which is

beneficial for me but it will come at the expense of other’s freedom.in my college life while

pursuing the b.tech , there have occurred many chances when there is a situation , I have to

use this authoritative trait but I never used that trait but some of my colleagueas used that trait

in terms for internship as well as at placement time.

So in my opnion , there should be very less percentage of this trait , you have to bear this.

Type A or Type B : -

The theory describes a Type A individual as ambitious, rigidly organized, highly status

conscious, can be sensitive, care for other people, are truthful, impatient, always try to help

others, take on more than they can handle, want other people to get to the point, proactive,

and obsessed with time management. People with Type A personalities are often high-

achieving "workaholics" who multi-task, push themselves with deadlines, and hate both

delays and ambivalence.

The theory describes Type B individuals as a contrast to those with Type A personalities.

People with Type B personality by definition generally live at a lower stress level and

typically work steadily, enjoying achievement but not becoming stressed when they are not

achieved. When faced with competition, they do not mind losing and either enjoy the game or

back down. They may be creative and enjoy exploring ideas and concepts. They are often

reflective, thinking about the outer and inner worlds.

In my case, I am a Type A personality guy,because I have already discussed , my emotional

stability is bit much higher , caring towards people and try to help others and not

authoritative.

In my college life , I am the coordinator of the technical fest of my college and have assign

the right work to right person .I am truthful to everyone if anyone of them is not doing the

work as it should be and I have to give him advice in such a manner that he/she will not get

hurt so I am taking care of it and also to my values and ethics , I am very truthful to it.

Brief about me: -

1- Helping in nature

2- Extrovert , caring , not authoritative

3- Emotional in nature

4- Trustworthy, eager to cooperate

5- Avoid conflict , staying true to myself

6- Dependable and moderadtely well organized
