June 7, 2014, 12 Bell Street Gallery. Ron Bush has been an impassioned preservationist of Long Island farms: their histories, their tools and machinery used to work the land. He’s also been a champion of saving Long Island’s working farmland itself. At his private Bush Farm Museum, located between Brookhaven Hamlet and Shirley, Bush takes pride in creating a remarkable assemblage of rare and historically important farm hardware and equipment rescued from both the long-gone, and still remembered, farms of yesteryear. e event kicks off on Saturday, June 7 with the Exhibition Preview and Gala. An accompanying Gala Program will serve as exhibition catalog and source of information and is distributed to the broad audience who visit us during the summer-long exhibition. DOWN ON THE FARMSELECT I ONS FROM THE BUSH FARM MUSEUM

Dear Friend,

The Bellport-Brookhaven Historical Society is hosting its annual fundraising event, “Down on the Farm: Selections From the Bush Farm Museum,” honoring founder Ron Bush.

Our most important event of the year will fund the preservation of the Society’s historic structures and enable us to present exhibits and programs that encourage the conservation and enjoyment of our cultural legacy. Who better to represent our support of land and farm preservation than our widely respected neighbor Ron Bush?

In the past, the Society has honored figures from our impressive cultural community for their outstanding contributions to the area. Recent honorees include renowned photographer Bruce Weber, who captured iconic, local visual memories, and Birdsall Otis Edey, the dynamic preservationist who succeeded in diverting highway development away from our treasured historic district.

So we invite you to celebrate another groundbreaker from the Bellport-Brookhaven-East Patchogue area and join us as a supporter of our 2014 exhibition and gala: “Down on the Farm,” Selections from the Bush Farm Museum, Honoring Founder Ron Bush.

The event kicks off on Saturday, June 7 with the Exhibition Preview and Gala. An accompanying Gala Program will serve as exhibition catalog and source of information and is distributed to the broad audience who visit us during the summer-long exhibition.

We invite you to be an important part of this unforgettable evening and exhibition! Please consider becoming a sponsor, or place an ad in our Gala Program to honor Ron Bush. By doing so you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the invaluable Bellport-Brookhaven Historical Society, a leader in preserving the past and supporting the future of our lively and lovely community.
