Recommendation:
print a copy of the MSDS for which you plan to do a Risk
Assessment
you will then have a reference in front of you containing
warnings, Risk codes and phrases needed to make informed
selections during this process.
From your Manifest Tree, Select the ‘Store / location’ from which you will chose a material upon which to perform
the Risk Assessment

Type of Exposure – “AFTER”
Continuous release/emission - where the total time the worker is exposed to the substance / contaminant is greater than three (3) hours, but less than / equal to eight (8) hours.
Intermittent release/emission - where the total time the worker is exposed to the substance / contaminant is less than / equal to three (3) hours for the day
Spill/accident – exposure is limited to unusual events
During maintenance - One off exposure where the total time the worker is exposed to the substance / contaminant is less than / equal to fifteen (15) minutes for the day.
Scale of use:– Minor Domestic - Small scale, infrequent use
– Laboratory - Small scale, frequent use
– Industrial/Commercial - Large scale, at any frequency of use

Control Measures:
VentilationNatural - no mechanical ventilation; windows/vents at opposite ends of the building
General - mechanical ventilation, such as air conditioning
Local - mechanical ventilation at specific work area, such as an exhaust fan, fume hood or air jet to absorb fumes.
Other options:Isolated process - a barrier or remote control system between the chemical and the worker
Enclosed - chemicals completely sealed off from worker
PPE RECS (as shown on previous screens in the presentation)

You can choose to have the system “Auto-assess” (automatically finish the assessment)
from the choices already made or ‘Self-assess’ at this point.

Once selections made click on ‘OK’ to complete the Risk Assessment
** Your Risk Assessment is valid for 5 years as is your MSDS. If the Risk assessment is done during the final year that the MSDS is valid it too will expire when the MSDS does. **
