MAST Workshop in Cameroon Last month I mentioned how I had prayed for a return to Cameroon for MAST and the Marketing team. Here are some pictures and stories to ex plain why the trip was worth the extra effort. I wish I could have taken each one of you with me on this trip! MANKON was not one of the four languages invited by CABTAL to attend the MAST Workshop – but God had a different plan! The Mankon team of four showed up at the Bamenda Regional Training Center on Sunday night for a grammar workshop that had been canc elled. Efi invited them to stay and they accepted. These two ladies, Irene an d Monica, are teache rs, and they made it very clear that they are not translators. In fact, the translator for th e team joine d us the second day. But by then, these two wonderful women had learned to use the MAST method to translate the first chapter of Mark from English in to Mank on. I have no doubt that Go d invited the Ma nkon team to this e vent, and by the e nd of week 2, they had drafted all 16 chapters of Mar k and 15 of the chapters had gone through the first four levels of checking. Well done, Mankon team! By the end of the two-week session, all five groups had drafted the entire book of Mark; three groups had all their work in Mark checked while there were one or two chapeters left to check in the other two. • MAST Workshop in Cameroon Last month I mentioned how I had prayed for a return to Cameroon for MAST and the Marketing team.

Here are some pictures and stories to explain why the trip was worth the extra effort. I wish I could

have taken each one of you with me on this trip!

MANKON was not one of the four languages invited by CABTAL to attend the MAST Workshop but

God had a different plan! The Mankon team of four showed up at the Bamenda Regional Training Center

on Sunday night for a grammar workshop that had been cancelled. Efi invited them to stay and they

accepted. These two ladies, Irene and Monica, are teachers, and they made it very clear that they are

not translators. In fact, the translator for the team joined us the second day. But by then, these two

wonderful women had learned to use the MAST method to translate the first chapter of Mark from

English in to Mankon. I have no doubt that God invited the Mankon team to this event, and by the end

of week 2, they had drafted all 16 chapters of Mark and 15 of the chapters had gone through the first

four levels of checking. Well done, Mankon team!

By the end of the two-week session, all five groups had drafted the entire book of Mark; three groups

had all their work in Mark checked while there were one or two chapeters left to check in the other two.

One group was even able to draft I and II Thessalonians in addition to Mark. Praise God!

    Mankon makes five!

  • The Old Man from Bakoko Every morning Dan Kramer, the MAST Director, invited a couple of different participants to comment on

the actions of the day before. Thursday morning an old man from Bakoko rose to speak. (Its okay to

say old as that is a compliment in Africa!) He thanked his team for giving him the honor of reporting

on their activities and then explained how MAST had changed his thinking. We thought it would take

ten years to complete our New Testament, he said, and I do not think I will be here in ten years. But

now we believe it can be done in three and a half years. I can still be here then! What a blessing for

this man and for the entire Bakoko community.

Forty-two participants and five facilitators are now ready to move forward, sharing MAST with their

communities and with others who request the training workshop.

Video Shoot: Bad Roads In addition to the MAST program, I also helped host a WA Marketing team who came with three

videographers to film the MAST program including background information on Cameroon life. While I

thought the road to Wum was better than in the past, they were still surprised by the difficulty of

travel here. At one point I got to drive a pick-up across a rickety bridge three times while they

captured the even. Driving across the bridge was easy turning around on the road to make another

swipe not so much! But it was a great time with a great group of Gods praying people.

Prayer & Praise Items Pray that my body will tolerate the new chemo meds and that they will be effective

Praise God for the success of the Cameroon events and relatively good health.

Pray for my Illinois visit planned for the month of April. Easter at home its been awhile!

Pray for increased support as medical bills are once again building up.
