Your board of directors has concluded after careful consideration that an increase

in yearly dues is warranted to help bring income more in line with increasing oper-

ating expenses.

GSBF Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt Update

November program featured Gordon Deeg illustrating the bending of large

branches. We were treated to the transformation of a black pine owned by Randi

Keppeler and the straightening of a needle juniper. Several techniques were dis-

cussed including the use of rebar, removal of a block of live material allowing the

branch to bend, branch benders, and much more.

Club Meetings

Our club meetings are held at the San Mateo Garden Center in the main salon. The meeting occurs on the 4th Wednesday of each month, except in December. The meeting normally starts at 7:30 pm and ends at 10 pm. Each month we cover different Bonsai topics and techniques. The San Francisco Bay Area is home to a wealth of Bonsai knowledge both resi-dent and visiting.

The San Mateo Garden Center is at 605 Parkside Way, San Mateo, CA right off the Alameda de las Pulgas near Hillsdale Mall.

First Tuesday Workshops:

This is an extremely popular event right now as there are a number of us just starting out. Because of room and time limitations, it is restricted to members only. Bring yourself, your questions, and your bonsai or pre-bonsai materials and tools. The workshop is currently on the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm. It is held the Rose Room at the San Mateo Garden Center.
