Segregation of Wastes at Construction Sites
• What is Waste Segregation?• Segregation of Wastes :- It is defined as the
Separation of various types of wastes generated and their proper categorization depending on their nature. It is mainly done to separate and store wastes of similar nature at a single place so that they can be easily transported and disposed in a proper manner without creating nuisance and hindrance for the other persons.
Segregation and Categorization of Construction Site Wastes.
• Segregation & Categorization of Construction Site Wastes :- Construction Site Wastes can be segregated & categorized as :– (i) Biodegradable Waste : It includes Organic Wastes like Food and Paper Wastes.– (ii) Non-biodegradable Waste : This can be further classified into :
• 1. Recyclable Waste : These can be recycled. Ex . Plastic, Glass and Metal Wastes.
• 2. Hazardous and Toxic Waste : These include wastes like Oily Sludge, Oily Cotton Waste, Tips of Welding Rods etc.
• 3. Biomedical or Clinical Waste : They include wastes like Cotton Wastes, Band Aid Wastes, Adhesive Tape and Blood soaked clothes from First-aid wound dressings.
