Cintas Employee Accused of Identity Theft
A Fort Worth, Texas man who drove a document shredding truck for Cintas Document Managementdid not destroy confidential documents as Cintas was hired by its customers to do. Instead, the manwas stealing the documents and selling them to identity thieves.
Cintas promotes its off-ste shredding as secure and safe.
The number of potential victims may be in the thousands and the total loss may be in the millions.
Cintas employee, Patrick Doucet's Fort Worth home was searched last week and police seizedcomputers, cell phones and other items after they found an identity victim's check in Doucet's trash.
Court documents indicate this is a multi-state theft ring. The investigation began in January in Atlanta.Police arrested another woman in Atlanta and charged her with writing fake checks in anotherwoman's name.
Fort Worth detectives have confirmed Doucet was a truck driver for Cintas and that the thefts involvedCintas' customers on his route.
All Points Mobile shredding provides on-site document shredding to ensure the security and safety ofour customers. This allows you to observe the entire process. The documents are destroyed before weleave the site and you are issued a Certificate of Destruction. We highly recommend on-sitedocument shredding to prevent the type of incident that occurred above.

How To Respond To A Data Breach
Data breaches have more than doubled since 2009. Reported incidents of involving theft of personalinformation hit 25,566 cases in 2013 up from 10.481 in 2009 according to the GovernmentAccountability Office (GAO). The GAO has given guidelines on how to respond to such a breach: (1) Establish a data breach response team Create a team to oversee responses to a suspected or confirmed data breach. (2) Train employees on roles and responsibilities for breach Train employees on their data breach response plan and their roles and responsibilities in the event abreach should occur. (3) Prepare reports on suspected data breaches and submit them to appropriate internal and externalentities Establish procedures for promptly reporting a suspected for confirmed breach to the appropriate entity. (4) Assess harm Assess the likely risk of harm and level of impact of a suspected data breach in order to determinewhether notification to affected individuals is needed. In addition, assess what remedial actions mightbe taken. (5) Offer assistance to affected individuals (if appropriate) After the Target breach, Target offered credit monitoring services to affected individuals. Think of waysto mitigate the risk of harm. (6) Analyze breach response and identify lessons learned Review and evaluate your response. Hold a "lessons learned" meeting with all involved parties.
