SECTION 11214 HORIZONTAL SPLIT CASE CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 SUMMARY OF WORK

A. The contractor shall furnish and install single-stage, double suction, horizontal split case pumping units as specified herein and shown on the contract drawings.

B. The term "pumping unit" or "units" shall be defined as a pump complete with base plate, coupling, coupling guard, and motor.

C. The pump manufacturer shall be responsible for supplying the complete pumping unit as defined above and shall assume complete system responsibility.

1.03 GENERAL DESIGN:

A. Three (3) high service capacity (1,658 gpm) and two (2) high service capacity (1,000 gpm) horizontal split case centrifugal pumps are to be installed as part of the potable water high service pump system. One (1) of the high service capacity (1,658 gpm) pump motor and one (1) of the high service capacity (1,000 gpm) pump motor shall have capabilities to be VFD driven. All remaining pump motors shall operate using the solid state reduced voltage starters. The pumps shall be located and installed as shown on the Drawings.

B. The operation of the new high service pumps will be controlled by the new PLC’s based on pressure settings. The operating pressures and other operational information are contained in Division 16 – Electrical sections of the Specifications.

C. VFD driven motors shall be nameplated as inverter-duty and rated for VFD operation and be non-overloading over the entire operating range of the pumps. All other motors shall be nameplated as existing.

1.06 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. To ensure unity of responsibility, the complete pump unit shall be supplied, tested, and warranted by the pump manufacturer.

B. The equipment specified under this section is to be standard pumping equipment manufactured by a company with no less than fifteen years experience in the manufacture of such equipment. Upon request by the engineer, the manufacturer shall provide proof of such experience by providing installation lists, brochures, catalog cuts, etc.

C. The manufacturer of the pump units shall have a quality management system in place and shall be ISO 9001. Current certificates of validation shall be required dated through the Start up phase of this project.

D. Pumping units shall be manufactured by Peerless Pumps, Worthington or Goulds without exception. All pumps for each pump system shall be provided from the same pump manufacturer. The naming of a particular manufacturer does not alleviate the requirement to conform with the project documents and performance requirements of this section.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 GENERAL

A. The pumping units provided under this section shall be supplied by one manufacturer.

B. Pump assembly shall meet the requirements specified in Table 11214 – A.

C. Each pumping unit shall be provided with a stainless steel nameplate, which shall contain the following information:

1. Equipment tag number

2. Manufacturer's name, address, and telephone number

3. Model number

4. Serial number

5. Head, capacity and rpm at rated condition

6. Motor horsepower, rpm and frame size

D. Pumping units within each type of service shall be identical in every respect with all parts being interchangeable.

E. Pump rotating assemblies shall be balanced in accordance with the requirements of ANSI S2.19, G6.3.

F. Vibration, when measured at the pump bearing housing shall not exceed the limitations specified by the Hydraulic Institute Standards. Additional requirements listed in field performance testing.

2.02 HYDRAULIC DESIGN CRITERIA

A. The Pumping units shall be in accordance with the design parameters in Table 11214 – A.

2.03 DETAILS OF CONSTRUCTION

A. Pump Casing

1. Pump casing shall be of close grain cast iron type ASTM A48, class 30, designed for heavy-duty service. The casing shall be horizontally split; single volute type with the suction and discharge flanges cast integrally with the lower half in order that the upper part may be removed for inspection of the rotating element without disturbing pipe connections or pump alignment. Pump mounting feet are to be cast integrally into the lower half casing with the mounting surface completely machined. The joint between halves of the casing shall be heavily flanged and bolted, and provided with dowel pins to insure accurate alignment. The upper half-casing flange shall have tapped holes for jackscrews. The interior shall be smooth and free from surface defects.

2. Thickness, diameter and drilling dimensions of suction and discharge flanges shall be Class 125 ANSI standard. Pump casings shall have a minimum

suction and discharge flanged connection size as shown on the detailed drawings. Casings shall be drilled and tapped for vertical priming, gauge, and drain connections. Suitable lifting lugs or eyebolts shall be provided. The Top and bottom casings shall be gasketed. The bearing bracket shall be integral cast to the suction housing. Bolted bearing supports of any type shall not be permitted for this installation.

B. Impeller and Sleeves

1. Impeller shall be of the double suction enclosed type made entirely of ASTM B148-C95800, or NiA1 bronze finish smooth all over and of ample strength and stiffness for maintaining the maximum capacity of the unit.

2. It shall be statically and dynamically balanced and shall be keyed to the shaft and securely held in horizontal position on the shaft by means of ASTM B 584-C93200 bronze or 316 stainless steel sleeves extended through the stuffing box. Rotation of the shaft sleeves shall be prevented by the impeller key, which shall extend beyond the impeller hub and into the shaft sleeve on both sides of the impeller. Shaft sleeves shall be held in position by a locking shaft sleeve nut located outside of the stuffing box and shall have an O-ring seal between the sleeve and the nut to prevent entrance of air or liquid between the shaft and sleeve.

C. Wear Rings

1. At the running joint between the suction and discharge chambers, there shall be provided wear rings on both the casing and impeller.

2. The casing rings shall be of ASTM B 584-C93200 bronze, positioned in the casing and locked against rotation by the upper half of the case.

3. Impeller rings shall be of ASTM B505-932 (ASTM B584-C83600) bronze, so fastened that they cannot rotate or become loose when the pump is subjected to reversed rotation. The rings shall be made to limit gauges, so that they may be renewed without fitting.

D. Pump Shaft

1. The shaft shall be of AISI 1141 or AISI 1045 and of such dimensions that the maximum combined stress due to bending and torsion shall not exceed 8,000 pounds per square inch under the most severe conditions of operation.

2. The shaft shall be accurately machined over its entire length. The first critical speed of the rotating assembly shall occur at not less than 150% of the rated speed.

3. Threads on the pump shaft shall be located outside of the stuffing box.

E. Stuffing Boxes Mechanically Sealed

1. Mechanical seals shall be John Crane Type A, Type 21, Type 1, or approved equal.

1. Bearings shall be of the anti-friction type grease lubricated ball.

2. The bearing configuration shall consist of one single row deep grooved anti-friction bearing on the inboard side and two single row deep grooved anti-friction bearings mounted back to back on the outboard side. The inboard bearing shall be designed to take the radial thrust loads. The outboard bearings shall be designed to take a combination of loads, both radial and horizontal; and hold the rotor in horizontal alignment. Single row outboard bearings will not be accepted.

3. Bearings shall have a minimum rated service life of 40,000 hours in accordance with the standards of the Bearings Manufacturers Association throughout the specified operating range. Bearings shall be mounted in dust tight housings shall be rigidly supported by suitable brackets, which shall be cast with integrally with the lower half or the pump casing. Bearing housings or bearing housing supports, which are bolted to the side of the pump casing, are not acceptable.

4. A deflector made of aluminum shall be provided on the inboard and outboard ends of the pump shaft to prevent product from entering either bearing housing.

G. Pump Base

1. The pump and motor shall be mounted on a common base of fabricated ASTM A36 steel. Bent metal or formed bases are not acceptable. The base plate will have a full sided drip lip rim with minimum ¾ inch female NPT half couplings one on each side. The motor mounting surfaced shall be machined to accept the motor and fitted with proper slotted stainless steel shims. The motor mounting plate shall incorporate adjusting and leveling screws for field alignment of the motor. The base plate shall be fitted with anchor bolt holes. The base shall have grout holes and each end of the base shall have breather holes to insure no air pockets form and a smooth flow of grout.

2. The base shall be provided with a hinged, lockable and adjustable OSHA nonmetallic coupling guard. All fasteners shall be 316 stainless steel.

3. All mounting surfaces shall have a machined finish.

H. Couplings

1. The coupling shall be Martin, TB Woods, Falk SteelFlex or approved equal spacer type with elastomeric sleeves of EPDM.

2. Sized to transmit the maximum required horsepower with a 1.5 service factor.

I. Motors shall be AC induction horizontal rigid frame 3 phase 60 Hz 460 volt power. The motor enclosure shall be TEFC, Inverter duty, premium efficiency, Class F insulation B rise at 40 degrees C ambient. Each motor provided shall include space heaters and normally closed thermostats for moisture and thermal protection. Each motor shall be short commercial tested.

2.04 CONTROLS AND ACCESSORIES

A. CONTRACTOR shall provide pump controls as shown and specified in the applicable Sections of Division 13, Special Construction.

2.01 FACTORY TESTING

A. Each pump shall undergo a certified hydrostatic test at 150% of the pressure developed at shut-off head.

B. A certified performance test shall be performed on each pumping unit utilizing its specified calibrated driver at full speed and 80%, 60% and 40% of full speed. All tests shall be performed in accordance with the Hydraulic Institute Test Standards for Centrifugal Pumps current edition.

C. Six evenly spaced test points shall be taken and shall include conditions at shut-off (zero flow) and at 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% and 125% of primary design flow. Preliminary test data must be submitted to the owner seven days prior to the actual test date.

2.02 WARRANTY

A. The warranty period shall be five (5) years starting from Substantial Completion. Refer to Section 01740 Warranties and Bonds, for additional warranty requirements.

2.03 SPARE PARTS

A. The Contractor shall furnish a complete set of recommended spare parts necessary for the first five (5) years of operation of the pumping system. The Contractor shall furnish, as a minimum, for each pump, the following spare parts, properly boxed and labeled for each pump:

1. (2) sets of gaskets and O-rings 2. (2) mechanical seals 3. (2) sets of wear rings 4. One year supply of each type of lubricant required

B. If this minimum spare parts list is not inclusive of the manufacturer’s recommendation, then contractor shall provide the remaining spare parts as recommended by the manufacturer.

C. Spare parts shall be properly bound and labeled for easy identification without opening the packaging and suitably protected for long term storage.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION

A. The installation of the pumping units shall be in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendation.

B. Grout, installed to level the pumps on the concrete equipment pads, shall be no more than 1-inch in thickness, unless written instructions from the pump manufacturer allows for a variation.

C. Connections between the piping and the pumps shall only occur in the presence of the Owner’s representative. The pumps shall not be forced to connect to the piping. Notification of pipe connections shall be provided a minimum of 48 hours in advance of the work.

D. All electrical connections shall be performed in accordance with the Division 16 – Electrical sections of the Specifications.

E. The pump suction and discharge piping shall be connected in accordance with the recommendations of the manufacturer and as indicated on the drawings. At no time shall the pumping units be used to support the piping or appurtenances.

F. The seal water system shall be furnished and installed. Seal water piping shall consist of 316 stainless steel tubing arranged in the API plan to be recommended by the manufacturer.

3.02 FIELD TEST

A. The pumping units shall be installed in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer and as shown on the Drawings.

B. Installation shall include furnishing the required oil and grease for initial operation. The grades of oil and grease shall be in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendation.

C. The installation shall be certified correct by the pump manufacturer or certified representative of the pump manufacturer capable of performing all field testing. The pump manufacturer shall provide authorization for the representative to perform the work. The pump manufacture shall provide three (3) service days for one for preliminary alignment, one for final alignment and one for performance testing.

D. The pump manufacture shall keep a field log of the Factory Field Service and test data. The manufacture shall perform all the testing unless otherwise indicated to insure warranty. On completion the test data shall be turned over to the engineer of record for the owners use.

1. The contractor shall megger the motor, confirm voltage and take no load amp draw in the presence of the pump manufacture.

2. The pump manufacturer shall check shaft alignment by laser prior to grouting the base plate.

3. After grouting cure the pump manufacturer shall return to the site and laser align the pump and motor shafts. The laser alignment shall be conducted in conjunction with a soft foot.

4. The pump shall be run at full speed and at the minimum speed as will allow injecting into the system taking a minimum of four (4) readings including flow and head. The setting shall be measured against static settings for suction

and discharge based on gauge location to the center line and liquid levels supplying suction to that center line.

5. Amp draw and voltage will be taken by the electrician at each point at each speed and recorded.

6. Speed shall be confirmed by the Contractor through the use of a speed tachometer and recorded at each point taken.

7. Grease levels shall be confirmed in both pump and motor in board and out board bearings.

8. Vibration reading shall be recorded at each full speed test point by the Contractor. These readings shall be in satisfactory range as outlined in the Hydraulic Institute Standards. Any equipment failing to meet these limits shall be corrected by the pump manufacture and the contractor.

E. Training: In addition to the startup services, the pump manufacturer shall provide one (1) full day of operation training for the pump and motor. Refer to Section 01010 Summary of Project, for additional training requirements.

SECTION 11345 SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE FEED SYSTEM

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 DESCRIPTION

A. Scope of Work: The CONTRACTOR shall provide all labor, materials, services, equipment and incidentals, required to furnish, install, test and place in satisfactory operation, the sodium hypochlorite feed system as shown on the Drawings and specified herein. This Section includes:

1. Two duplex sodium hypochlorite chemical metering pump skids complete with diaphragm metering pumps and appurtenances.

2. Sodium hypochlorite chemical piping, valves, fittings, and appurtenances connecting the sodium hypochlorite storage tanks and metering pump skids to make a complete sodium hypochlorite storage and feed system as shown on the Drawings.

all components. Conduct a minimum of two (2) training seminars at the site, for a minimum of 4 hours each for Owner’s personnel. Training sessions shall be recorded.

e. Supervise the correction of any defective or faulty work before and after acceptance by OWNER.

1.03 SUBMITTALS

A. Shop Drawings: Refer to Section 01300. Provide the following:

1. Manufacturer’s literature, catalog cuts and specifications for metering pumps and accessories showing dimensions, materials of construction and performance data.

2. Schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation details.

3. Drawings of the duplex metering pump skid with scale and dimensions.

B. Operation and Maintenance Manuals

1. Operation and Maintenance Manuals: Submit complete installation, operation and maintenance manuals including copies of all approved shop drawings as required by Section 01730, Operating and Maintenance Data.

2. Required Maintenance Data: Maintenance data shall include all information and instructions required by plant personnel to keep equipment property lubricated and adjusted so that it functions economically throughout its full design life. Name, address, and phone number of manufacturer and manufacturer’s local service representative.

C. Temporary Sodium Hypochlorite System

1. Contractor shall be responsible for supplying a temporary chemical feed system, adequately sized to service to the existing plant. Contractor shall submit a temporary chemical plan detailing the temporary chemical skids supplied, location, secondary containment for temporary skids, connections to the existing piping, and schedule/phasing of chemical improvements. The temporary system shall be tested and calibrated prior to removing the existing system for renovation and replacement. Owner shall provide chemical for the temporary system. See specification 01014 Sequence of Construction for the phasing requirements of the temporary sodium hypochlorite system.

2. The Temporary Sodium Hypochlorite System consists of but not limited to the following:

a. 1,000 gallons of bulk chemical storage within OSHA approved secondary containment. Bulk tank shall be provided with appropriate fill, vent, and overflow piping.

b. A metering pump system with a duty and standby metering pump for both pre-chlorination and post chlorination (four pumps total).

c. Fill connections angled toward the roadway to facilitate filling of the bulk storage tank. A means of visual level indication in sight of the fill connection shall be provided.

d. A day tank or other means (e.g. level transmitter) to provide accurate daily chemical usage information to the Owner for chemical management and reporting purposes.

e. Piping, valves, and appurtenances necessary for transfer and feed of sodium hypochlorite into the existing system. Piping located outside of secondary containment areas shall be tubing routed through schedule 80 PVC chase pipe.

f. Temporary power for metering pumps and instrumentation. g. Temporary instrumentation and control. Instrumentation and control

shall provide the Owner with the necessary signals to operate and monitor the temporary system similar to the existing system. Wiring, conduit, and programming necessary to integrate the temporary system into the existing control system shall be the responsibility of the contractor. The anticipated signals are as follows:

i. Pump run command ii. Pump speed control iii. Pump speed feedback iv. Pump fail v. Pump in remote

h. The temporary system shall meet all regulatory requirements and provide the Owner with a fully functional system to supply sodium hypochlorite similar to the existing system. The temporary system shall be set up and implemented such that there is no interruption in sodium hypochlorite capacity. Chemical will be supplied by the Owner, all other required accessories and consumables for a fully functional temporary system shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. Any chemical disposal required as part of the demolition of the existing system shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. Chemical shall be disposed of at an EPA approved facility.

3. The temporary sodium hypochlorite system shall be furnished, installed, and tested by the Contractor. Once the system is functional and accepted, it will be operated by the Owner.

1.04 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING

A. The equipment provided under this section shall be shipped handled and stored in accordance with the manufacturer’s written instructions and in accordance with Section 01610.

1.05 WARRANTY AND GUARANTEES

A. Provide equipment (system) warranty period for five (5) years starting from Substantial Completion. Refer to Section 01740 Warranties and Bonds, for additional warranty requirements.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 GENERAL

A. All wetted surfaces of metering pumps and appurtenances, and all sealing gaskets shall be suitable for continuous exposure to sodium hypochlorite (10-15 percent solution, maximum specific gravity = 1.23).

2.02 SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE CHEMICAL SOLUTION METERING PUMPS

A. Sodium Hypochlorite Metering Pumps:

1. The System supplier shall furnish two (2) skid-mounted sodium hypochlorite metering pumps for pre-chlorination dosing, each with a capacity of 9.0 gph and (2) skid-mounted sodium hypochlorite metering pumps for post-chlorination dosing, each with a capacity of 5.5 gph. The metering pumps are sized such that the maximum required dosage can be achieved with one (1) pumps operating.

2. Pump controls shall be located on the pump frame with easy access for operation.

3. The pumps shall be horizontal, positive displacement, diaphragm metering pumps, capable of the following:

a. Turndown ratio of 1:120 minimum. b. Full stroke length with adjustable suction stroke speed. c. Analog speed control d. 120 VAC, 60 Hz, single phase. e. PVDF pump head. f. Ball check valves. Disc or poppet valves are unacceptable.

4. Each metering pump shall be specifically designed to meet the full range of sodium hypochlorite concentrations and its vapors and automatically evacuate air and vapors from the pump head during operation. Pre-chlorination

B. Metering Pump Skid:

1. All pumps shall be mounted on skids as shown on the Drawings. The skids shall be piped and valved according to the P&IDs.

2. The pump system skids shall be complete and shall contain the chemical metering pumps, all necessary piping, valves, fittings, supports, electrical controls, and accessories as specified herein. The skids shall contain the following:

a. PVC or Polypropylene skid with drip lip and spill alarm. b. Metering pump and motor. c. Pump controller. d. Calibration tube with vent. e. Calibration column f. Pulsation dampener. g. Back pressure valve h. Solenoid relief valve for pump start i. Pressure gauges with diaphragm seals. j. Ball valves. k. Flushing inlet and outlets l. Pressure relief valve. m. Strainer. n. All piping, valves, gaskets, supports, hardware, wiring, junction boxes,

and accessories necessary for a fully functioning skid. Piping shall be terminated within two inches of the edge of skid. Electrical cables shall terminate in the control panel.

3. An adequate number of unions shall be provided so that each appurtenance may be removed individually (i.e. without removing other appurtenances).

4. Separate piping skid (wall-mounted, if possible) and pump skid (floor mounted) shall be provided to minimize horizontal distance between pumps and piping. Piping shall be sloped to vent gases (back to the tank) and each pump skid shall include a dedicated vent line upstream of the pumps.

5. Separate skids shall be provided for pre and post chlorination with interconnecting piping to allow each skid to provide pre and post chlorination.

6. Equipment (pumps, valves, and appurtenances) shall be located to minimize the need for an operator to reach over operating equipment.

7. Spill containment shall be provided below pump and piping skids.

8. Skid shall include a drain port and valve.

9. Removable, clear splash containment panels shall be provided around pumps and piping.

10. Each chemical feed system shall be completely assembled, mounted, calibrated, tested, and delivered to the project location on a duplex skid. Items to be mounted on the skid are as indicated on the Drawings. These shall include the metering pump, calibration column, piping valves, piping accessories, and wiring integral to the skid. The chemical feed system supplier shall be responsible for providing all equipment, valves, and piping within the skid boundary.

11. The skids shall be constructed of fusion welded PVC or polypropylene sheets of minimum ½-inch thickness with adequate supports for all equipment and piping. Fork lift truck cut outs and anchor bolt holes shall be provided. Clear acrylic spray shield and doors shall be provided to be hinged on each skid.

12. All components of the skid mounted system (pumps, piping, and controls) shall be tested prior to shipment. All materials shall be suitable for respective chemical service.

13. System supplier shall furnish the two (2) sodium hypochlorite metering pumps in (1) pre-assembled duplex metering pump skid with all required electrical equipment, piping, valves, fittings, and appurtenances for dosing sodium hypochlorite as indicated on the drawings.

14. Metering pump skid suction piping shall be 1-1/2” in size and will include a degassing riser and calibration column. Metering pump skid discharge piping shall be 3/4” in size and will include a pulsation dampener, back pressure/anti-siphon valve, manual pressure gauge with isolator for each metering pump.

15. Skid piping shall be Schedule 80 PVC. Piping shall be as specified in Section 15064.

16. Ball valves shall be furnished. Cross connection valves shall be furnished as per P&IDs. Isolation valves shall be provided at all equipment connections. Valve materials shall match adjacent piping material.

17. An adjustable (0 – 150 psi) external pressure relief valve shall be installed on the pump discharge header set as recommended by pump manufacturer. The relief shall discharge to pump suction header.

18. A gas charged pulsation dampener shall be provided and sized for a minimum of 90% dampening. Pulsation dampener shall include gas charge fitting and pressure gauge. The dampener shall be installed in the discharge piping of each metering pump, as close to the metering pump discharge check valve as possible. All materials shall be compatible with sodium hypochlorite.

19. A back pressure valve shall be provided in the discharge piping of each metering pump to provide a constant back pressure at the chemical metering pump discharge. The back pressure valve shall be fully adjustable from 0 – 150 psi with body compatible with sodium hypochlorite, Teflon diaphragm and have no metal parts in contact with the chemical.

20. A solenoid relief valve shall be provided in the discharge piping to allow the pump to start under a reduced head condition and expel accumulated gas. The solenoid valve shall be actuated through an adjustable time delay relay to close between 0 and 5 minutes after pump start. Valve shall be NEMA 4X solenoid actuated valve with PVC body, PTFE bellows rated for 2 million cycles, Viton FKM seals, connector indicator light to show when solenoid is energized, continuous duty Class F coil, and rated for 140 psi maximum inlet pressure and 38 psi maximum back pressure.

21. A 2-inch liquid filled gauge shall be furnished on the discharge of each pump, and shall be protected by a glycerin filled gauge protector with Teflon diaphragm. The casings of the gauge shall be 316 stainless steel and accuracy shall be 2% or better.

22. All metering pump skid electrical enclosures, connections and components shall be NEMA 4X rated.

a. The NEMA 4X FRP terminal junction box (TJB) shall be provided on the skid back panel for termination of all wiring. A power outlet with in-use weatherproof cover shall be provided for any metering pumps, or accessories that require an outlet. The outlet(s) shall be factory wired to the TJB in non-metallic flexible conduit and be fed from the protected side of the AC surge arrestor. All signal and control cables shall be neatly ran to the TJB and terminated using NEMA 4X cable grips and landed to terminals for field connections. For all devices with multiple cables, the cables shall be bundled in a single protective nylon overbraid. The inside cover of the terminal box shall include a wiring diagram detailing the function of all terminals. A power disconnect switch or breaker shall be provided in the terminal junction box. Surge protection shall be provided locally in the skid mounted terminal junction box. Protection shall be provided for the main power supply as well as all analog input and output signals. Surge protection devices shall be as manufactured by EDCO Inc. of Florida or approved equal. The NEMA 4X TJB shall provide the following I/O at a minimum:

i. Terminals for 120VAC power (local heavy duty surge protection included).

ii. 15A Breaker for Main AC Power. iii. HOA Selector Switch for each pump. iv. DI = Remote On/Off for each pump. v. AI = Remote Speed Reference for each pump (local surge protection

included) vi. DO = Run Status for each pump vii. DO = Remote Status for each pump viii. DO = Fault Status for each pump

23. A spare parts and maintenance kit shall be supplied for the metering pumps and skid.

C. Spare Parts

1. Provide the following spare parts to the OWNER for each chemical metering skid upon delivery of the pump skid. Spare parts shall include all parts required for (2) years of normal maintenance of all components of the chemical metering system. All parts shall be in one box labeled with the Skid ID Information:

a. (1) maintenance kits for each chemical metering pump. Maintenance kits shall include but not be limited to diaphragm, check valve seats, gaskets and o-rings.

b. (3) maintenance kits total for a pressure relief valve. c. (3) maintenance kits total for a back pressure valve. d. (3) spare bladders total for a pulsation dampener. e. (2) spare ball valves for each pump skid. f. (1) spare solenoid relief valve for each pump skid. g. (1) Parts list for all serviceable components. h. 2.03 SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE FEED PIPING

A. General

1. All wetted surfaces of sodium hypochlorite feed piping, fittings, and appurtenances shall be suitable for continuous exposure to sodium hypochlorite (10-15 percent solution, maximum specific gravity = 1.23).

B. Suction Piping and Accessories:

1. Suction piping and fittings shall be Schedule 80 PVC, NSF 61 approved for potable use.

2. Calibration column shall be a 1000 mL clear PVC calibration column with a 3/4” threaded base and a removable top.

3. PVC ball valves shall be of one piece capsule type manufactured of Type 1, Grade 1 PVC. Ball valves shall be true union design with two-way blocking capability and shall have solvent welded socket ends. Vented PVC ball valves shall be furnished for sodium hypochlorite services.

4. Ball valves shall have Teflon seats with Viton backing cushions and Viton O-ring seals, and shall be designed for a 150 psi working pressure at 120°F. Valves shall be supplied with ABS lever operating handles.

5. PVC ball valves shall be Type 21 manufactured by Asahi/America, or an equal approved by the Engineer.

D. Sodium Hypochlorite Discharge Tubing

1. Tubing for the sodium hypochlorite feed shall manufactured from linear low density polyethylene in the sizes as shown on the drawings. Tubing sizes called out on the drawings shall refer to the inside diameter of the tubing. Tubing shall be provided within Schedule 80 PVC chase pipes. Tubing shall be NSF-61 or FDA approved with a minimum working pressure of 90 psi. Tubing shall be Zelite as manufactured by New Age Industries, or approved equal.

E. Fastening System

1. A non-corrosive vinyl ester and PVC fastening system shall be used to secure sodium hypochlorite solution piping and tubing to the skids.

F. Expansion Joints for Sodium Hypochlorite Service

1. Expansion joints shall be of the molded bellows design with 5 convolutions manufactured of PTFE fluorocarbon conforming to ASTM D1457.

2. Flanges and T-bands of Pureflex Durcor-62 shall be provided. Bolts, nuts, and washers shall be titanium. Limit cables of 30355 and spray shield shall be provided.

3. Expansion joints shall be Flexi-Joint 4 FIBA 5 S1 with spray shield, or equal approved by Engineer.

G. QUICK CONNECTS

1. Quick connects shall be provided as indicated on the drawings. Quick connects shall be cam lock type as manufactured by Banjo or approved equal. Quick connects shall be made from polypropylene. All quick connects shall be provided with cap and chain. Cap material shall match quick connect. Chain material shall be 316 stainless steel.

2.04 EMERGENCY EYEWASH/SHOWER

A. Furnish and install stainless steel combination emergency shower and eyewash as shown on the drawings.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 INSPECTION

A. Inspect all equipment immediately upon delivery to site. All surfaces shall be smooth, free of voids and porosity, without dry spots, crazes or unreinforced areas. If damaged, notify OWNER’S representative and manufacturer at once.

B. Do not install damaged equipment until repairs are made in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions and approved by the OWNER’S representative. Only minor repair work shall be permitted in the field. All other damaged items shall be sent to factory for repair or replacement.

3.02 INSTALLATION

A. Install equipment in conformance with manufacturer's instructions.

B. Metering pumps and stand shall be secured in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

C. Support piping independent of pump.

D. Pump installations shall include furnishing and applying an initial supply of any lubricants recommended by the manufacturer.

E. Make all electrical connections in conformance with the requirements of Division 16, Electrical.

F. Metering Pump Manufacturers Field Services:

1. Retain factory trained representatives of the metering pump manufacturer with demonstrated ability and experience in the installation and operation of the metering pumps to perform services per 1.02.C. above.

3.03 START-UP, TESTING, AND INSTRUCTION

A. Make adjustments necessary to place equipment in optimum operating condition.

E. Demonstrate and document accuracy and calibration of each metering pump using job supplied calibration chamber.

F. Contractor shall remove and dispose of the temporary sodium hypochlorite storage and feed system following the testing and Owner acceptance of the new sodium hypochlorite storage and feed system.

3.04 TRAINING

A. In addition to the startup services, the System Supplier shall provide one (1) full day of operation training for the metering pumps and skids once on site testing is completed. Refer to Section 01010 Summary of Project, for additional training requirements.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 GENERAL

A. All wetted surfaces of metering pumps and appurtenances, and all sealing gaskets shall be suitable for continuous exposure to hydrofluorosilicic acid (23% percent solution).

2.02 HYDROFLUOROSILICIC ACID CHEMICAL SOLUTION METERING PUMPS

A. Hydrofluorosilicic acid Metering Pumps:

1. The System supplier shall furnish two (2) skid-mounted hydrofluorosilicic acid metering pumps per skid for dosing hydrofluorosilicic acid solution. The metering pumps are sized such that the maximum required dosage can be achieved with one (1) pumps operating.

2. Pump controls shall be located on the pump frame with easy access for operation.

3. The pumps shall be horizontal, positive displacement, diaphragm metering pumps, capable of the following:

a. Capacity of 1.0 gph with stroke rate not less 20 stroke per minute; maximum discharge pressure of 140 psig or greater.

b. Turndown ratio of 1:120 minimum. c. Full stroke length with adjustable suction stroke speed. d. Analog speed control e. 120 VAC, 60 Hz, single phase. f. PVDF pump head. g. Ball check valves. Disc or poppet valves are unacceptable.

4. Each metering pump shall be specifically designed to meet the full range of hydrofluorosilicic acid concentrations and its vapors and automatically evacuate air and vapors from the pump head during operation. Metering pumps shall be Jesco Memdos DX 4 or Prominent Gamma /L 1005 without exception.

B. Metering Pump Skid:

1. All pumps shall be mounted on skids as shown on the Drawings. The skids shall be piped and valved according to the P&IDs.

2. The pump system skids shall be complete and shall contain the chemical metering pumps, all necessary piping, valves, fittings, supports, electrical controls, and accessories as specified herein. The skids shall contain the following:

a. PVC or Polypropylene skid with drip lip and spill alarm.

b. Metering pump and motor. c. Pump controller. d. Calibration tube with vent. e. Calibration column f. Pulsation dampener. g. Back pressure valve h. Solenoid relief valve for pump start i. Pressure gauges with diaphragm seals. j. Ball valves. k. Flushing inlet and outlets l. Pressure relief valve. m. Strainer. n. All piping, valves, gaskets, supports, hardware, wiring, junction boxes,

and accessories necessary for a fully functioning skid. Piping shall be terminated within two inches of the edge of skid. Electrical cables shall terminate in the control panel.

3. An adequate number of unions shall be provided so that each appurtenance may be removed individually (i.e. without removing other appurtenances).

4. Separate piping skid (wall-mounted, if possible) and pump skid (floor mounted) shall be provided to minimize horizontal distance between pumps and piping.

5. Equipment (pumps, valves, and appurtenances) shall be located to minimize the need for an operator to reach over operating equipment.

6. Spill containment shall be provided below pump and piping skids.

7. Removable, clear splash containment panels shall be provided around pumps and piping.

8. Each chemical feed system shall be completely assembled, mounted, calibrated, tested, and delivered to the project location on a duplex skid. Items to be mounted on the skid are as indicated on the Drawings. These shall include the metering pump, calibration column, piping valves, piping accessories, and wiring integral to the skid. The chemical feed system supplier shall be responsible for providing all equipment, valves, and piping within the skid boundary.

9. The skids shall be constructed of fusion welded PVC or polypropylene sheets of minimum ½-inch thickness with adequate supports for all equipment and piping. Fork lift truck cut outs and anchor bolt holes shall be provided. Clear acrylic spray shield and doors shall be provided with each skid.

10. All components of the skid mounted system (pumps, piping, and controls) shall be tested prior to shipment. All materials shall be suitable for respective chemical service.

11. System supplier shall furnish the two (2) hydrofluorosilicic acid metering pumps in (1) pre-assembled duplex metering pump skid with all required

electrical equipment, piping, valves, fittings, and appurtenances for dosing hydrofluorosilicic acid as indicated on the drawings.

12. Metering pump skid suction piping shall be 1/2” in size and will include a degassing riser and calibration column.

13. Metering pump skid discharge piping shall be 1/2” in size and will include a pulsation dampener, back pressure/anti-siphon valve, manual pressure gauge with isolator for each metering pump.

14. Ball valves shall be furnished. Cross connection valves shall be furnished as per P&IDs. Isolation valves shall be provided at all equipment connections. Valve materials shall match adjacent piping material.

15. An adjustable (0 – 150 psi) external pressure relief valve shall be installed on the pump discharge header set as recommended by pump manufacturer. The relief shall discharge to pump suction header.

16. A gas charged pulsation dampener shall be provided and sized for a minimum of 90% dampening. Pulsation dampener shall include gas charge fitting and pressure gauge. The dampener shall be installed in the discharge piping of each metering pump, as close to the metering pump discharge check valve as possible. All materials shall be compatible with hydrofluorosilicic acid (23% percent solution).

17. A back pressure valve shall be provided in the discharge piping of each metering pump to provide a constant back pressure at the chemical metering pump discharge. The back pressure valve shall be fully adjustable from 0 – 150 psi with body compatible with hydrofluorosilicic acid, Teflon diaphragm and have no metal parts in contact with the chemical.

18. A solenoid relief valve shall be provided in the discharge piping to allow the pump to start under a reduced head condition and expel accumulated gas. The solenoid valve shall be actuated through an adjustable time delay relay to close between 0 and 5 minutes after pump start. Valve shall be NEMA 4X solenoid actuated valve with PVC body, PTFE bellows rated for 2 million cycles, Viton FKM seals, connector indicator light to show when solenoid is energized, continuous duty Class F coil, and rated for 140 psi maximum inlet pressure and 38 psi maximum back pressure.

19. A 2-inch liquid filled gauge shall be furnished on the discharge of each pump, and shall be protected by a glycerin filled gauge protector with Teflon diaphragm. The casings of the gauge shall be 316 stainless steel and accuracy shall be 2% or better.

20. All metering pump skid electrical enclosures, connections and components shall be NEMA 4X rated.

a. The NEMA 4X FRP terminal junction box (TJB) shall be provided on the skid back panel for termination of all wiring. A power outlet with in-use weatherproof cover shall be provided for any metering pumps, or accessories that require an outlet. The outlet(s) shall be factory

wired to the TJB in non-metallic flexible conduit and be fed from the protected side of the AC surge arrestor. All signal and control cables shall be neatly ran to the TJB and terminated using NEMA 4X cable grips and landed to terminals for field connections. For all devices with multiple cables, the cables shall be bundled in a single protective nylon overbraid. The inside cover of the terminal box shall include a wiring diagram detailing the function of all terminals. A power disconnect switch or breaker shall be provided in the terminal junction box. Surge protection shall be provided locally in the skid mounted terminal junction box. Protection shall be provided for the main power supply as well as all analog input and output signals. Surge protection devices shall be as manufactured by EDCO Inc. of Florida. The NEMA 4X TJB shall provide the following I/O at a minimum:

Terminals for 120VAC power (local heavy duty surge protection included).

15A Breaker for Main AC Power.

HOA Selector Switch for each pump.

DI = Remote On/Off for each pump.

AI = Remote Speed Reference for each pump (local surge protection included)

DO = Run Status for each pump

DO = Remote Status for each pump

DO = Fault Status for each pump

21. A spare parts and maintenance kit shall be supplied for the metering pumps and skid.

22. Skids shall be manufactured by Blue Planet Environmental Systems, Lutz-Jesco America or Guardian Equipment without exception.

C. Spare Parts

1. Provide the following spare parts to the OWNER for each chemical metering skid upon delivery of the pump skid. Spare parts shall include all parts required for (2) years of normal maintenance of all components of the chemical metering system. All parts shall be in one box labeled with the Skid ID Information:

a. (1) maintenance kit for each chemical metering pump. Maintenance kits shall include but not be limited to diaphragm, check valve seats, gaskets and o-rings.

b. (3) maintenance kits total for a pressure relief valve. c. (3) maintenance kits total for a back pressure valve.

2.03 HYDROFLUOROSILICIC ACID FEED PIPING

A. Suction Piping and Accessories:

1. Suction piping and fittings shall be Schedule 80 PVC, NSF approved for hydroflourosilicic acid in accordance with the Specifications.

2. Calibration column shall be a 1000 mL clear PVC calibration column with a 3/4” threaded base and a removable top.

3. Valves shall be Schedule 80 PVC solvent welded, socket end, double-union, vented ball valves with Viton O-rings, PTFE seats, and Viton backing cushions, Type 21 by Asahi-America or approved equal.

B. Discharge Piping and Accessories

1. Discharge piping and fittings shall be Schedule 80 PVC, NSF approved for hydroflourosilicic acid solution in accordance with the Specifications.

2. Valves shall be Schedule 80 PVC solvent welded, socket end, double-union, vented ball valves with Viton O-rings, PTFE seats, and Viton backing cushions, Type 21 by Asahi-America or approved equal.

C. Fastening System

1. A non-corrosive vinyl ester and PVC fastening system shall be used to secure hydroflourosilicic acid solution piping and tubing to the skids.

D. Expansion Joints for Fluoride Service

1. Expansion joints shall be of the molded bellows design with 5 convolutions manufactured of PTFE fluorocarbon conforming to ASTM D1457.

2. Flanges and T-bands of Pureflex Durcor-62 shall be provided. Bolts, nuts, and washers shall be titanium. Limit cables of 30355 and spray shield shall be provided.

3. Expansion joints shall be Flexi-Joint 4 FIBA 5 S1 with spray shield, or equal approved by Engineer.

E. QUICK CONNECTS

1. Quick connects shall be provided as indicated on the drawings. Quick connects shall be cam lock type as manufactured by Banjo or approved equal. Quick connects shall be made from polypropylene. All quick connects shall be

provided with cap and chain. Cap material shall match quick connect. Chain material shall be 316 stainless steel.

2.04 EMERGENCY EYEWASH/SHOWER

A. Furnish and install stainless steel combination emergency shower and eyewash as shown on the drawings.

1. Emergency shower and eyewash shall be HAWS Model 8330 or approved equal and flow switch.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 INSPECTION

A. Inspect all equipment immediately upon delivery to site. All surfaces shall be smooth, free of voids and porosity, without dry spots, crazes or unreinforced areas. If damaged, notify OWNER’S representative and manufacturer at once.

B. Do not install damaged equipment until repairs are made in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions and approved by the OWNER’S representative. Only minor repair work shall be permitted in the field. All other damaged items shall be sent to factory for repair or replacement.

3.02 INSTALLATION

A. Install equipment in conformance with manufacturer's instructions.

B. Metering pumps and stand shall be secured in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

C. Support piping independent of pump.

D. Pump installations shall include furnishing and applying an initial supply of any lubricants recommended by the manufacturer.

E. Make all electrical connections in conformance with the requirements of Division 16, Electrical.

F. Metering Pump Manufacturers Field Services:

1. Retain factory trained representatives of the metering pump manufacturer with demonstrated ability and experience in the installation and operation of the metering pumps to perform services per 1.02.C. above.

3.03 START-UP, TESTING, AND INSTRUCTION

A. Make adjustments necessary to place equipment in optimum operating condition.

B. Test the hydrofluorosilicic acid feed system for proper operation in the presence of the OWNER’S representative.

C. Furnish all testing equipment and devices required.

D. If the hydrofluorosilicic acid feed system fails to meet any of the specified performance requirements, CONTRACTOR shall modify and/or replace defective equipment until it meets specified requirements. Re-test system to verify satisfactory operation.

E. Demonstrate and document accuracy and calibration of each metering pump using job supplied calibration chamber.

3.04 TRAINING

A. In addition to the startup services, the System Supplier shall provide one (1) full day of operation training for the metering pumps and skids once on site testing is completed. Refer to Section 01010 Summary of Project, for additional training requirements.
