WPHS Any person entering the show cattle yards has a WPHS obligation to sign a statement that they are aware of the Mackay Show WPHS guidelines. These guidelines will be emailed prior to show and will be available at the yards.

Nominations Nominations close with preferred Agent (Dawson Auctions or Landmark) by COB Monday 10th June 2019. Tag numbers and waybill information (sex, HGP, time on grain) to accompany nominations. Nomination forms found on pages 13 and 15 of this schedule. Note that Class 6 is restricted to one entry per PIC. All other classes are restricted to two entries per PIC unless other brands operate off that PIC. In the event of nominations exceeding show yard or Borthwicks capacity, Stewards will conduct a draw to manage numbers. Entry Fee $10 per head unless otherwise stated, (includes feed, water & insurance costs) will be deducted from sales proceeds. Led Steer entry fee is $20 per head. Fees should accompany nomination form to be lodged at the Mackay Show Office by COB Monday 14th June. Delivery of Exhibits The Association, its members, officials, employees and authorised assistants do not accept responsibility for any mis-delivery of, damage to, loss of, detention of, conversion of, or non-delivery of any exhibits howsoever occurring. Insurance In the event of a potential claim resulting from damages involving livestock exhibited by the owner or appointed agent, all exhibitors and/or their appointed representatives are reminded that no form of admission of liability is to be acknowledged. All complaints, together with a signed witness statement, must be reported directly to the Secretary/Manager, Mackay and District A.P. & I. Association Incorporated. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to furnish his/her Australian Business Number under the provisions dictated by the Pay as You Go (P.A.Y.G.) rules. Workplace Health & Safety Any person entering the show cattle yards has a WPHS obligation to sign a statement that they are aware of the Mackay Show WPHS guidelines. These guidelines will be emailed prior to show and will also be available on site during the show.

Exhibitors taking electrical equipment on to the showgrounds must ensure that such equipment is fitted with earth leakage circuit breakers and that all electrical leads, tools and appliances have been inspected and tagged by a licensed electrical contractor. This is a requirement of the Workplace Health and Safety Act (1989) to enhance the safety of exhibitors and the public. The Act imposes severe penalties in the event of non-compliance. Any exhibitor who fails to comply will not be allowed to exhibit at the Mackay Regional Show. Exhibitors should check all electrical equipment and leads before coming to the show grounds to avoid the occurrence of any difficulties. SUB SECTION A – BEEF CATTLE (HOOF)

Regulations

1. Cattle must be polled or completely dehorned with no sign of horn.

2. Cattle must be delivered to the showgrounds no later than 12 noon Monday 17th June 2019.

3. Cattle must be NLIS compliant before arrival at the showgrounds. A reading fee of $2.50 per head will be deducted from sales accounts.

4. Separate waybills, health papers, including National Vender Declarations are required for hoof & carcase cattle. (Do not include Hoof cattle on Carcase cattle paperwork or Carcase Cattle on Hoof paperwork).

5. Cattle should be free of ticks but exhibitors should adhere to recommended withholding periods.

6. All cattle must be mouthed and colour tagged, where possible, prior to the show. Mouthing can commence on Monday 20th May 2019 and should be finalised by Monday 10th June 2019. (Where other than committee members do the mouthing, a signed certificate showing the date of mouthing should accompany the cattle). Committee members may conduct spot checks.

7. Handling of cattle after unloading at the showgrounds will be at the discretion of Beef Cattle Committee Stewards. Cattle will be weighed and paint branded after unloading in order of arrival provided the owner, a representative or adequate instruction is available for cataloging.

8. Cattle must be nominated to a class prior to release from the crush.

9. Stewards have the power to transfer entries to appropriate classes.

10. Judging will be based on market suitability, conformation, finish and optimum weight for age except for class 30.

11. The Beef Cattle Committee will feed and water all cattle for the duration of the show after which time the feeding of the cattle becomes the responsibility of the owner.

12. The decision of the Beef Cattle Committee is final in all matters relating to the conduct of the section.

13. All stock, except those entered in Class 33, MUST be offered for auction.

PASTURE FED CATTLE

Classes 1 – 14 are intended for cattle free ranging on pasture or crop. They are not open to cattle which have had access to grain in their preparation.

7. Severely bruised carcasses will not be eligible for a prize, but will be appraised as for unbruised carcasses

8. Entry fees, and feeding and watering charges will be deducted from exhibitor’s accounts by respective agents and paid to the Mackay and District A. P. & I. Association Inc., after the Show

Meat Standards Australia Eating Quality Index Each carcase will be appraised for eating quality in line with MSA appraisal and points allocated as shown. Saleable meat yield and presentation remain important considerations. Note that MSA is an accredited and audited delivery, processing and grading process. This is not required to enter this competition. The aim is to provide feedback on the eating quality of your product under your current management, delivery and processing structure. The aim is to provide information so that you can assess any opportunity to pursue higher value markets. Borthwicks in now an MSA accredited abattoir.
