How this guide was made?
We are a bunch of friends who live in Paris and like to travel a lot.We think it is important that people coming to Paris experience
something different.
Thats why each of us chose one or two of the spots you will
discover. We really hope you will like them
Nota bene: We arent linked in any commercial way to the spots we suggest (no affiliate commission)

1. Street Art area
Why should you go there ?
The spot is a really colorful street close to Belleville
subway station.
It hosts more and more graffitis every year. And now
the whole street is almost fully covered. The first
graphs were made by the squatters that used to live in
the area.
A funny thing about this street is that there are somany people who want to paint there that the graffitis
are always changing, the new ones covering the old
ones.
Some artists even come really often to make sure their
graffitis are still there, painting them again if they have
been covered.
Extra Tip:
During summer time, you can also have a drink at one
of the 2 bars at the entrance of the street, mixing up
with the hipsters from Paris.

2. Paris High Line
Why should you go there ?
This is a really nice walk 5km through Paris. It takes
about 1 hour to go all the way. It starts at Place de la
Bastille and ends just outside Paris.
It used to be a train line that stopped operating in
1969. The last station was just next to where the Opera
stands today.
If you take the full walk you will: walk on the Viaducdes Artswhich is a red brick bridge, cross a nice park
called the Jardin de Reuilly, go under a funny
tunnel
Check the pictures on the next page, you will love for
sure !
Extra Tip:If you come using the subway you can get a free map
of the coulee verte (which is the French word for
High Line) to guide you through the walk.

3. Amazing Food Market
Why should you go there ?
If you like food, this market is heaven. You can either
buy fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, fish to prepare your
own meal home or enjoy a nice lunch there.
It is the oldest covered market in Paris, but is really
unknown compared to other markets (bon marche,
etc). Also it used to be an orphenage, this is why it is
called Red Children Market as red is the color of
charity.
You will see lots of small different shops with food
from everywhere: Morocco, Caribbean, Japan,
Lebanonand many others.
Extra Tip:
Special mention to the couscous !Be aware that the market is open for lunch only and is
closed on mondays.

4. Perfect Wine Shop
Why should you go there ?
One of the best independent houses for wines in Paris.
They buy their wines directly from the producers and
not from wholesale which is really rare.
It has a cozy atmosphere, lots of good wines for every
budget and great sales people who can help you find
the perfect wine for the day.
On the other side of the shop, there is a small wine bar
where you can taste wine and eat some French tapas,
extremely recommended.
Extra Tip:
You can enter on the other side of the shop if you go
inside Galerie Vivienne. It is a really nice indoor
corridor with many shops.

5. French Auction Sales
Why should you go there ?
This place has been operating for more than two
hundred years, performing auction sales everyday
from Monday to Saturday, especially between 2pm and
6pm.
It sells lots of different things. Just go into one of the
16 auction rooms to attend the live sale which is a real
show. Depending on the people organizing the sale,
you can be up for a real show. The advice is to check
almost every room to see where people yell the
loudest.
It is also good place to check the products some French
art and furniture in a way that is different to all the
museums in Paris.
Extra Tip:
Grab a leaflet at the entrance of each room to check
the prices ;-)

6. Historic Theater
Why should you go there ?
It is just amazing to find a place like this in Paris. This
spot is a small cinema housed in a pagoda.
It was originally constructed as a gift for the wife of
the owner of Le Bon Marche in 1896, but became a
cinema in 1931.
The style of the house is really special, a mix between
asian style outside and traditionnal French inside. You
should wander in the japanese garden outside and
watch a movie inside.
Nowadays, there is one cinema room playing French
movies. Sometimes movies are in English, so you
should check it out.

Extra Tip:
If you dontwant to watch a movie, you can also come
during the afternoon to drink some tea in the garden.

7. Panoramic view of Paris
Why should you go there ?
You will be amazed by the view you have from the top
of the Galeries Lafayette. So many people go shopping
there, but only a few of them know there is so much
more to see. It is one of the best view of Paris and it is
free ! Nothing blocking the view like on top of the Eiffel
tower for instance.
To go there, just take the lift to the top floor and look
for the snack / restaurant called La Terrasse .
Too bad it is closed in the evening because the night
view is also amazing.
Extra Tip:
You can have lunch on the roof, it is not too expansive.
But if you do, dontforget a hat and your sunglasses!

8. Bobo Secret Bar
Why should you go there ?
A great bar with a total bobo atmosphere (the
French Hipsters). It is actually more like a museum /
bar with a ghetto spirit. It is pretty hard to describe but
really worth checking out.
There is no sign at the entrance saying the bar is there,
so look at the map and the pictures on the next page.
Parisians will go there early in the evening to have a
drink with their friends. If you go on Fridays or
Saturdays be ready to queue after 7pm.
Extra Tip:
Make sure you try the Secousse cocktail: vodka,
cucumber, passion fruit, bissap juice. It is delicious.

9. Boating in Boulogne
Why should you go there ?
During spring or summer, great if you want to escape
from the city for a while. Grab a boat (10 for one
hour, 6for half an hour) and wander around the small
lake. You can be up to 5 people per boat.
There is also a nice island on the middle of the lake.
You can also come on early fall where the colors are
amazing.
Extra Tip:
You can stop on the island at lechalet des ilesif you
want. It is a bit costly but really nice. Also they throw
huge parties on the week-ends during summer.

10. Water Locks
Why should you go there ?
The canal is about 5 km long and crosses all the north
of Paris to go to the Seine river. Lots of boats navigate
through the canal so the locks and bridges are often in
motion.
It is really fun to see the bridges turn and the Parisians
honking because they dontlike to wait.
After republique, the canal even goes underwater for a
while.
Extra Tip:
During summer it is really relaxing to sit down next to
the canal and chill with friends listening to some street
music and drinking wine.
