SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT March 12, 2017

Queridos Amigos,

Que maravilloso que otra vez estamos juntos en esta Hermosa

temporada de la Cuaresma, caminando juntos en esta jornada

que nos lleva a la Pascua.

Algunas cosas rapidito:

1) No olvide que, si usted trae a la oficina parroquial durante nuestro horario normal una foto ACTUAL de sí mismo con su nombre claramente escrito en el frente de la misma foto, le daré un crucifijo bendecido por el Papa Francisco! Están fabulosos porque son exactamente iguales que el Crucifijo que él mismo lleva. ¡Dese prisa mientras duren, así que a conseguir su Crucifijo! Esto es muy útil también para mí porque quiero aprender y conocer el nombre de cada uno de ustedes; me están ayudando a ser un mejor sacerdote.

2) Estamos cambiando la hora de la Misa de la tarde del sábado en español de 5:30 a 6:00 PM. Todo seguirá exactamente igual que antes, excepto que la Misa comenzará ahora a las 6:00 PM. Dos razones para el cambio. La razón principal es ayudar a las personas que trabajan y que trabajan más lejos para que puedan asistir. En Clovis ya hay una Misa en ingles los sábados a 5:00PM, y así, en esta manera, podemos tener un poco más variedad, para servir mejor a toda la comunidad. Tal vez algunas personas no pueden llegar a tiempo a la Misa de las 5:00PM en NSG y una hora extra les ayudaría a asistir a Misa.

3) A medida que continuamos sirviendo e integrando el ministerio hispano en nuestra parroquia, me gustaría considerar la posibilidad de tener una de nuestras Misas diarias también en español. Posiblemente el martes. Por favor, hágamelo saber lo que piensan acerca de esto, y si hay interés en tener una Misa diaria en español el martes, a qué hora (puede ser en cualquier hora que funciona mejor y no tiene que ser a las 7:00 AM). Una vez más, esto depende del interés de ustedes.

4) Por favor, siga viniendo al Vía Crucis todos los viernes a las 6:15pm y a la comida familiar de la Cuaresma! La comida es gratuita pero las donaciones ayudan a permitirnos seguir haciendo este tipo de actividades parroquiales.

Dear Friends,

So wonderful to be all together in this beautiful time of Lent, journeying together towards Easter.

A few quick things:

1) Don’t forget that if you bring to the parish office during our normal business hours a CURRENT picture of yourself with your name clearly written on the front of the same picture, I will give you a crucifix blessed by Pope Francis! They are really cool because they are the exact same as the crucifix he himself wears. While supplies last, so hurry and get those in! This is very helpful to me because I want to learn and know everybody’s name; you are helping me to be a better priest.

2) We are changing the time of our Saturday evening Spanish Mass from 5:30 to 6pm. Everything will continue exactly as before, except that the Mass will be and will start now at 6pm. Two reasons for this. The main reason is to help people who work and who work farther away to be able to come. Also there is here in Clovis a Saturday evening English Mass at 5pm at OLG, thus too by having a little more variety we hope to better be able to serve the whole broader community. Maybe people can’t make it to the 5pm Mass and the extra hour would help and enable them to attend Mass.

3) As we continue to be able to serve and integrate Spanish-speaking ministry in our parish, I would like to consider the possibility of having one of our daily Masses also in Spanish. Possibly Tuesday. Please let me know what people think about this, and if there is interest in having a Spanish daily Mass on Tuesday, at what time (it could be at any time that works best, and does not have to be at 7am). Again, this depends on interest .

4) Please keep coming to our Stations of the Cross every Friday at 6:15pm and Lenten family meal afterwards! The meal is free but any donations help to enable us to continue doing these sorts of parish activities.

Lectura del Evangelio de la Próxima Semana

JOHN 4:5-15, 19B-26, 39A, 40-42

En aquel tiempo, llegó Jesús a un pueblo de Samaria, llamado Sicar,

cerca del campo que dio Jacob a su hijo José. Ahí estaba el pozo de

Jacob. Jesús, que venía cansado del camino, se sentó sin más en el

brocal del pozo. Era cerca del mediodía.

Entonces llegó una mujer de Samaria a sacar agua y Jesús le dijo:

"Dame de beber". (Sus discípulos habían ido al pueblo a comprar

comida). La samaritana le contestó: "¿Cómo es que tú, siendo judío,

me pides de beber a mí, que soy samaritana?" (Porque los judíos no

tratan a los samaritanos). Jesús le dijo: "Si conocieras el don de Dios y

quién es el que te pide de beber, tú le pedirías a él, y él te daría agua

viva".

La mujer le respondió: "Señor, ni siquiera tienes con qué sacar agua y

el pozo es profundo, ¿cómo vas a darme agua viva? ¿Acaso eres tú más

que nuestro padre Jacob, que nos dio este pozo, del que bebieron él,

sus hijos y sus ganados?" Jesús le contestó: "El que bebe de esta agua

vuelve a tener sed. Pero el que beba del agua que yo le daré, nunca

más tendrá sed; el agua que yo le daré se convertirá dentro de él en un

manantial capaz de dar la vida eterna".

La mujer le dijo: "Señor, dame de esa agua para que no vuelva a tener

sed ni tenga que venir hasta aquí a sacarla. Ya veo que eres profeta.

Nuestros padres dieron culto en este monte y ustedes dicen que el

sitio donde se debe dar culto está en Jerusalén".

Jesús le dijo: "Créeme, mujer, que se acerca la hora en que ni en este

monte ni en Jerusalén adorarán al Padre. Ustedes adoran lo que no

conocen; nosotros adoramos lo que conocemos. Porque la salvación

viene de los judíos. Pero se acerca la hora, y ya está aquí, en que los

que quieran dar culto verdadero adorarán al Padre en espíritu y en

verdad, porque así es como el Padre quiere que se le dé culto. Dios es

espíritu, y los que lo adoran deben hacerlo en espíritu y en verdad".

La mujer le dijo: "Ya sé que va a venir el Mesías (es decir, Cristo).

Cuando venga, él nos dará razón de todo". Jesús le dijo: "Soy yo, el que

habla contigo".

Muchos samaritanos de aquel poblado creyeron en Jesús por el

testimonio de la mujer: 'Me dijo todo lo que he hecho'. Cuando los

samaritanos llegaron a donde él estaba, le rogaban que se quedara con

ellos, y se quedó allí dos días. Muchos más creyeron en él al oír su

palabra. Y decían a la mujer: "Ya no creemos por lo que tú nos has

contado, pues nosotros mismos lo hemos oído y sabemos que él es, de

veras, el Salvador del mundo".

Jesus came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of land that

Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob's well was there. Jesus, tired from

his journey, sat down there at the well.

It was about noon.

A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her,

"Give me a drink." His disciples had gone into the town to buy food. The

Samaritan woman said to him, "How can you, a Jew, ask me, a Samaritan

woman, for a drink?"—For Jews use nothing in common with Samaritans.

— Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God and who is

saying to you, 'Give me a drink, ' you would have asked him and he would

have given you living water." The woman said to him, "Sir, you do not

even have a bucket and the cistern is deep; where then can you get this

living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this

cistern and drank from it himself with his children and his flocks?" Jesus

answered and said to her, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty

again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the

water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to

eternal life." The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water, so that I

may not be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.

"I can see that you are a prophet. Our ancestors worshiped on this

mountain; but you people say that the place to worship is in Jerusalem."

Jesus said to her, "Believe me, woman, the hour is coming when you will

worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You people

worship what you do not understand; we worship what we

understand, because salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming,

and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit

and truth; and indeed the Father seeks such people to worship him. God

is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and truth."

The woman said to him, "I know that the Messiah is coming, the one

called the Christ; when he comes, he will tell us everything." Jesus said to

her, "I am he, the one who is speaking with you."

Many of the Samaritans of that town began to believe in him.

When the Samaritans came to him, they invited him to stay with

them; and he stayed there two days. Many more began to believe in him

because of his word,

and they said to the woman,

"We no longer believe because of your word;

for we have heard for ourselves,

and we know that this is truly the savior of the world."

Ministro Eucarístico, y Lectores, y otros voluntarios que necesitamos Todavía estamos muy seriamente necesitados de ministros eucarísticos para nuestra Misa en español. Por favor, las mismas personas tienen que hacerlo cada semana. Por favor ofrézcase de voluntario. No es difícil y no toma extra de su tiempo para poder hacer este increíble ministerio. Por favor llame a la oficina de la parroquia al 575-763-6947 y deje su nombre y número para que sea entrenado y lo pongamos en el horario. También, necesitamos personas que quieren ser voluntarios para rezar el Santo Rosario antes de la Misa y buscamos mas lectores y monaguíos y sacristanes. Por favor, queremos continuar sirviendo nuestra comunidad hispana pero necesitamos tu ayuda. Todos pueden participar mas y ayudar. Por favor, no les dejen toda la carga a unos cuantos u otros.

Clases de bautismo Estamos muy contentos de celebrar los bautismos aquí en español. Para bautizar aquí tienes que 1) obtener y llenar los papeles, notando que la forma para los padrinos debe ser firmada por su propio párroco. 2) asistir a la clase de bautismo que tenemos aquí en español el último sábado de cada mes a la 1pm. Así que el próximo será el sábado, 25 de marzo a la 1pm aquí dentro de la escuela en el salón 1. 3) Llamar a la oficina, 575-763-6947, para hacer una cita con el Padre Simón o el Diácono Juan. The food pantry operates every Saturday of the month. Anyone

interested in volunteering, please come at 8:30 am!

We are also very much in need of volunteers every Friday

morning to help prepare for the food pantry on Saturday.

This is a truly beautiful ministry, an essential part of living the

Gospel and really helping many in need here in our community.

The Food pantry helps literally hundreds of families in this area.

The Food Pantry is currently in need of the following items:

Cereal, Peanut Butter, Mac-n-Chees, Granola Bars, Oatmeal.
