SALT & LIGHT MINISTRY NEWS SALT & LIGHT MINISTRY MEETING
Tuesday, March 1 at 7 pm in the Parish House HUNGERING TO GIVE BACK
This week, CRS Rice Bowl takes us to Laos, where Hongkham is using her love of cooking to provide for her family—and feed an entire school. How do we use our passions and gifts for the betterment of those we meet? Don’t forget to pick up your Rice Bowl as you leave church this week if you have not already done so. Visit crsricebowl.org for more information.
UPDATE FROM EIGHT 4 WORLD HOPE Eight 4 World Hope’s annual Wine & Dine event will be held April 2nd from 6-9 pm, Cleary Auditorium at St. John Fisher College in the Kearney Building. This year three of the teachers from Davis Primary School (our current project) will be there to share what your gift of new classrooms has meant to them, their students and the whole community of Old Harbor Jamaica. Tickets can be purchased online at www.eight4worldhope.org and are $50 in advance (or $60 at the door). Also, Eight 4 World Hope will be going to Jamaica May 23rd-27th to visit our projects as well as serve the poor and voiceless. Come see for yourself what your donations have done and the lives you’ve touched. Come with an open heart and see what God has done through you. Contact Deacon Kevin Carges at [email protected] for details.
CLIMATE CHANGE GROUP Remember, as you replace those incandescent light bulbs with LED or CFL ones, put a small star sticker on our big STAR located in the back of each church!

FAITH FORMATION CLASSES
No classes this week. Regular classes will resume next week.
NEW MASS-TIME ACTIVITY BAGS Due to lack of interest in our former Children’s Liturgy
program, we discontinued this ministry last fall. Now we have a
new alternative for “little ones” who attend Sunday Mass. In the back of each church, you will find brightly colored canvas bags
with the words “Mass Time” written on them. Inside there’s a child’s bulletin, Bible fun pad, children’s missal, crayons, markers,
pencils, rosary, etc. and a lap desk or clipboard. Please feel free
to pick one up for your child to use during Mass and then return after Mass. Materials will be updated weekly. If the demand is
greater, we have additional bags that we will prepare and put in each church. Please share any feedback you have on these bags
by calling the Parish Office or leaving a note in the bag.
JOURNEY TO EASTER
The Catholic Courier is presenting an online Lenten calendar
similar to the one they presented for Advent. It began on Feb. 9th and will continue throughout Lent. On it you will find multimedia
resources for Lent including reflections and Gospel readings, videos at www.catholiccourier.com/easterjourney.
FAMILY MINI BIBLE STUDY Through March 13th, all Faith Formation classes will gather in
St. Dominic’s Church for dismissal of their classes at 7:15 pm. We will reflect on Biblical readings from Creation through the
Resurrection. Anyone in the parish is welcome to join us for these
brief 15-minute sessions. Because there are no classes, there will be no session TODAY, Feb. 21st.
Family Corned beef & cabbage Dinner
Saturday, Mar. 12th, 5 pm in St. Dominic Parish Center Plan to come to this wonderful annual parish-wide event!
Everyone is invited; young & old, singles & families, men & women.
We would love to fill the Parish Center. Just bring a dish-to-pass & come enjoy a pre-St. Patty’s Day feast! Corned Beef & Cabbage
and beverages will be provided. If you would like to attend, please sign-up with your name and the number of people you will be
bringing with you on the sign up sheet in the back of church.
LENTEN CROSS CONTEST
It’s time to start planning your entry for our annual Lenten
Cross Contest. Any one or group of people may submit an entry. All entries must be no less than 12 inches; no more than 18
inches and be constructed of recycled materials you have laying around your house. No new items should be purchased. Entries
must be submitted to a catechist or Sherry Brown no later than
March 13th. Voting will take place at our annual Seder Supper on March 16th and winners will be announced on Palm Sunday. (time
& place TBD). Prizes will be given for First, Second, and Third places as well as participation certificates.
40 BAGS IN 40 DAYS
Tired of doing the same ol’ sacrifice for Lent? Why not try the 40 bags in 40 days challenge? We all have too much “stuff” around
our homes/garages. The Bible specifically asks us not to be attached to our Earthly possessions. So each day during Lent take
any size bag and “declutter” one small area of your surroundings. Maybe the top of your desk, your “junk” drawer, the mismatched
sock pile, one book shelf, etc. Fill the bag and recycle, donate, or
throw away. Great idea for kids to get involved as well. For support and suggestions check out www.catholicicing.com.
