People knew over a year in advance that the Pope was coming for a visit to America and the preparations began. Security, space limitations and requirements, protocols, crowd management, itineraries, invi-tations, regulations, and so much more was necessary to

pull this event off effectively. It’s not every day that we get a visit from such a prominent dignitary. Thought, effort, meticulous attention to detail and vision all are necessary to make this thing work. After all, he can’t just show up in the ordinary and normal daily routines of life and catch people unprepared! Tickets have to be purchased, buses rented, hotel rooms reserved, and travel arrangements made early because it will be impossible to see him if we wait too long! We do this kind of preparing not only for prominent religious figures but for political dignitaries, notable sports figures, peo-ple of fame, and even actors. If an individual intrigues us, we are going to want to do all we have to do to get a “good seat” in the house. Does Jesus Christ captivate this much of our attention? We are asked to prepare the way of the Lord and to do so not with frantic frenzy but patient enthusiasm. We do not have to stand on a street corner making profound announcements about God’s coming or become overly zealous in our embrace of the Good News. Our task is quieter, more interior, captivating, and consuming. We are asked to change. We have to conduct our lives with holy devotion. Is the cost of that ticket too much for you? Don’t you want the “best seat” in the house? You don’t want to miss Our Lord’s arrival when he comes, do you? After all, if he comes while you are going about your daily routines without you even knowing, he may catch you off guard. Or, he may come in disguise looking like a beggar, a prisoner, migrant, refugee, or someone who is lost. Would you be ready to recognize him then? Preparing for the coming of Christ requires a change of mind, heart, and be-havior. It is not adequate to simply do the things we always do. We want our lives to speak of the exciting news of Christ’s com-ing and the joy that the Gospel brings. It has to do with our de-meanor, values, priorities, choices, and how we structure daily routines. Of course, it involves sacrifice. All anticipations do! Are you excited, captivated, enthusiastic, and sitting on the edge of your seat eager to celebrate his coming among us at Christ-mas, and waiting for him to come again? If not, why not?

PRAYING WITH YOU If you experience the loss of a loved one, we want to pray with you as a community of faith. Contact Belinda at 402-564-7151.

PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Sign up to be a temporary sub or find a friend to rotate with you! Adorers needed: Saturday: Evening 7-8 pm (2nd & 4th Saturday) Sunday: Morning 2-3 am, 3-4 am (All Once a Month) Wednesday: Morning 1-2 am (Every Other Week) Wednesday: Afternoon 2-3 pm (Except the 3rd Wed.) Friday: Morning 1-2 am (Every Other Week) Friday: Night 9-10 pm (Even Months) & 10-11 pm (Odd Months) Co-Captains needed: Sunday, Wednesday, Friday (All 6am-6pm) Call Joan Jahn — 402-910-0958 (Please leave a message.) We must beg for good adorers; the Blessed Sacrament needs them

to replace St. Joseph and to imitate his life of adoration. – St. Peter Julian

ROSARY LEADER NEEDED We are looking for volunteers to lead the rosary before Mass once a month. Help is needed at the 8:30 AM, 10:30AM and one more person for 5 P.M. Mass. Contact Linda with questions or to

volunteer: 402-564-7151 or [email protected].

MASS INTENTIONS The 2021 Mass book is open! Parishioners are able to schedule up to 3 Mass intentions (up to 2 weekend Masses). Non-parishioners can schedule 1 Mass. Inten-tions must be made in person at the rectory and cannot be taken over the phone. Mass offered for an intention is of great value, even if you are not able to be physically present for the Mass. Additional intentions can be given as memorials or submit-ted to be sent to the retired priests in the Archdiocese.

ADORERS NEEDED We are in desperate need of adorers so that Jesus is not left unattended. Our parish has had Perpetual Adoration since 1961. We need to continue our beautiful tradition. Covid-19 has made our adorers fearful and many are making the choice not to come to attend Jesus. The Scotus chapel is safe, clean and you are easily

able to social distance as there are very few or limited attend-ance. Please consider taking an hour to be with Jesus. If you cannot take an hour would you consider being a substitute ador-er? We promise it will change your life and bring you closer to Our Lord. If you want to visit Jesus, He is always in the church (doors are unlocked between 6:00am - 7:00pm) but only exposed perpetually in the Scotus Chapel.

NEW LITURGICAL YEAR Our new Breaking Bread missalettes are availa-ble. If your household would like to request a copy, please call the church office at 402-564-7151 or email [email protected]. You will be respon-sible for keeping your book, bringing it to Mass and taking it home again!

AROUND THE AREA

SCHOOL NEWS!!! 1. In order to help prepare our students for Christmas, students will attend Confession on Dec. 9 or 10. The Student Council will also be purchasing gifts in sup-

port of those on the Giving Tree. Money for this project was raised in November. In our classrooms, teachers will be teaching the meaning of Advent and will be incorporating other prayer opportunities. And, as we do each day, we will continue to start out our school day praying a decade of the rosary. Come, Lord Jesus! 2. Did you know that by purchasing scrip, you are helping to keep our school budget down? The profits from our scrip program help to offset the school (and parish) budget because we use srip prof-its to purchase needed items for our school that do not have to be put into the school (and parish) annual budget. For example, for the past two years, we have had to pay for our internet services (roughly $4,000/year). Scrip profits are paying for this ex-pense! Scrip profits also help pay for consumable textbooks that we purchase each year. Again, these costs are not reflected in our budget. Thank you to all of you who support this important fund-raiser!!
