Meditation on today’s readings:

"Comfort, give comfort to My people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem."

Isaiah 40:1-2

This Christmas, the Lord wants us to have a special "encounter" with Him. He wants our relationship with Him to be greater than any other love in our life. He will make our relationship with Him so deep, personal, and intimate that He will be a Source of comfort for us even in our worst sufferings (see Is 40:1-2; Ps 94:19). The Lord wants a tender relationship with us (see Is 40:2). He even lives in us and us in Him (Jn 14:20; 17:23, NAB). The depth and the intimacy of our relationship with the Lord is such that we can receive even His Body and Blood into our bodies. We receive this deep, personal, intimate relationship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit. For example, Jesus' disciples spent day after day with Jesus for years, but they never had a deep relationship. This was manifested when they abandoned Christ as He was crucified. However, when the Holy Spirit descended upon them at Pentecost, they became so close to Jesus that they gave their lives to Him, proclaimed His love to the nations, and even died for Him. Therefore, let us pray: Come, Holy Spirit! Come, Christmas Spirit of comforting, tender, and deep love! Prayer: Father , let it be done to m e according to Your will (see Lk 1:38). Promise: "Make every effort to be found without stain or defilement, and at peace in His sight." (2 Pt 3:14) Praise: Jesus cam e forth from the tom b; "Truth shall spring out of the earth" (Ps 85:12). Praise You, risen Jesus, for conquering death and saving us.

Esta Navidad, el Señor quiere que tengamos un especial "encuentro" con Él. Él quiere que nuestra relación con Él sea mayor que cualquier otro amor en nuestra vida. Él hará nuestra relación con Él tan profunda, personal e íntima que será una fuente de consuelo para nosotros en nuestros peores sufrimientos (ver Is 40:1-2; Sal 94:19). El Señor quiere una relación tierna con nosotros (ver Is 40:2). Hasta vive Él en nosotros y nosotros en Él (Jn 14:20; 17:23). La profundidad y la intimidad de nuestra relación con el Señor es tal que hasta podemos recibir Su Cuerpo y Sangre en nuestro cuerpo. Recibimos esta relación profunda, íntima y personal con Jesús por medio del Espíritu Santo. Como han visto, los discípulos de Jesús pasaron día tras día con Jesús durante años, pero nunca llegaron a una relación profunda. Esto se manifestó cuando abandonaron a Cristo cuando este estuvo crucificado. Sin embargo, cuando el Espíritu Santo descendió sobre ellos en Pentecostés, se acercaron tanto a Jesús que dedicaron sus vidas a Él, proclamaron Su amor a las naciones, y hasta murieron por Él. Por lo tanto, oremos: ¡Ven, Espíritu Santo! ¡Ven, Espíritu Navideño de amor consolador, tierno y profundo! Oración: Padre, que se cumpla en mí lo que has dicho (ver Lc 1:38). Promesa: "Procuren vivir de tal manera que Él los encuentre en paz, sin mancha ni reproche" (2 Pe 3:14). Alabanza: Jesús, saliste de la tumba tal como "la Verdad brotará de la tierra" (Sal 85:12). Alabado seas, Cristo resucitado, por conquistar a la muerte y salvarnos.

Students who have made their First Communion are required to attend this service and make their Advent confession with their family. Students in Ms.Linda’s Wednesday class, in addition to any other students making their first communion in May, will be making their FIRST RECONCILIATION on that date and will have assigned seating at the back of the church.

INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK John the Baptist announced, "Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths." Does preparing a

way for the Lord have priority in our lives? Often we spend more time preparing paths for ourselves rather than a path for God. Advent calls us to take the focus off ourselves and put it on God. We prepare a path for God by practicing and living the virtues, being holy and devoted, patient and

repentant, and attentive and humble. We are asked to bring comfort and healing to people and to show others by the way we live our lives that we have a higher calling and purpose.
