From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places

through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

STEWARDSHIP & GIVING

2nd Sunday in Lent: “I am the Lord who brought you from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land as a possession.” (Genesis 15:7). Just as the Lord gave Abraham, Moses and the Israelites a land to possess, He has also given each of us a home. Whether your home is grand or humble, it is a gift from God. Abraham prepared a great sacrifice to the Lord in gratitude for the home God gave him. How do you show your gratitude to God for the home He has given you? Do you make a sacrifice of any kind? Do you return any of your finances to God, investing equally in your eternal home just as you invest in your earthly home?

2nd Sunday in Lent (Cycle C)

Presider...............................Fr. Ted Cassidy, S.M. Assisting..............................Deacon Greg Cecere Liturgy Planner....................Katie Gibbs Music Director.....................Teesie Lupp Interpreter for the Deaf........Paula Fleming

Genesis 15:5-12, 17-18: In a time when few believed in an afterlife, having faith in God promised immortality. Children carried on the traditions and name of their families. They could inherit the land and possessions of their parents. God’s promises to Abraham included both descendants and the land. Throughout the ages, God’s promises to Abraham have given hope to the Hebrew people. Jews, Christians and Muslims alike consider themselves children of Abraham, heirs to the favor given to Abraham by God.

Philippians 3:17-4:1: Paul exhorts the Philippians to look to the examples of one person they know they can trust: Paul himself. Paul offers his life as an example because he knows that the Philippians need a model for proper behavior. He and his companions can be contrasted with those who are currently trying to influence the community. These latter missionaries are concerned more with personal comfort than with the higher good. Paul reminds his readers that their true home is in heaven and that this reality should be reflected in their conduct.

Luke 9:28b-36: The account of the Transfiguration is an awe-inspiring indication of the resplendent glory that belongs to Jesus as God’s unique on. It also forward to Jesus’ roles as coming judge of the living and the dead. Jesus is the beloved Son of God to all who will listen. This story of the glorification of Jesus follows Peter’s declaration of faith in Jesus as the Messiah and Jesus’ first teaching about his suffering and death. From this point on in the gospel, Jesus moves steadily toward his death.

Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us

Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

MEDITATION OF THE DAY: "I would, then, that I could convince spiritual persons that this road to God consists not in a multiplicity of meditations nor in ways or methods of such, nor in consolations, although these things may in their own way be necessary to beginners; but that it consists only in the one thing that is needful, which is the ability to deny oneself truly, according to that which is without and to that which is within, giving oneself up to suffering for Christ’s sake . . . For progress comes not save through the imitation of Christ, Who is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and no one comes to the Father but by Him." ~ St. John of the Cross

FAVORITE QUOTE: "Happiness can only be achieved by looking inward and learning to enjoy whatever life has, and this requires transforming greed into gratitude." ~ St. John Chrysostom
