GENESIS 1:3-4 NAS
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. (Is. 9:2)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4
In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the
darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:1-5)
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen—that the Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would
bring the message of light to his own people and to the Gentiles.
(Acts 26:22b-23)
The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the
world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he
gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:9-12)

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light
of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
(2 Cor. 4:6)
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves
(Col. 1:13)
You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
(1 Th. 5:5)
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (Eph. 5:8)
The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the
armor of light. (Rom. 13:12)
He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his
own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has
now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has
brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. (2 Tim. 1:9-10)
