We understand for all companies the importance of networking and face-to-face interaction at ACG mining events. However, we do realise the face-to-face interactions are restricted in the immediate future, whether it is inside or outside the context of technical conferences. The ACG continues to closely monitor the developments surrounding Covid-19 in Australia, and implications for travel. The UMT 2020 Conference will be delivered as an online event and on demand. This will enable delegates to conveniently access the latest in best practice, discuss new mining technologies and explore practical ways of implementing and expanding these new technologies to maximise their value within the underground mining environment.

This event will also be held in Perth, Western Australia, for those who are based within the state who are able to attend in person, Covid permitting.

Accommodation options can be found by visiting www.acg.uwa.edu.au/about-events-and-courses/

MONITORING THE PERFORMANCE OF UNDERGROUND EXCAVATIONS WORKSHOP2 November 2020 | Online | Perth, Western Australia

Modern underground mine infrastructures are generally built to minimise the risk of accidents associated with rockfalls or production delays due to excessive tunnel deformation. Strategic mine design, conservative ground support and proactive monitoring are the main tools to achieve this goal. The performance of underground excavations is adequate when it remains safe and serviceable for its entire intended life, without unplanned rehabilitation and maintenance. This workshop will explore how current and emerging technologies are employed in the global mining industry to monitor underground excavations and provide the vital feedback loop to ensure they remain safe and serviceable. This workshop will be run alongside the UMT 2020 Conference as a hybrid online and physical event, pending Covid-19 restrictions. Please note, this a live event only and will NOT be available on-demand, post-event.
