Second Annual Pathology Research Days In conjunction with the Edge of Science and Medicine Visiting Speaker Series The Second Annual Pathology Research Days was held on June 21st and 22nd, 2017 in the Joe Doupe Concourse and Theatre B at the Bannatyne Campus, University of Manitoba. Pathologists, Residents, Graduate students and guests shared research and networked at the two day event. The event began with a Scientific Poster competition on June 21st, with posters from residents, graduate students, and faculty. The residents and graduate students posters were judged by a committee comprised of Drs Marc Del Bigio, Michael Mengel, Julianne Klein and Dennis Rhee, who were assessing for Best Poster Presentation and Best Case Report. The June 22nd was opened by Dr. Gabor Fischer, Department Head, Pathology. Oral Presentations were made by faculty, residents and graduate student with the graduate student and residents’ presentations being judged by the committee for Best Oral Presentation. The Department also hosted Dr. Michael Mengel from the University of Alberta as part of the Edge of Science and Medicine Visiting Speaker series on June 22nd. Dr. Mengel presented his talk on Precision Diagnostics in Organ Trans- plant Rejection or How to Work with an Imperfect Diagnostic Gold Standard to faculty, residents, graduate students and guests. Congratulations to the award winners: Dr. Leslie Anderson (PGY4) recognized for Best Poster Presentation: Pop Goes Pathology: How Pathologists are Portrayed in Popular Culture (pathologist supervisor: Dr. D. Rhee). Dr. Maha Haddad (PGY4) recognized for Best Case Report: Melanotic CNS lesions in the era of Genomics: A case report and review of literature (pathologist supervisor: Dr. S. Krawitz) Dr. Marc Ranson (PGY2) recognized for Best Oral Presenta- tion: Combining rapid pre-screening and FocalPoint slide profiler as a quality assurance method in gynecologic cytology (pathologist supervisor: Dr. G. Fischer). Congratulations to: Dr. Shawna Noy, awarded the 2016 Dr. Sam McMorris Memorial Fund Award Dr. Alysa Poulin, awarded the 2016-2017 Resident Recognition Award MinQi Xu, awarded the 2016 Dutkevich Memorial Trust Graduate Prize in Pathology Dr. Kelly MacDonald, awarded the 2016-2017 Award for Excellence in Resident Education and Mentorship Dr. M. Second Annual Pathology Research Days In conjunction with the Edge of Science and Medicine Visiting Speaker Series

The Second Annual Pathology Research Days was held on June 21st and 22nd, 2017 in the Joe Doupe Concourse and Theatre B at the Bannatyne Campus, University of Manitoba. Pathologists, Residents, Graduate students and guests shared research and networked at the two day event.

The event began with a Scientific Poster competition on June 21st, with posters from residents, graduate students, and faculty.
