WelcomeThe Nuclear Society of Slovenia cordially invites you to attend the traditional International conference Nuclear Energy for New Europe. This is an international annual meeting of professionals dealing with different aspects of nuclear energy from all around Europe and worldwide. The primary objective of the meeting is to foster international cooperation amongst professionals active in nuclear research and educational institutions, nuclear vendors, utilities and regulatory bodies. The leading theme of the 2009 conference is Research and Education for Sustainable Nuclear Power. Language The language of the conference will be English. No translation will be provided. Place and Time of the Meeting Grand Hotel Toplice, Bled, Slovenia. From Monday, September 14, 2009 (afternoon) to Thursday, September 17, 2009. Conference Topics 189 submitted abstracts from 29 countries were organized into the following topics:

• Reactor Physics and Research Reactors • Thermal Hydraulics • Probabilistic Safety Assessment • Severe Accidents • Nuclear Power Plant Operation • Integrity and Life Management • Emerging Reactor Designs • Nuclear Fusion • Radioactive Waste • Radiation and Environment • Education for Sustainable Nuclear Power • Public Relations • Regulatory Practice and Legislation

Contest of Young Authors An award will be given for the best paper prepared by a first author aged no more than 32 years. Nineteen (19) young authors from eight (8) countries indicated their intent to participate in the contest. The Young Authors Award Committee will review the papers and the award will be given during the Young Authors Award Ceremony at the conference dinner on Wednesday, September 16, at 20:00 (8:00 PM).
