Jin-Ah, Laurie and I went to Bank of America earlier this week to set up Jin-Ah as a signer on the bank account. The guidelines committee met twice this past month, and is making real progress on that front. We should be hearing an update from that committee today. I am very excited for the next year and am looking forward to being of service as your Area chair. In loving service, Naomi Vice Chair: Hello Family,

Thank you for entrusting me with this significant responsibility by electing me as your new Vice Chair. I do not have much to report this month. However, I will make a note that the new Chair and I attended the guidelines committee and I had the opportunity to watch the PR Subcommittee in action.

Note*: For the upcoming Quarterly Admin Meeting - I would like ALL chairs of committees and elected members of the area body keep the 1st week of March open for the quarterly meeting (TBD). This is a requirement of your positions and I ask that all of those to refine your budget needs for the next quarter to discuss and approve then.

In Loving Service,

Jin-Ah K., Vice Chair, SASC

Recording Secretary: Please submit service member reports prior to the meeting at [email protected] Assistant Recording Secretary: Position Open Treasurer: (See appendix C for full report)

1. The bank statements and ledger balances matched this month.

2. In January I went to the bank with the Chair and Vice Chair to update the signers on our bank account.

3. Yesterday I went to the ad hoc meeting to work on guideline changes to discuss changes to fund flow sections that have caused some confusion.

4. I sent Mario with SINAC a text to inform him that I transferred money from the SINAC account to the SASC account for the January storage unit. He informed me that they now have their own storage unit. Moving forward there will be a 3-way split for the storage unit between Admin, Activities and Unity Day.

5. I have a proposed a new Quarterly SASC Budget Report to the admin group via email. I have included that in my report attachments.

6. I will now read the financial statement for January 2018. I have emailed the statement out to the recording secretary, chair and vice chair for distribution with the minutes.

Activities Treasurer: I’m looking forward to the Activities Subcommittee's 1st Annual Breakthrough by the Bay Retreat. We have flyers for that event on the table and tickets are for sale. As of today, $65 for adults and $30 for youth, children 4 and under are free. That price includes 2 nights say and 5 meals. The SAASC balance today is $2,219.26. I’m requesting 3 checks today. First - $60 for Cherry hall for rent. Second - $54.27 reimbursement for printing flyers and tickets. Third - $26.00 reimbursement for the adjusted cost of the Hamlin Park reservation for the Egg Hunt. This will leave our balance at $2,078.99. Literature: Hello All – Last month we sold $1,517.45. Our order was $2,080.54. Please remember that if you only

need 1 or 2 items, you don’t need an ordr sheet, just see the literature room. In service, Gary H. Regional Committee Member (RCM 1): Verbal report given during meeting. No written report submitted to the secretary for addition to these minutes. Regional Committee Member 2 (RCM 2): Hello Family, I attended the 137th Washington North Idaho Region of Narcotics Anonymous Regional Service Committee meeting on Jan. 11th - 12th. There were 17 Areas present and 4 absent. Our Regional Delegates spent time with us on Friday doing a Literature Writing Workshop for the upcoming Spiritual Principle a Day (SPAD) book. This is a new daily meditation book similar to Just For Today, but the difference will be each day is focused on a specific spiritual principle. Our region hopes to be very involved in submitting material for this book and that Areas will hold literature writing workshops! NAWS is now taking submissions/ideas for the book. You can visit www.na.org/spad, to access the material and make a submission. We voted in a new RD team, Theo M. as RD and Kia K. as AD, and the All Subs Elections for H&I, Activities, and IT Chairs were also filled. Literature Chair will need to be fulfilled next quarter, so please announce it to your Home Groups. During all Subs Reports, Activities brought up that only 8 of 21 areas were present and they have vacant positions, H&I had their group inventory that went well and they discussed more about Working Steps for Recovery Behind the Walls, Literature discussed about the upcoming literature projects, SPAD and DRT/MAT, and how our Areas can put on workshops for these, PI is in need of several positions filled, and C&E brought up that PNW is the same

weekend as Region. Also, a reminder that we can send all Area events flyers to the regional events activities calendar coordinator at [email protected] and they will get posted to the regional events calendar. Open forum had us discussing archives and how far back should we keep things, a lot of good points were brought up about keeping items for historical purposes. Someone asked about Amazon selling our Literature for more and our RD team cleared up why this is ok. And the Region decided it would allow the Areas to utilize the Zoom virtual meeting platform to help the more rural Areas to attend their ASCs. Some quick announcements, WNIRCNA XXXIV (2019) is happening April 26-28 at the Hilton in Vancouver Wa. Online Registration is now open, you can do that on the Regional Registration site wnirna-reg.org. Clean & Free 2019 is March 7th-10th at the Ocean Shores Convention Center, online registration is closed, but onsite registration will be available at the event. And the Western Service Learning Days 2019 will be taking place in our neck of the woods Nov 8 - Nov 10 at the SeaTac Marriott. Finally, there were a few motions brought to the floor that were a bit of a doozy, so I will let the RCM inform you all about them. ILS, Will C PR Chair: Just want to give a big thank you to Ashley L our current H&I chair for all her hard-work with implementing a Google-docs report for each panel. and the effort she has put into the Guidelines changes. Also I know that Ashley attended Region for the very first time, This would have been the first H&I Chair to show up to Region in almost a year. We always had someone show up, but not the true H&I Chair. So thank you! 1) We have secured a booth for the 2019 Pride at the Capitol Hill location and the Seattle

5) Facilities liaison Coordinator

Each of these positions plays a super important role in the PR Subcommittee. If any of you are interested in helping please come join one of the coolest committees I’ve ever been involved with. And this is the last month of my position as the PR Chair and I will be moving on to another service position. I will stay as the PR chair (interm) until someone steps into the position. This has been a fabulous journey and I have learned so much and am super grateful for the experience. NOTE: I’m saddened by the saturation of all the fundraising across our Area including Unity Day. I believe we as a body need to change Unity Day to every other year, as to the opposite year of SINAC. This would give are Area time to breath financially, and “maybe” it might be bringing more unity. What I am trying to say is that we have to much going on with fundraising, with conventions, activities, Unity Day and local homegroups. This creates a convoluted reaction to fundraising. I will be speaking with the Unity Day Committee and to see what their feedback is on this. Let’s investigate what it would take to put Unity Day every other year. Change is good, change is growth! More will be revealed. Tradition 5} EACH GROUP HAS BUT ONE PRIMARY PURPOSE – TO CARRY THE MESSAGE TO THE ADDICT WHO STILL SUFFERS Sincerely Bing B, PR Chair of the Seattle Area of Narcotics Anonymous 01/31/2019 Unity Day Chair: Verbal report given during meeting. No written report submitted to the secretary for addition to these minutes. Unity Day Treasurer: Verbal report given during meeting. No written report submitted to the secretary for addition to these minutes. Conventions and Events Representative: I attended region on January 12th. The following are the updates of our regional conventions: Clean and Free will be held on March 7-10 in Ocean Shores, WA. Although online registration is closed and a lot of the meetings are sold out due to a smaller venue this year you can register on site. WNIRCNA is being held April 26-28 in Vancouver, WA. You can register online at WNIRNA.reg and click on the Conventions and events and register that way.
