What about Authorship?

Authorship was about recognising good

content created by real people.

Obviously people like good content and trust

good content producers; aka authors.

The idea was to influence page rankings based

on quality content and reputation of authors.

Isn’t Authorship Dead?

Authorship was based on:

- Trust

- Authority

Trust and authority are still important to people, if youdon’t believe me, Google it!

Rules Don’t Influence Concepts

Certain Google rules might have changed but the concept

remains the same; earn reputation and trust by continuously

producing high quality content.

What Should be Done

Be where your audience are, not where convenient is for you.

Build relationship with your community to earn trust and establish authority.

You Can’t Bid For Trust & Authority

How to Build Social Authorship

• Set up a well-optimised G+ profile

• Become a valuable contributor to your network

• Tweet proper stuff

•Be active on LinkedIn and engage in group conversations

• Blog to add value to existing knowledge

Authorship Culture

a) There’s no shortcut

b) Sporadic efforts is more harmful than doing no effort

c) Build relationship with people and to do so you need to be:

- Friendly- Creative- Engaging- Funny- Collaborative

Always be curious; and mean it!

And Finally…

Social media is not just Facebook, it is the biggest mistake to

assume Facebook is the first place where you need to start.

Stop looking for examples of social media best practice; there

aren’t many out there. Start creating best social media

experience.

Don’t worry about ROI, create experience and deliver your

promises; people then do business with you.

Stop thinking about the best time to share content on social

media; every business and industry is different.
