A complete range
All tubular products required
in high-capacity power stations
are subjected to critical operating
stresses. High quality require-
ments are applied to the steel
tubes and pipes, which have to
withstand operating temperatures
up to about 625°C (1155°F)
and pressures up to 320 bar
(4650 psi) over the plant lifetime
of several decades.
V&M TUBES produces all these
tubular products, such as combus -
tion chamber tubes, header pipes
and line pipe for main steam and
reheater circuits, in a complete
size range from the smallest
dimension up to large heavy wall
pipe in all required steel grades.
The material is melted in
V&M TUBES own steel works,
tailor made to the requirements,
includ ing the most sophisticated
grades such as T91/P91 (or
X10CrMoVNb9-1), T92/P92 (or
X10CrWMoVNb9-2), VM12-SHC
and T24/P24 (7CrMoVTiB 10-10).
Hot rolling of the tubes and pipes
is carried out on high-perform -
ance rolling mills, i.e. depending
on dimensions on
• a push bench mill
• continuous mandrel mills
• plug mills
• pilger mills
• a piercing and drawing mill and
• Premium Forged Pipes (PFP)
process.
This variety of production facili-
ties enables V&M TUBES
ideally to choose the most suitable
production process for the
individ ual product. Therefore,
also special products for boiler
construction and piping systems
can be manufactured.

Multirifled boiler tubes 1)
are used in high-pressure boilers
to eliminate the steam film forma-
tion on the inner surface of the
tube and to increase the thermal
efficiency of the water walls.
The product range covers outside
diameters from 28.6 to 82.5 mm
with wall thicknesses from 3.7 to
13.2 mm.
Cold-drawn boiler tubes 1)
are supplied up to 25 m with close
tolerances, in standard and non-
standard dimensions or inside-
diameter controlled.
Any dimension can be produced
within the dimension range.
Piping components
Fittings, headers or other prefab -
ricated products can be sup -
plied with hot-reduced or bottle -
necked ends on one or both

sides. Moreover, hollow bodies
can be manufactured with
integral bottom or with one
thickened end.
Stainless and high alloyboiler tubes 2)
for superheaters and re-heaters,
with an outside diameter from
38.1 to 76.1 mm, suitable for
highly corrosive environments
and supercritical steam conditions
(above 550°C and 24.1 MPa).
1) produced by Salzgitter Mannesmann Précision Etirage SAS
2) produced by TUBACEX S.A. and sold by V & M TUBES under strategic agreement

Quality management
High quality generates customer
confidence and satisfaction and
contributes to a company’s eco-
nomic performance. Quality lea d -
ership is therefore the overriding
objective and determinant of our
corporate policy.
The Quality Assurance System of
V&M TUBES covers all stages of
pro duc tion at all plants involved in
the manufacture of V&M TUBES,
from the steelworks via the tube
and pipe hot rolling mills right
through to the company’s finish ing
lines and shipping departments.
The quality departments at the
individual plants operate independ -
ently of the production depart
ments. Their highly qualified
testing personnel is bound to
the V&M Quality Assurance
Procedures laid down in the
company’s Quality Management
Manual.
V&M TUBES holds approvals
from major national and inter -
national official authorities,
customers and third-party organ -
izations. This includes the certifi -
cation accor ding to ISO 9001 and
ISO 14001 of all V&M plants.
