Lightning crackled as the waves crashed against the sides of the Dark Tempest, washing across the crewmen on the deck, soaking them wet in cold sea-water. The shuffling revenants moaned under the lash as the sharp toned voice of a Satyxis Quartermaster spurred them to work faster. Once sailors, living men, the Revenants had been condemned to eternal servitude in death, suffering under the cursed whips of their Satyxis overseers.

Upon the rear-castle of the vessel Captain Atheria watched over the activity onthe deck, wrapped in her long trench-like coat, flanked by her first-mate, a cold calculated Satyxis called Lerrias. The two females looked to each other yet soon, the familiar sounds of a stormy cold ocean was disrupted by another sound. Instinctively Captain Atheria reached for her spyglass only to spot churning water in the horizon, pursing her lips. A cold green gaze leered at her first mate inquiring, "What do you think, large Maelstrom?".

"Could be Captain, we should try and ride the currents due south-east....", theother responded. Above the crow's nest Ogrun pirate waved his lantern erratically, hoping to draw attention. Minutes past and Mgurk began shouting down toward the officers. His crew-mate an unfortunate soul was oblivious, his undead state not causing any emotional stir, but for once the Black Ogrun felt fear for what he saw ahead.

Over the howling storm as the large ship veered south-east, overcome by the winds and waves his words finally reached their intended target, "Energy discharges

    ahead! Lightning striking the water!"....

Trying her best to bellow atop the waves, Athreia literally screamed her lungs at the first officer, "Run downstairs, tell them to put more Necrotite on the flames. Port engine to full, starboard to half, more steam port side!". Not losingherself, Lerrias rushed down the stairs, trying to keep her balance on the stairs. Oil lamps wobbled in the motion of the ship and the stench of death began toseep in from below.

Entering the Engineroom the Chief Necrotech turned toward the woman, its gears whirring as the former human finally spoke, "It will take time to remove steam from the engines....", yet he was rudely cut by the Satyxis officer.

"You will maintain Port engine to full, cut starboard to half!", she bellowed, "We're heading into a Maelstrom, we need to turn, I don't care what you do, you do it now!", her matchlock pistol drawing out pointing at the Necrotech.

Overburdened with its cargo the raider turned slowly, creaked yet, much to the distressed captain's ire the currents began to pull it in. It's prow dipped in the water, then shot up into the sky, only to sink into the churning water aroundthe Maelstrom.

As Atheria saw her doom, her eyes closed ashamed to die at sea, instead of glorious battle in the name of her Queen.

But death would not come. Storm Clouds gathered above a flat sea and shadows sti

Arryn Jars stood on the boat dock on White Mist village only to hear the splashing sound of a large ship in the distance. Assuming it to be a merchant ship he raised his signalling lantern to the vessel, waiting for a response he saw the pr
