The production company ‘New Line Cinema’ is the first thing the audience sees. A cut into an overt the shoulder shot shows a male character the audience can’t tell here yet who he is, a mid-shot than show a new male character. Through this there is dialogue of the first male speaking from what he says the audience can guess that these two character may be police officers. This is confirmed when these two character seem to be investigating by their reaction they seem horrified. The audience then here non-diegetic sound of 3 bangs which show a open window, a jar and seems like someone’s legs.

Non-diegetic of voiceover and music. The audience here sound effect of a metronome that has been started the audience also sees this. It than continue with the beat. The voice over is stating what the narrative is he also tells the audience what one character is called ‘Detective William Somerset’. This give the audience a clue on what the film is going to be about. Through this we see an extreme close up, close up and wide shot.

The non-diegetic sound of the ticking beat continue faintly in the background, the voiceover is also continuing it tells us that the other character is ‘Detective David Mills.’ Through this sequence the audience sees these two character working together. We also here dialogue of one of the characters saying ‘we will be spending every waking hour together from now till the time I leave. I’ll show you who your friends and enemies are.’ This tells the audience that these two will be partners through the film. The shots shown through this sequence is mid-shot, two shot, close up and low angle.

The voiceover than re-appears saying ‘now’ followed by dialogue from the younger officer. The voice than says ‘they’re caught in a game.’ Through this we see the two characters investigating what might be a old wrecked house. Music is continuing over the top of this we hear dialogue with the two characters talking about the what/who they are investigating. The audience sees a close-up, wide shot and close-up.

‘But the only thing we know about that guy right now is that he’s totally insane’. This is done with a voiceover the audience see a load of tools. The audience than see the metronome again still ticking. The voice over reappears while the audience see a body. ‘with a price of sin... Is dead.’

A scream is and a bang is what the audience hears. Detective William Somerset is than saying ‘ their are seven dead less answers ‘Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Pride, Lust and Envy’ seven. You can expect five more of these’. In between each of the first 3 of the reason of the murders we see a crime scene. Wide shot, mid shot, over the shoulders shot, low angle and a pan is shown all the way through this sequence of dialogue.

The audience sees the wife of Detective David Mills looking extremely scared. This is where we see the officers dealing with the press and are getting frustrated. The music in this sequence continue to make the audience get the sense of tension. Close ups and wide shots are the mainly used here.

The audience then sees a new character which may be a colleague of the two detectives as he says ‘ There are two more bodies, two more victims.’ Detective William Somerset than is saying ‘This guy is methodical, sanctum and worst of all patient .’ music continues in the background Detective David Mills replies he is laughing at us. This is suggesting at the audience that the murderer is ahead.

The seven words than appear on the screen with fast cuts these are all writing in reed with a black background. The red is signifying blood.

The music is now taken over and is the only sound the audience hears. The music seems to have picked up tempo. It goes well as we see Detective David mills running and a wide shot od a hall way and the two detectives getting shot at. After the seven words reappear again all done by fast cuts and exactly the same as how it was the last time.

The audience hears Detective William Somerset than saying ‘He’s two murders away from completing his master piece.’ During this the music has also picked up tempo again this is to entice the audience in to go watch, it also builds up the tension. The audience see one detective at a house, and close-up at a piece of evidence. Throughout the trailer the lighting is low key.

The seven words reappear a third time this is two remind and build tension to the audience. The music in the background is still playing. When we see a close up of each characters face (Detective William Somerset, Detective David Mills and his wife) we here the actors names. ‘Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow.’ The seven words reappear for a final time. The music is still going at a fast tempo to build the tension even more. It than stop for half a seconds and slows and fades when Detective David Mills says ‘Have you ever seen anything like this?’ with a reply of ‘No.’ The two characters looks rather scared as they have never came across a murderer like this. A big bang than reveals a tally of seven.

The voiceover than says ‘Seven’ this is to give it a better impact and to help the audience remember the name of the film. The music if very depressing as the words ‘Let he who is without sin try to survive.’ Followed by Coming soon.
