Annual Dinner SDSB Luminites Association

The SDSB Luminites Association hosted its annual dinner on March 27, 2011. The event was a great success. This year the Alumni Association decided to honor and recognizetheachievementsofalumniaswellasprofessors ofLUMS.AfterarigorousselectionprocedurethePrideof LUMS Award was given to individuals for outstanding performanceinthepublicandprivatesectors. Dr. Salman Shah was awarded for his outstanding performance in the public sector. He headed the Ministry of Finance, served as an Advisor to the Prime Minister on finance and economic affairs and chaired the Privatization Commission. Mr.AsifSaadfromtheClassof88receivedrecognitionfor working his way up to the position of Chief Executive of Lotte,acompanywithasalesturnoverofRs.42billion. Mr.FaisalFaridClassof89wasawardedforhisexceptional performance of leading the beverages and food business to achieve the highest growth in Pakistan beverage business and developingitasthesixth largest volume player in PepsiCo globally. Mr. Ali Naqvis Class of 93 achievements as ManagingDirectorCredit Suisse and Head of EquitiesAsiaPacificwere also recognized. He managesateamofseven hundred and fiftypeople spread over fourteen countries based out of HongKong. SDSB acknowledges its Donors! The SDSB Alumni & Fundraising Office hosted a tea to acknowledge its donors on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the LUMSFacultyLounge.Thesedonors,whichincludealumni, classes and the corporate sector have pledged and contributed towards the construction of the new SDSB building. AlliedBankandFatimaGrouphavepledgedtodonatePKR 20millioneachforanauditoriumatthebuildingandhave, todate, donated PKR 10 million each. Soofian Zuberi of Bank of America Merrill Lynch has donated $17,000 for a discussion room in the new SDSB building. MBA Class of 89 has also donated PKR 7 million for an auditorium. Eleven discussion rooms were pledged individually by alumniandthreebyMBAclassesof90,94and98.

Dr.ZafarIqbalQureshiaddressedthegathering,thanking everyone for their effort towards raising PKR 60 million fortheSDSBbuilding.ThedonorssignedMOUswiththe LUMS management, honouring their commitment to raisefundsandwerepresentedwithshieldsasatokenof appreciation.TheshieldswerepresentedbyAbdulRazak Dawood.
