Mavis Oline Scott Darnell, age 87, resident of the Macon Community and wife of the late Arthur Ray Darnell, departed this life Friday morning, October 6, 2017 at her residence.

Mrs. Darnell was born January 26, 1930 in Ashland, Mississippi. She received her education in Saulsbury in Hardeman County, Tennessee, and was married November 8, 1947 to Arthur Ray Darnell. She was employed as a factory worker for A.H. Witt Company before her retirement. Mrs. Darnell was a member of the Macon Church of Christ and she enjoyed gardening, flowers and camping. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Mrs. Darnell is survived by two daughters, Linda Hillman (Richard) of Macon, TN, Sherry Cobb (James) of Vermontville, MI; seven grandchildren, Rhonda Peltonen, Laurie Cobb, Susan Maddox, April Bernstein, Brandy Wimmer, David Cobb, Erika Napper; and eight great grandchildren, Jacob Platania, Dalton Wimmer, Reese Bernstein, Chase Wimmer, Mavie Bernstein, Victoria Wimmer, Ian Napper and Bradley Hillman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Ray Darnell who died May 4, 2016; her parents, James Lynzy Scott and Willie Bama Hensley Scott; four brothers, L.C. Scott, Melvin Scott, W.C. Scott, Bob Scott; and two grandsons, Cody Hillman and Joseph Cobb.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3 International Drive, Suite 200, Rye Brook, NY 10573.
