languagE ClassEsfor adults & studEnts
These are 2hr classes from 7.00 – 9.00pm on the designated evening over a 16 week semester*. There will be a mid-semester break from 20 September - 4 October.No classes are held during school holidays or on public holidays. *Please refer to our Enrolment Information & Conditions p 7 - Class Viability.
TEACHING FOCUS► Is to develop practical communication skills. Grammatical concepts are introduced where appropriate to the topic. Exploration of aspects of the culture of each language is an integral part of our course study. Teachers are responsive to the students’ particular needs and purpose for studying the language.
ASSESSMENT► Certificates are issued based on attendance and/or level reached. These are optional and as requested by the student.

EnrolmEnt information& Conditions
TO ENROL► Please complete form/s on pages 8/9 and return as soon as possible. Early enrolment is advisable to avoid disappointment.
CLASS VIABILITY► Minimum class size is 8 and maximum is 16. For classes with fewer than 8 students the fee remains the same but the number of weeks is reduced as follows:
7 students - 15 weeks 5 students - 13 weeks6 students - 14 weeks 4 students - 12 weeks*
* At the discretion of the Director of the Centre.
Smaller classes facilitate greater opportunities for one-to-one interaction with the teacher and faster progress through the course.
CONFIRMATION► All enrolments are successful upon receipt of enrolment form and payment. Students will be notified by mail or telephone when classes are confirmed shortly before the commencement date. If no notification has been received, it is the responsibility of the student to contact the Centre for confirmation of class.
CANCELLATION & DEFERRAL► Courses with low enrolments may be cancelled or deferred. Prospective students will be advised of this either by mail or telephone.
REFUNDS► Applications for refunds will only be given if received in writing, at least five full business days prior to date of course commencement. A $30.00 administration fee will apply. After course commencement, refunds will not be approved under any circumstances. Scotch College cannot accept responsibility for changes in personal circumstances.

TRANSFERS► Will only be considered within the first week of course commencement after discussion with the Director of the Centre.

CAR PARKING► Available to all students in Morrison Street and in designated parking areas.
CONCESSIONS► Concessions are granted to tertiary students where a full time student card is produced, at the time of enrolment.

These are 2hr classes for students doing Units 3 & 4 LOTE from 4.30 – 6.30pm on the designated afternoon for 4 weeks.
VCE CONVERSATION CLASSES
TEACHING FOCUS► To provide VCE students with the opportunity to gain confidence through practice and invidual help in small groups and to improve their performance potential for the forthcoming oral exam. Coursework covers the two components of the VCE Language Oral Exam; general conversation and the detail study. All teachers are experienced VCE Oral Exam Assessors.

YEAR 11 CONVERSATION CLASSES
Ideal for students about to go on exchange and/ or those keen to improve their oral skills. These are 1hr classes from 4.30 - 5.30pm on the designated afternoon for 10 weeks. There will be a mid-semester break from 20 September - 4 October.No classes are held during school holidays or on public holidays.
TEACHING FOCUS► Will be on maintaining and increasing oral confidence and fluency using pair, small group and whole class activities with a native speaker teacher of the language. Attention will be given to pronunciation and intonation, appropriate register of the language and expression. Vocabulary and grammar will also be revised where appropriate.
COST► 10 x 1hr classes $180 (incl GST, materials supplied in class)
