Today we have the installation of new signage at the front of the school and we will have our school song and National Anthem installed in the hall. Last year’s Year 6 students contributed to the signage at the front gate as part of their parting gift to the school using the Mini Fete funds. We thank them for their kind and thoughtful donation. The Life Education van has arrived at school and we are looking forward to the engaging presentations by Amanda the educator and of course Healthy Harold to deliver the key messaging to students of friendship and positive communication and making safe choices in line with the PD/H/PE syllabus outcomes. Our Year 4 students will be participating in a STEM Day at Scone High School this Wednesday. This is another exciting opportunity for our students to work on their problem solving and creative skills within the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. We appreciate the work of the high school staff and our Year 4 teachers to make this event happen. BOYS TOUCH FOOTBALL

Last Monday Scone Public School played against Old Bar Public School in Touch Football. Unfortunately the boys lost their last game but they never gave up the entire time which is a credit to them! Thank you to Ryder Mc for helping coach, David Casson for refereeing and the parents who turned up supporting every game. Well done boys! Getting to Round 6 was a fantastic achievement! Thank you for your hard work and determination.

CHRISTMAS SHOE BOXES

In previous years many school families were generous in filling a Christmas shoe box with gifts to go to a child who would not otherwise be getting anything at Christmas. Although it seems a long time until Christmas, now is the time to be getting the shoeboxes filled so that they can be sent overseas in time for Christmas. Details for what to put in the boxes are on the leaflet that comes with the box. You can follow your box and where it goes by registering it on the website: https://www.samaritanspurse.org.au/operation-christmas-child/ The shoeboxes are available at the school office and will be collected on Wednesday 30 October. Please return filled boxes to the office before this date.

NDIS- SCHOOL PROCESS FOR THE PROVISION OF SUPPORT DURING SCHOOL HOURS

We have had a number of service providers (eg. Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Counselling Services) contacting the school to organise a time to provide support or therapy to students in the school setting. As a result of this influx and demand our school has set up the following procedures to ensure the safety and clear communication of expectations to any parent requiring a service provision in the school.

1. The parent is to make the first contact with the school to outline who will be providing a service to their child and the nature of this service (Documented request Appendix 6- Request for service provision to be conducted during school hours)

2. Meeting with parent and school staff (Principal or Deputy Principal) to establish whether a service provider should provide a service within the school setting. This decision takes into consideration the individual circumstances of the student or group of students and wider needs of the school.

3. The service provider must enter into an Engagement Agreement (Appendix 5) 4. The service provider must provide the school with appropriate Working With Children Check (WWCC)

documentation prior to starting their service at the school 5. The service provider must undergo an induction at the school prior to commencing services 6. The school has the responsibility to review the service provision and withdraw external provider access

if it is no longer in the student’s educational interest or it has adverse consequences for other students, staff or the general running of the school. This will be communicated to the parents and carers.

HAVE YOUR SAY ON BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE The NSW Government is committed to providing before and after school care to all students of public primary schools in New South Wales. As part of the reform, a parent web form has been established by Service NSW that will enable parents to tell the department about their specific care needs and to stay up to date with any new developments. The information provided by parents will help the Department of Education to understand your needs, give them insights into where there are gaps in service delivery and help to ensure the extra places are delivered where they are required. Have you say today at https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/basc.

ENVIRONMENTAL WARRIORS Our students are really enjoying making our part of the world a better place. We have last week introduced Return and Earn bins to each of the eating areas, and students are being encouraged to look on their bottles or drink containers for the “10c refund” message before placing it into the new green bins.

Term 4 Week 2 Tuesday 22 October 2019 Can you believe that we are already well underway with Term 4 and Bloom Markets is now less than 5 weeks away?! Thank you to everyone who has already sent notes back to let us know how you can help or what you can donate. Please keep sending your notes back in.

• Tombolas, ice cream toppings and corn chips can now be dropped in to the school office at any time.

• Cake stall donations can be left at the canteen the day before or the day of the

markets. Where possible please package your cakes, slices ready for sale and make sure you attach a note stating the ingredients.

• Frozen nacho mince can be left at the canteen in the week or so before market

day. Freshly made nacho mince can be left at the canteen the day before or the day of the markets.

• There is now a link available for you to sign up to help on the day and we really need

people to help us fill in some of the rostered spots. If you can help, there is no need to fill in a note – you can go straight to the sign up page and select the time you are available and the stall you can help on.

Here's how it works in 3 easy steps: 1. Click this link to go to our invitation page on SignUp.com: https://signup.com/login/entry/1017027489486204051 2. Enter your email address: (You will NOT need to register an account on SignUp.com) 3. Sign up! Choose your spots - SignUp.com will send you an automated confirmation and reminders. Easy! Every hour that you help will entitle you to 1 ticket into our volunteer prize draw. Tickets to this prize draw are only available to volunteers. The winner of the draw will receive a $25 “We Live Here” gift card. There are 3 gift cards available for parent, student and teacher helpers (1 gift card for each category). Please note that students in Year 6 may sign up individually, but should not enter their name on the roster. Instead, please email [email protected] to let us know they can help (or fill in the form which was sent home last term). Students in all other grades must be accompanied by a parent – the parent should use the sign up link to enter their own name and then email us to let us know their son/daughter will be assisting.
