Nervous First Step Leads to International Opportunity …When I decided to take part in the NUI Maynooth Certificate of Counselling skills coursein Scoil Mhuire Clane, Adult Education Centre, I had no idea that it would have such adramatic impact on my life. I was quite nervous about taking the first step into theunknown as I have not been in a school/college environment for a long time but theambiance of the Adult education centre was very relaxing. From the very first night Irealised that this course was exactly what I needed. We were introduced to the course byour tutor Rita Stanford, who outlined the course content and it seemed to match my val-ues and goals perfectly. As we explored deeper and deeper into the study of counselling, I began learning thingsabout not only the application of counselling skills in everyday life but I became muchmore self-aware. I learned that I have abilities and skills which can empower not only me,but the people around me too. I acquired a much deeper understanding of my feelings andwhy I act in certain ways. This knowledge in turn empowered me to do things I would nor-mally have never done, both in my personal and professional life. Having gained much more self-confidence and a thirst for more knowledge, I decided toapply for a European Youth in Action course which is basically an international exchangeprogramme for people who volunteer within a youth organisation in their own country. Ioutlined the course in which I was attending at Scoil Mhuire Clane and the skills andknowledge I had gained from this course along with the other aspects of my personal andprofessional life. I never in a million years thought I would be accepted but when Ireceived confirmation that I was the only Irish person chosen to attend this year, I was overthe moon. Having completed my YIA course I can now say without a doubt that, had Inot done the Certificate in Counselling skills course at Scoil Mhuire Clane I would nothave had the courage to even apply or consider attending a course like this! This course has, without a doubt, changed my life for the better and I plan on continuingon my path of becoming the best possible version of myself. It has given me the drive tocontinue studying counselling and to try and empower the people I encounter throughoutmy life. I will forever be in debt to Rita, Scoil Mhuire Clane and NUI Maynooth for giv-ing me the opportunity and the knowledge to change my life.

A Positive Career Boost …I have had the pleasure of studying in Scoil Mhuire Clane during the past two years whereI was attending the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) course. I must say that tutorsin this school did a great job preparing me for all nine exams. I would especially like tothank Jacquie Birkett whose vast knowledge and professionalism helped me greatly in theunderstanding of accountancy. Also her enthusiasm, great effort and excellent preparationfor every single class made them very interesting.I am also grateful for very efficient and flexible administration in Scoil Mhuire. Peopleworking there always acted very professionally and, what is also important, they werevery flexible in terms of payments. When I was starting this course two years ago I knew it would be a big challenge. And Imust admit that the CAT course is a huge commitment in terms of time, effort and money. But thanks to professional help from people working in Schoil Mhuire Clane I have man-aged to finish it and, hopefully, it will give me a positive boost for my future career.

Your Opportunity To Discover Your PotentialI have the privilege of working as a Tutor for a number of years at Scoil Mhuire ClaneAdult Education. I believe we all have a drive to grow , learn and develop to our fullestpotential, yet unfortunately do not always get that opportunity. In fact for many adults inour society the experience of learning has been a negative one.Adult learners will discover in the exciting and welcoming environment at Scoil Mhuirea whole new passion for learning with no upper age limit. I see and know the immensevalue of returning to education at any stage of life. I see Adult learners realise their dreamof a new career I see the shy gain in confidence. I see learners discover abilities they didnot know they had. Learners have a new belief in themselves and go on to higher levels ofeducation to both Diploma and Degree level. The staff and tutors at adult Education havecreated a place of Learning that is Person centred, encouraging and welcoming to all.Indeed a centre for the development of the person. Students enrolling for the first, secondor indeed subsequent terms have nothing to lose and everything to learn!I look forward to welcoming each new Student and hope you find here what many othershave found, a new opportunity to realise your potential
